VIFP Club - special offers just for you?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the information.

I was thinking of a MSC sails Carnival.thread .comparison. I see them a lot between RCI and Carnival. Princess and Carnival and NCL and Carnival.

I have never seen a thread comparing MSC to Carnival. If you ever do a thread like that, I would love to read it. Thank you again.

MSC is still fairly new here in the states, and they are not widely known like the other cruise lines are. I'm guessing this is why you may have not seen many threads comparing Carnival with MSC, or MSC with other cruise lines.

We live on the West Coast so all the 3 & 4 day cruises out of Long Beach were on it.

Free inside room, $50. outside, $300. suite.

We decided on a Sunday-Thursday one on Nov 9th.

I wanted to book a suite. I decided to go ahead online rather than wait until tomorrow when they open.

When I clicked on suite for type of cabin, a dropdown opened up with 3 choices...

Obstructed view JS

JS or

Grand suite !

duh....which do you think I checked ???? all were the same price....

I have been on 26 Carnival cruises and am a VIFP member. I was just curious ... have any of you received a "special offer just for you" when you click on the "my offers" link? Every time I look, it only says, Sorry, there are no special offers for you at this time. I look every day.... anyone??

Nope Never

Check your VIFP page again.. I had the same offer, but it said I could have up to TWO cruises, as long as I booked before June 26, and they had to be completed by the end of January 2015...

We received a Casino offer 2 or 3 years ago when my SO lost quite a bit (for us) in the casino but none since.

Several people on this board have reported that the casino offers on Norwegian Cruise Line are better than Carnival's. May try that.

I look every now and then (about once every couple of weeks), and I've always had that message about "no special offers at this time." Imagine my surprise last week when I checked and actually found 2 "special offers" listed. One is code LM3, and the other is OL5. One is for $200 off past guest rates, and the other is for up to $200 in OBC. The restrictions say you must sail by 11/30/14. We already have a cruise booked with Royal for Dec. 2014, so probably won't get a chance to take a cruise between now and November. These offers seem good but not great. There's a decent chance you'd get as much discount with Early Saver in the long run. Still, it was exciting just to see an offer listed.

DH has a casino offer listed (code PTC). That has to be booked by 06/26 and sailed by 01/31/15. There again, we probably won't have an opportunity to use it just because we don't like sailing in summer and have a bunch of land mini-trips planned in the fall, then the December cruise on Royal.

This is the first time in a while that we haven't had a Carnival cruise on the books (I have 10 Carnival cruises--platinum status the old way--and 71 days, and DH has 8 Carnival cruises and 57 days). DH does play a little in the casino, but not a lot. He usually plays slots, though, so they have a way to track it. If either offer fit our schedules better, we might have used it. Looking forward to see what the Oasis of the Seas has to offer, though, and then we'll go from there.

Nothing ever so far for me, DH, or sister. Just that lame two-category upgrade thing, which I've inquired about before and found out means nothing.

This is what i see every time, not even a casino rate!! and I drop plenty of cash in the casino, enough to have some waiting on board for me :p

I got a free cruise rate back in February, booked and sailing on that free cruise in 2 weeks.

Since them I haven't gotten anything. Neither has my DH, my stepmom and my youngest DD (I check them whenever I remember to check myself).

My Dad gets casino offers but not free. He has a good offer now for over $600 off and deeply discounted but still, looking for free otherwise they won't be cruising this year. My oldest DD also has a good offer attached to her VIFP, same deal but not casino-related, about $600 off, but again, she just graduated from college and not looking to cruise this year.

My husband plays roulette. ( He has his OWN onboard account) and he never got a casino offer. I called Carnival Players, spoke to a really nice woman. She said they rate them over a two year period? (Casino folks..am I right on that?).and that he should ASK to be rated every time he plays. Everytime he buys chips at the table. I think they ask for the S&S card now..if not..Ask them swipe it. Then he gets points.

And I hope some of the regular casino folks come on and verify what I am telling you. I THINK I have it right. They would KNOW the right way..as they are rated that way.

We did get one. It is not anywhere near a free cabin. But it is 40% off of select fares. We maybe saved $150 dollars with the casino rate, and you do get to choose your cabin. I have a very good PVP and she got us located in a cabin by the mid ship elevator. So I am not complaining. Every little bit helps. Anything they throw my way I appreciate.

And I DON"T read the threads about folks winning free cruises. It just hurts me. It makes me mad with Carnival, and then what I have does not seem nearly as great as it was....and No More. Let the gloating begin. I am happy with my cruise. I have a nice cabin. I found a great PVP. I saved a few bucks. ( Two dinners in the SteakHouse!!) So I am good.

And I go DAYS without checking my VIPF numbers. That can get you down in the dumps when you NEVER get anything. Like us..before this offer.

Good Luck to all of you.

:(

cruzn buckeye,

I suspect that like us you pretty much always have a cruise booked so there's no need to entice us?

Last year Bryson, our oldest son, wasn't booked with us for the first time in over a decade and he received a free casino offer earlier this year and again last week received a reduced price with free chips offer along with my wife Karen. Bryson also had a VIFP offer two months ago with some very attractive prices, but he's a full time college student now and is working this summer. :p

Based on our experiences I'd say they only entice those who aren't already booked though I have read of exceptions.

