snc_cam Posted July 13, 2014 #76 Share Posted July 13, 2014 New life goal! Looking forward to seeing Lady Liberty in a couple of months. Definitely a good reason to be up early taking sunrise pics.
Shaded Lady Posted July 13, 2014 #77 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'd roll over and go back to sleep. I'm with Laurie and others! No need for my sorry butt to be up so early on my vacation! Usually DH wakes up before me, heads up to the Lido and brings me back a coffee. This next cruise is our first balcony so I'm really looking forward to sipping a coffee on our balcony and doing nothing else while my brain catches up with my body! EZ4 Posted July 13, 2014 #78 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'd be gathering up flip flops, books and towels that people had evidently forgotten from the day before and turning them in to lost and found.
golfadj Posted July 13, 2014 #79 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Yep, I am normally awake before sunrise at home or at sea. If it's more than an hour till sunrise, I head off to Lido for coffee, then walk around Promenade and take photos of the places, casino, shops, etc before they open. I may go to internet cafe and post on Funville. Then head up for sunrise and photos and peace. It's a spiritual time and reflection time to stand in awe of the sunrise through clouds, rain, clear skies, or however it is that morning!!! Love the morning!! I'd be gathering up flip flops, books and towels that people had evidently forgotten from the day before and turning them in to lost and found. funny
Thebosn1 Posted July 13, 2014 #80 Share Posted July 13, 2014 One time on a port day (Key West) I found myself up that early. I got a cup of coffee and went to serenity area and climbed in a hammock. I woke up at 9:30, my coffee sitting on my chest and everyone getting off the ship!
sammee Posted July 13, 2014 #81 Share Posted July 13, 2014 That 's why I bought a new camera. Old one really botched up so many.:( Congrats on stopping smoking. LOL, my old camera decided to leave spots on pics during last cruise that we did not see til we got home. Internal problem. So now I have a new camera for my next cruise. In 2007 I woke up early every morning on that cruise. I would just grab coffee too and go outside in a chair with my smokes and a camera. Now its just an ecig, so that and an extra battery instead. FireEater Posted July 13, 2014 #82 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Have not read all the replies but I would walk by the gym door a few times to say I have been up to the gym then go eat breakfast as soon as it was available...bring back a danish and coffee for my bride of 30 years.

4boysnana Posted July 13, 2014 #85 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Thank you everyone for this relaxing post. I can't wait to join you early risers and watch the sun come up and to see the ship come to life. Maybe just for fun we could switch some the towels and stuff around left by the chogs. We won't take anything.....just move it around and then we can watch the results and enjoy a second cup of tea.:p:D:) Once again I had some good karma going and blew it. zonacruiser25 Posted July 13, 2014 #86 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I really enjoy the "empty" ship quality time. I take my kindle, grab a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise and love watching to see the ship wake up. Everyone seems to sleep in on sea days but wakes early on port days. momonthego17 Posted July 13, 2014 #89 Share Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) If I'm awake at 5:30am then I'm probably getting on my workout clothes and waiting for my scheduled 6:30 room service bfast to arrive. Chug my two glasses of ice water from room service (I write that in), drink some coffee, peek out on the balcony for the weather, then climb the stairs to the gym for a quick workout. Come back, change clothes and eat another bfast with the family. You can sleep when you're dead. I want to be awake for as much of my cruise as possible, and this is the best time of day to do that. CHOPPERTESTER Posted July 13, 2014 #90 Share Posted July 13, 2014 On a west bound TATL or TPAC where you are gaining a hour every day or every second day for the 6 time changes then you may very well find yourself up at "5:30 am" no matter what you do. I'd go up to the library, take some completed jigsaw puzzle pieces and leave a ransom note.
sandij Posted July 13, 2014 #91 Share Posted July 13, 2014 MY DH wakes up at 5:30 every morning, he takes his kindle and goes for coffee and a cig, maybe not anymore, and meets new people who get up early too. He loves it up there at that time of day.

Linda the Book Lover Posted July 14, 2014 #93 Share Posted July 14, 2014 My clock has changed since retirement so I am never up at 5:30 unless the DH and I have a plane to catch. I did enjoy reading how others spend their early mornings on the ship. This is indeed a pleasant thread!
Purvis1231 Posted July 14, 2014 #94 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Gym sometimes opens earlier than 6- if so, I am there. Then I go sit on deck and read my kindle, having a light breakfast. When the rest of my family gets up, I have a second light breakfast with them! (Hence the gym every a.m.!) Hey, I do the same. I also like to walk around and talk to some of the crew. I found that early crew members are willing to talk. Talking to crew members from all over the world is one of my favorite activities.
