Sending an email re possible group chartering my new years cruise

Recommended Posts

Seems our New Years cruise aboard the Grandeur is either mysteriously sold out 6 months in advance, or some group has chartered it. We have googled and called to no avail. Can anyone suggest an email address to RC for further information? I think we deserve to know what we are getting ourselves into for 10 days! I would hate for this to ruin what is supposed to be my family's Christmas gift, and would like to include more family members on this trip! Hard to believe its truly sold out....

Unless it is a whole ship charter and all contract are signed, you won't be told anything. If it's a partial ship charter they won't tell you anything either.

They will never tell you who has large groups or partial charters. I believe it is illegal to do so, but nevertheless it isn't going to happen.

If they have chartered the ship, you would be better not to cancel yet. Let them inform you and see what they are willing to give you for the inconvenience.

A booking site that I use to check room availability shows it as sold out. It's entirely possible that TA's are holding blocks of rooms, since it's not past final payment date yet, so I'd keep checking. Sometimes rooms are released from a block as you get closer to that date.

The Grandeur is a small ship. It is not unusual for various categories of cabins to sell out early. [particularly balcony and suites] Since it is a NYE cruise and they are running BOGO. . . it is likely sold out/held by TAs.

Post this question on your roll call. We found out there was a group of realtors from Maryland on our last Grandeur cruise. They did not impact us at all. However, a couple of the participants were on Cruise Critic and told us about the group.

Between BOGO and KSF, Grandeur has sold out for many of the popular sailings. Our Thanksgiving cruise hit capacity for a while such that you could only book two people to a cabin for all open categories. For a while that opened up, but I think you are now limited to two people per room again. I would not be surprised if NYE is the same - sold out for most rooms and/or limited in capacity.

On a cruise price alert website that can not be mentioned here only 2 categories 'disappeared' on the 11th of June, OS and K.

The other categories did close out over time there. RS 12 March, GS 24 Jan.,

JS 15 May, D2 5 May, D1 11 May, F 10 December 2013 and so on.

May be 'sold out' through final payment or travel agent contracted release date.

Can always be something else, but when that happens cabins tend to all disappear the same date as when they re-deployed Vision and cancelled my April sailing a year out.

I guess I am not really concerned about a charter group, we make our own fun...but I was interested in possibly upgrading my ov cabins and/or inviting more family along. Sounds like I will have to wait until final, which is in September. I have never sailed more than a 9 day cruise, maybe since final is due earlier than 9 and unders they sell out sooner than I expected.

they are not obligate dto tell you anything unless the entire ship is chartered and they cancel your booking.

google the name and date. many large charters will pop up in a search engine

cruises out of Baltimore ALWAYS sell out and sometimes very early. a holiday cruise.. even more so.. MDers cannot hack snow and after the past couple of years.. they have had too much experience with the evil white stuff.
