Treacher1 Posted February 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2014 When you visited the port of St. Thomas did you dock at Havensight, Crown Bay, or tender? Just curious - have seen conflicting information - does not always seem to be the same. Thanks for any information.

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted February 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Though I have been to St Thomas many times, I must confess that I don't know whiich is which when it comes to docks. I do know I prefer to dock at the dock that is near the lift that takes folks up to a very scenic view of the bay. When I have been on ships that docked at the more industrial area, I was disappointed. We have docked there on Oasis, Allure and Eclipse last year. I hope Eclipse docks at the prettier dock when we sail into St Thomas next month. So whick dock is Havensight? Rare mahdnc Posted February 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) On Jan 8, 2014, we were anchored at St. Thomas and thus tendered. Gangway Style, allow me to post this picture I took on that day to answer your question (taken from the scenic spot that you referred to). At that time, Allure of the Seas had not arrived yet and was scheduled to dock at Crown Bay. Edited February 28, 2014 by mahdnc
Rare vickykay Posted February 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2014 We actually would have preferred to be tendered right into town rather than pay the taxi fees. Loved St. Thomas!
WestLakeGirl Posted February 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2014 Eclipse is scheduled for crown bay for the rest of this season, but that doesn't mean that last minute changes won't occur
h2ocruiser Posted February 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2014 We were on the January 25th sailing and we docked at Havensight.
cruisegirl1 Posted February 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2014 We sailed on the Dec 28 NYE cruise and tendered in St Thomas. We decided to take a ship snorkeling excursion, were escorted in an early tender, and got out of St Thomas as there were many ships in port. The excursion pick up/drop off was next to the tender dock. So convenient! The tender drop off is right in town, so much easier than either port. As noted no taxi fare or worries about traffic back to the ship m
C 2 C Posted February 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 28, 2014 We were on the January 25th sailing and we docked at Havensight. And we were told that it (the 25th) would be the only time this season.

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted March 1, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Thank you, Mahdnc, for that stunning and well-labeled photo. Now I know where Havensight and Crown Bay are and I know I MUCH prefer Havensight. It is just a short, easy walk to the lift up to the lookout. Not only that, I find Havensight much more scenic. Unfortunately, it looks as if Eclipse will be docking at the more industrial Crown Bay.
BocaRoo Posted March 1, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 1, 2014 On Jan 8, 2014, we were anchored at St. Thomas and thus tendered. Nice work, (as usual) David! We hope we will cruise with you again! Jill (& Kevin)
Ruthk Posted March 1, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 1, 2014 We are sailing the whole month of Feb./15 on the Eclipse and I see that St. Thomas has been taken off the itinerary. I like St. Thomas, but am glad we are not going there anymore - way too many other cruise ships in the harbour.
miched Posted March 1, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 1, 2014 At the end of this season I don't think that the 14 day southern on the Eclipse will be stopping at St Thomas. The Eclipse will also leave out of Miami. I don't like Crown Bay. I would rather be tendered into the town, but I did like the walk from the dock in Havensight to town. It was rather scenic, got some exercise and there were some nice fun watering holes along the way, and they had free wifi. 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅🍸🍻
Rare mahdnc Posted March 2, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) Hi Jill! Thanks and yes, perhaps we will find ourselves on the same sailing again! And you are most correct--it was gorgeous that day in St. Thomas! Hope you and Kevin are doing well..... Gangway Style, I am glad that the photo helped! miched, there is at least one more Eclipse sailing next season that calls on St. Thomas--Jan 18 2015. It is the one that follows the cruise that we booked for next year. Edited March 2, 2014 by mahdnc