Right now I'm not booked on a cruise, but I have been looking at three different cruises and our PVP has called several times to get us booked so I don't expect any VIFP offers for me, but I do check from time to time.

That message gets old quick doesn't it? :o

Just noticed that even though I don't have a cruise booked my countdown is 307 days to cruising! I've done enough practice bookings that they know when I'm going next!

I think you may be right.. my daughter did not cruise last year because she was pregnant... she got a call from Carnival... it came to my phone as it is in her name... they were looking for her. I told them this was my phone and gave them her new number. However when the lady mentioned her cruising, I said she had one booked later this year. Well, she didn't get the call. I may have blown that one for her:(

Anyway, I don't know why the special offers button is there, if we are never going to get one:rolleyes: Currently, I do not have one booked. Last one was solo... felt a little weird... but was okay.

I love your countdown... even tho there isn't really one yet??:D

I have not gotten an offer for a free cruise but I recently booked with RCL when they had their buy one get one half price offer . They also gave me $150 off a balcony because I have sailed with them before . I ended up paying $400 a person for a five day cruise out of Tampa in a top level balcony cabin .

I looked again under my husbands number this morning.

In bold red it clearly says YOU HAVE NO OFFERS but when I hit the submit button next to his number.....offers came up !

I booked last night under my number which had different offers....I did not get an email, just changed the numbers on my husbands email & my offers popped up.

Probably depends where you live. Mine was a WestCoast Special offer. I got the 4 night in a GS for $300......inside would have been free.

I chose from 10 different GS cabins ! Ships cannot seem to fill on the West Coast so that may be why we are getting the offers. We live in California

Besides the two category upgrade, this is what is showing under My Offers:

VIFP Club Member Exclusive Offer

Up to $575 off Fun Select rates per stateroom plus up to $40 Arcade onboard credit per stateroom

Savings off Fun Select rates up to $300 per stateroom on 2-5 day sailings and up to $575 per stateroom on 6 day and greater sailings. Savings may vary by ship, stateroom category and sail date. Category restrictions and exclusions apply. Onboard credit offer is non-transferable and is provided as a non-refundable onboard credit to your Sail & Sign account of up to $30 per stateroom on 2-5 day sailings and up to $40 per stateroom on 6+ day sailings. Onboard credit is applicable for Arcade purchases only and cannot be used prior to sailing. Onboard credit may not be applied to cruise fare or Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses. Carnival reserves the right to offer promotional cruise fares that require a minimum occupancy requirement of 3 Guests per cabin. When the booked cruise fare is contingent to a minimum occupancy requirement per cabin, cancellation of one or more guests in a cabin may cause a re-adjustment of the guests booked cruise fare according to the prevailing and eligible rate. Failure to make timely final payment in full of the recalculated fares for all remaining guests in a cabin will result in automatic cancellation of the reservation for the entire cabin. A valid and qualifying VIFP Club Member number is required to book this offer. Offer is capacity controlled and it is not applicable on Carnival Australia sailings. Offer is applicable on sailings between 5/15/14 - 11/30/14.

I have been getting this same offer, but when I got into the full booking screens, I do have more offerings, which are primarily for military. As a note, I do have a family member that upon checking her offers, was given one of the free cruises back in January/February which is coming up later this month.

Yes, you need to hit submit after entering each VIFP number. I don't even bother with the VIFP number, I click on "don't know my number" and it asks name and birth date. I'm able to check for offers on all 6 in our family.

Where does it give you the option "don't know my number?"

Is this while doing a mock booking ? Fareviewer?

http://www.carnival.com/loyalty/specialoffers.aspx

Then click on "Look Up my VIFP Number". When you click on that it will ask for your name and birthday, then show you your number. After it pulls that up, click SEARCH, then click SUBMIT. Scroll down and you will see all of your VIFP current offers. I do this with every member of my family, much easier to search them by name and birthday then to pull out each of their VIFP numbers. But it's important to click SEARCH and SUBMIT every time you do each person to see each VIFP member offer.

Have always seen the red No special offers at this time until a couple of months ago and both of us now have these offers. Since not sailing until December not advantageous for us. This is the first time in a long time though that we have not had a Carnival cruise booked, going with Princess this year as the price is way better.

I have 4 offers right now - Premier Cruise, Special Casino Rate, Private Pack and Play, and Past Guest offer w/2 category upgrade. (and I don't gamble that much) DH, with 14 cruises, just has a special casino rate, and he hasn't cruised on CCL in over one year, and doesn't gamble! DD25, who has been on all 17 CCL cruises with me has no offers, and dd22, who has been on 13 cruises and also hasn't been on CCL in over a year has nothing. Can't figure out the rhyme or reason for their offers. If it is to entice people back, dd22 would have gotten something.

I'm curious....Had you cruised during the past 12 months? There seems to be a trend that those of us who cruise frequently do not receive any "special offers". Hope someone from Carnival is reading this thread and notices that we have discovered their methods. Good why to discourage frequent cruises Carnival! You reward people for NOT cruising????

Same. No incentives for me.

We just came back in April, and we have the player's club offer.

Not sure there is any reward involved, but rather an incentive to get someone to cruise.
