New C&A Coupons on Seapass Card

Totally agree. This is another great idea (like the digital photo lab) that has some serious flaws in execution. I wound up carrying the letter with me all the time and checking off the perks as I used them...but if you have to do that, you might as well just carry the paper coupons, which seemed much easier for the crew to understand and apply to your account.

Also the letter clearly reads "20% discount off ANY salon or spa service." I made an appointment for a Swedish massage, fully intending the use the discount. When I arrived, I was told the massage therapist wasn't available (another issue in itself) and the receptionist offered me a "spa sampler" instead. Since it was the same price as the massage, I agreed.

When presented with the bill, it didn't show the 20% discount. I asked about it and was told the spa sampler service was already "specially priced" so the diamond discount didn't apply! I argued my case with Guest Relations, and the response was the spa is run by a contractor who is allowed to set their own fees. As if the hard-sell products pitch isn't enough reason to avoid the spa, here's one more...

Whilst aboard the Splendour of the Seas, we were on the new system doing a back to back, issued new cards for the 2nd part of the Cruise, the first week we did not have our free drink or even the BOGO half price, never noticed anything referring to this either. The 2nd week I questioned this and was offered the Coupon discount, so decided to visit the Pursers Desk. The reply I got was that it is new so has teething problems, when I mentioned that I was never offered the chance to use my coupon, it was reinstated onto my 2nd sea pass card on the 2nd week. I honestly did not know what I was entitled to and found it very confusing.

  • 4 weeks later...

We'll I am back from my March 2nd sailing on Navigator and there was nothing listed on any paperwork left in my stateroom. I finely went to guest services and asked for a print out. My family I was traveling with had to do the same thing because nothing was left in their cabin as well.

As for the discounts being automatically taken, they were not. We had to tell them to use the discounts and in some cases the wait staff kept asking for the paper coupons. Seems like RC did not update the staff or the staff missed that meeting.

I did have an instance where I wanted to use my coupon with a sale item for an extra 10% off but was told it could not be used on sale items. I feel I should be able to use my coupons regardless of it already being on sale but that's just my opinion.

We were on Rhapsody 11-22 Feb and like others we received no C&A coupon list, no letter of welcome back, no invite to the M&M - even though they acknowledged that I started the tread on CC and FB.

When I asked C&A staff they advised that I should have received a letter and that I should throw my cabin steward over the side for not delivering it and that I should just ask for the discounts that I was entitled to!!!!!!

So I went back later and asked the other lady at C&A and she advised that they forgot to send the letter out and she gave me a list and it showed that we had collected the drink discounts without even knowing that it occurred.

I don't think they worry about it too much or give two hoots.

We just returned from the Legend on 02/24/14, and found no such letter (or on the back of a letter) listing the discounts / benefits of D+.

Must have been some sort of overrsight, because we got that letter on the Legend transatlantic last October.

On Liberty last month there was no welcome letter with discount list. I asked my stateroom attendant and she said that she didn't know what I was talking about and that I could check with guest relations. It showed up the second night in the paperwork that she put on the bed.

Meanwhile, we got a beer and a Diet Coke at the pool bar, and the bartender automatically gave us the soda for free without asking. I would have used the freebie on a nice glass of wine with dinner but he said he couldn't reverse it. After that we were careful not to order 2 beers/wines/soda together on the same seapass card or to be sure to tell them not to take the discount, until we were ready to use the discount. It was a bit of a hassle this way. The staff should be instructed to always ask first. We had no problem using any of the discounts.

We had a welcome letter and discount list on our Brilliance cruise a couple weeks ago. THis was our first cruise with the couplons on the Seapass card, and we found it less convenient. I'm sure we will get used to it, but its not as "obvious" what you have and what's left. We only used the internet "coupon". which was applied to our account as soon as we logged on and created an RC-online account.

When we were on Liberty in February, I received the coupon letter listing my coupons, but we did not receive one for DD- I totally forgot about the coupon booklet the kids used to receive until I was at the photo shop picking up my free 8 by 11 print and the clerk asked me if I had picked out another print under DD's card.

I said we never received a coupon letter for her, so the photo staff clerk kindly scanned DD's card and printed out all her coupons for me, including BOGO at Ben and Jerry's, and $$ of at the arcade but no free photo.

Just thought I would mention in case you have kids enrolled in C&A to remember to check for their electronic coupons, too.

We also had no letter for DD on a recent Enchantment cruise. We went to both the LA and the diamond concierge and neither know or could find the info. But as we were disembarking (literally rolling my bag off the ship) the LA spotted me and had received the document from Miami and printed it for the next cruise, so he gave me one...

He told me this is for all ages across the whole fleet for short cruises

No free photo here, and on our 7 night last spring my girls did not have a coupon in their books for one, either:D

There is a crown and anchor paper describing all the events for your cruise for your tier level, such as the welcome back party,etc.. On the back of this are listed your electronic coupons, so if you got the paper telling you about the welcome back party then you got the list. Its left by your cabin steward along with the compass etc.

Not necessarily. We just got off Brilliance, and the back of the welcome letter was blank. The C&A coupon list was not delivered to our cabin until the second day, and it was in a separate letter.

Wow, what a lot of inconsistency. We sailed on Brilliance on Feb 24th and received the details of what 'coupons' were loaded onto our Sea Pass cards on day 1, as it was in our stateroom with all the other info, including shore excursion tickets and letter from the Diamond Concierge.

The details stated that the free internet minutes would be automatically credited starting on day 2, and after I'd created my internet account, the next time I logged in, yes there they were. A credit of $25.50 which equates to the 30 minutes to which I was given at the standard rate of $0.85c per minute.

As for 'spin to win' - just went to the cashier in the Casino and after scanning my card, I was given the 3 tokens to play.

At bars I was asked if I wanted to use any applicable coupons. One member of staff told me that they had to ask the guest if they wanted to use the appropriate discount if there was one available, not just use it automatically without asking.

The server at Vintages printed out what we had left and advised that if a guest requested, they had to provide the printout detailing what was still available.

The photo gallery used the coupon for the purchase of a photo without issue.

Chops Grille scanned our cards and provided the speciality coffee at no charge.

If people are having issues with either

a) not receiving the detailed list

b) having issues where the 'coupon' hasn't been used, but the server says it has

c) having the discount automatically applied without being asked

d)staff not providing a printout (from any bar) or

e)having no 'coupons' loaded

then I'd suggest you contact Adam Goldstein to voice your displeasure and suggest that staff receive more training so that the experience is consistent across the fleet.

We're sailing on Adventure shortly and I hope there are no issues as we had a good experience on Brilliance and on this we will be using the Tuxedo rental and laundry discount as it is a 14 night TA.

I was told many cruises ago (when we still received coupons) that the discount on RCI merchandise could not be used on sale items.
