attilamom1217 Posted January 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2014 I have seen some threads that state if you are in an AQ cabin, that there is a 50% discount for the specialty restaurants on the first night of the cruise. Is this correct? If correct, is that for all of the specialty restaurants? We will be on the Silhouette in 2 weeks. thanks.
Rare ghstudio Posted January 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Maybe. This was reported on the reflection which has more passengers per blu table than other ships, so they have tried to take away some of the pressure on the first night with the discount. I have not seen 50% on any other ship! but many cruises offer a 20% or so the first night, if you ask. Edited January 5, 2014 by ghstudio
thebutlerdidit Posted January 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Yes, this was true on the Silhouette on the Dec 15-22 cruise. Reps from each restaurant were actively recruiting at various places - we were approached at the Sunset Bar. In addition, we found a card with the half off offer placed in our stateroom along with our pre-assigned time for Blu for the first night. It was your choice of specialty restaurant for 50% off - the first night only. The current prices were $40 for the Lawn Club, $45 each for Murano and Qsine, and $35 for Tuscan Grill. We will play it by ear then. if we can get the 50% off for the first night, we will do so. Otherwise, we will wait and see if there are discounts throughout the cruise. We are looking forward to trying Blu so we are not planning on more than one night at a specialty restaurant (Lawn Club or Murano).

miched Posted January 6, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2014 We were waiting to disembark and were talking to another passenger. She said that she learned something that she never knew before even though she sailed a lot in AQ She said that she was in AQ and called on the first night to make a reservation. They told her that they don't take reservations for Blu ( first alert, she knew and traveled a lot in Blu and didn't know this) but why would she want to eat in Blu that night as she could dine in a specialty restuarant for free. She asked if we knew that and I said no we didn't as we were also in AQ on that cruise. She said that she never knew that before and learned something. She then said that her and her husband ate in a alternate restaurant that night for free and it only cost them $40. I guess her husband paid and hers was free. :D I have always seen a letter in the AQ cabin stating that we could dine in a alternate restaurant for 1/2 off on the first night. But the problem is with a it going on the first day those letters may get overlooked and when you do see it you missed the opportunity. .💨⛄
mandream Posted January 6, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2014 On our TA back in May, AQ had a standing 20% discount in all Specialty Restaurants every night. They were offering a 30% discount to everyone on the first - 50% to AQ. That being said, it's not unusual to do better than 20% with a little negotiating (or simply asking). Rare welshfamily Posted January 6, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2014 We also got offered the 50% off on the first night, this was on the Reflection cruise in August. After that each night the maître de would come around and offer a discount at a named speciality restaurant for the next evening. These offers were between 20-50%. As we were a party of 8 he even offered to get us a large table in the speciality restaurant of our choice if we didn't mind letting the restaurant choose the day. Blu, however, was wonderful so we only tried two of the other restaurants. Please note Blu was very, very busy and this may have led to these offers. CaribbeanBound Posted January 8, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) On Summit it was for first night only and only in Normande. I negotiated for a 2-for-1 on a different night however. All you have to do is ask. I chose an early time (6pm) on a slow night. Edited January 8, 2014 by CaribbeanBound
