LIVE from Allure of the Seas, sailing November 17th!

Recommended Posts

As always, great review Bugsy! I hope you don't catch the post Allure OTS depression like I did! :p:D I may have to try Mr. Sancho's when I'm in Cozumel in April. I just want to relax on the beach, anything else you can think of to help me decide?

Until next time!

Swim, when you cruising again and which ship? :-) Time for us to look forward to one of your great reviews, pictures and new cruise videos! :-)

You know since we all got off the Allure, we've been feeling the cruise blues. :-(

These pictures were taken from the public beach. Look at the rocks in the last picture. You have to find a public parking spot (not many close by) and take a public walkway to the beach and turn right (south). Bring sturdy shoes or sneakers, expect an 8 block walk, half over the sand.

Here is the map on how to get to the inlet from the Hyatt Pier 66 :)

We used your map last Saturday to get to this area to watch the sailaway of the ships but it was too friggin cold and WINDY to venture out onto the beach and walk to the rocks. So we drove back to the bend in the local road, parked in a driveway of a house-for-sale and took a pic of the Oasis as she glided by 100 feet away. They watch like crazy for unauthorized parkers on the local roads so best to park at the meters shown in the above picture.

Thank You for the info. We can't wait to take our friends to see the Oasis the day before we sail Allure. They have never cruised and I think they will be amazed and excited for the next day when we board.

Thank you Chris for the review. Sorry for the slow connection you had to endure each day. I hope it was worth it for you, it sure was for us. :)

I finally got a chance to finish Chris's review!! YIPPEE!! I have yet to read Dales as well!! He is up next! Hello back to all of you who gave TOm or I a shout out!! YEs, Kay, I was at the inlet in that photo....I was the boa and I think Tom and Chris were all standing with me, so we kind of melded together!! (Kay is on a cruise right now with her DH, so she will have to read this when she gets back!

IN Chris's defense about the scooters and other rude people, we encountered quite a few of them as well!! Here is how you survive them.....Just know that you are going to meet 10 people like this in a day.....when it happens....say, "Well, there is number one!" until of course you reach the number 10! At this point you have to make a decision.....go to your cabin and hibernate for the rest of the day or raise your number and move along!! I usually raise my number! No one is going to ruin my cruise!

I too have been on the other end of the scooter wheelchair thing....only mine was Disney World during Easter! I think that is even worse! My neice tore her Achilles tendon the first day of a two week trip. While we were in the parks, we pushed her in a wheelchair. NO ONE EVER MOVED! It was awful trying to get around. I try to get out of the way and make room, but most people don't do that.

Kay and I also encountered a VERY rude man on a scooter on Freedom. HE was just plain unhappy and rude everytime we saw him. He never had anything good to say. His wife....also on a scooter, was very pleasant and gracious. He would just run people over. I actually heard him tell a 5 year old boy who was running for cover...."Walk in front of me again and I will run you right over!" Scooter man had just come out of the Windjammer as the rest of us were trying to run for cover from the Belly Flop competition that had just erupted into a full blown thunder and lightening storm! People were trying to get to safety and all he was worried about was plowing through the people to get to the elevator. (Which by the way was right by the door that people were pouring into from the pool deck.) It was NOT a good combination. If he had stopped and asked why there was such a SURGE of people all of a sudden and been patient, he would have found out that people were running to get to a safe place from the lightening.

I think Andy needs a companion if he joins us on Quantum :)

OH MY GOSH, I need one of these little guys!!

But .... but ....... where are the boas???

We watched sail away from the secret spot on the jogging track....if you want to know where it is ..... you might have to walk or run the track!! LOL! They guys should have had their hats with them, but this was Labadee day and no one was carrying hats or boass!!

I try to think of my cruises as ALL positive experiences but you are correct, the rudeness of some folks are something else - We also shake our heads at those folks who take Flash photographs at shows when they are told NOT to - but mostly, I also hate it when they SAVE seats - somehow, they get away with that too - I just don't like it when I am in the back of the elevator and no one from the front Moves to let me out and when they do, they give ME a dirty look-- ha!ha! When I encounter super nice folks, I feel happy and think, wow, that's great - !!! just had to get some of negative those things out.... Carol

I have to laugh at the elevator experiences. I always talk to people in the elevators!! It makes it sooooo much more fun. I have to laugh though at the people who get on and then stand in the front instead of moving to the back. I always want to say, "Don't worry, people will move to let you out when your floor comes up!" I sometimes think people have a fear of missing their floor!!

YES, by all means wear the right kind of shows by the jetty (ROCKS)! My husband wore his flip flops and broke his baby toe on the rocks before we went on the cruise.....formal nights were a bit rough on his tender toe in his dress shoes!!

I forgot to tell you how we got the prizes ... including the trophy. I went to the casino as soon as it opened on sail away day. I spoke to the slot manager about getting some prizes for our organized slot pull. I explained how we organized it on Cruise Critic and how many people we had. He told me he would work on acquiring prizes for us. The next day, I went to the cashier and told him that I had spoken to the slot manager and had he left anything for us. HE called the slot manager (Sometimes you can just talk to the casino manager, but in this case on such a big ship, they actually had a slot manager). I was given some dice key chains, Royal key chains and 3 shirts to do with as we pleased. When we went up to figure out how to divide the money, the cashier gave us the trophy that Janey won. He said the slot manager had dropped it off for us. We ended up giving the trophy for first place, the shirts were 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place and then we got a few more key chains and let anyone who hit while they had their turn have a key chain. IT worked out well and was quite fun having these extra little prizes. Doesn't hurt to ask for something, all they can say is yes or no!!

Hello friends! Once again it's time for a vacation and I will be reporting live from the incredible Allure of the Seas sailing this Sunday! This will include two days pre cruise in Fort Lauderdale as a "warm up" to the adventure! I am excited once again to be giving you all hopefully some excellent pictures and a chance to follow along as I spend a week sailing the western Caribbean aboard the world's largest cruise ship!

For those of you not familiar with me, my friend and fellow CC member Radio inspired me to do my first ever LIVE last October from Oasis and since then I also shared my travels aboard Celebrity Silhouette back in April. I hope to improve on each review and make them better than the ones before and this one will be no exception. As many of you know I love to take photos and while a lot of time and effort is spent doing these kind of reviews, I feel the end result is well worth it.

You will also have the extra added treat of TWO live reviews on the same sailing as my friend MrFunInTheSun will also be reporting from the same cruise!

So join me on what will hopefully be another fantastic cruise to the Caribbean. As Radio would say, "thanks for tuning in everyone!" :)

I know exactly where that is cuz I did the Walk for Wishes. Passed it twice and saw some people sleeping there, both times I passed they were sound asleep. Nice relaxing spot!
