Does anyone know if the Rui who is listed as the Maitre D on the Island is the same Rui who was a head waiter last year on the Royal when the ship was brought out? I think he was from Portugal. He was fabulous and I hope he got a promotion!

The Maitre D' listed is Rui Pereira, from Portugal - he's held the position of Maître D' for many years. We've sailed with this Maître D' since he was a young waiter. We've met a Portuguese Head Waiter with the same name too. So it doesn't appear to be the HW on Royal you're asking about, to our knowledge. Happy Christmas.

Different Rui. We sailed with Rui Pereira who was the Maitre D'Hotel on the Star in 2012. We just got an email stating he will be on the Island Princess in February. He was also quite the charmer!

Just off the Diamond Princess in Austrailia/New Zealand, our MAITRES D'HOTEL was Pasquale Marino, charming man. I also heard a rumor that Godwin has been promoted to Maitres d' but I do not know which ship. I hope the rumor is true, it would be well deserved.

There was a very recent post that Godwin is ass't Maitre d' on the Grand now. I wonder if he will still be onboard when we cruise in late May and early June....

 

We cruised with Godwin for the Christmas and New Year Holiday, 2014. He said he would be on the Grand until August, 2015 when he takes vacation. After that it's anyone's guess where he will go. Great fellow!

I'm sorry I do not know his schedule. I merely reported this based on a pre-cruise email. There's no guarantee he will even be there when I arrive.
