Electronic coupon books

We used them on the Allure. It was seamless. To us there were only a handful that interested us, eg. internet, photo, BOGO, etc. The only hiccup was the lack of info on the usage of the free internet minutes. we found out the hard way that you need access codes and no longer swipe your Seapass card.

Well just based on the posts here it doesn't seem to be seamless. I agree...I would want to use them when I would want to use them. It might help to have it on your RCL tv. I think that way you could see what coupons you have used.

 

I guess the alternative is to carry around the welcome letter with a list of the discounts.

 

I think I would rather have the coupons, at least at this point. I tore them off and used them when I wanted to. I am all about saving paper so maybe they will find ways to make it a little more efficient. Doing it electronically makes sense but it's not a perfect system yet.

They were NOT automatically applied on the Serenade.

That's good news. We are on Legend on Mon. I hope we find the same policy. I'll definitely be specific when ordering a beer.

Our Casino Tournament and Gift shop discounts were automatically applied, but we had to ask for the 2 for 1 glass of wine to be applied.

 

I think those were the only ones we used.

 

 

 

 

I prefer the paper coupons.

In my opinion, its all computerized. The coupons should automatically come off your tab when you make a purchase. You shouldn't have to ask for it. Ever!

 

The only challenge would be to know which coupons you have and which ones you have used. Perhaps display it on the room television?

 

I wrote this on another thread. While the coupons overall were convenient, when we tried to use the 2 for 1 wine coupon, the server mistakenly put them on separate slips so we were charged for both and the coupon wasn't applied. She rectified it once we pointed it out. The 20 percent coupon was never applied in Giovanni's but the concierge in the DL, Ana, made a call and it was also applied. I have to be honest, I hate paper coupons and it would drive my wife crazy that I wouldn't even put them in my pocket never mind use them so I'm pretty happy.

We did a b2b on Adventure earlier this month ... sometimes the coups were automatically applied, sometimes they weren't. By the second week we had learned to tell staff if we wanted to use our coupons or not.

 

Only the bar staff seemed to know how to use the coupons ... oh, and the casino cashier ... the photo shop had no idea what to do to give me our free photo, our assistant waiter didn't have a clue, it was a real pain getting extra bingo cards ... and trying to get the internet minutes was a joke ...

 

I hope they get this figured out before we cruise again ...

On our last few cruises, the electronic coupons have worked fine. The CRUISER, needs to know what they have. We had to 'request' the use of a coupon, at the time of 'redemption' -- which is fine. I want the BOGO coupon used for the product I want, not simply because I ordered 2 drinks at the same time.

 

For us it all worked out just fine. It does amaze me that for some people it works wonderfully and for others, it is a darn nightmare. There should be more uniformity along the cruise line, to avoid this.

 

I hope the list I posted previously gives some help to other cruisers regarding their rewards.

Having just gotten off of the Liberty, it's using the electronic versions.

 

We didn't have a problem at all with them. BOGO for restaurant + the BOGO coffee drink at restaurant was spot on. Pictures were asked if we wanted to use them. Slot pull was easy.

 

Since we used only a handful of the book, this way works much better.

 

Never got around to using the BOGO wine or beer or drink... But I expect it would have been fine.

Yes, you get a new set of coupons for the second cruise. You also get a new SeaPass card.

I like the new system better. The old books were a pain, and a waste of paper. The new system is much easier, and the list of discounts is easier to carry with you. I've never had a problem with the discounts not being applied automatically. For the bean counters that absolutely must know which discounts they still have, they can always check them off as they are used, or simply ask which ones they still have.
