Would you consider Royal Caribbean a lot nicer than Carnival?

Recommended Posts

I must not be paying attention because I've never seen anyone that drunk on any ship including Carnival. I'm sure it happens but I think those claims of multiple sitings on one ship may be a little exaggerated.

Well, considering we've cruised 15 times and only seen it once, I'd say it's not so common that everyone is going to see it on every cruise, but on most cruises we've heard stories. The woman we saw get sick on GR on our first RCI cruise was being followed/escorted by security and fortunately she was on an outside deck. There are plenty of drunk people, but most can hold it together and don't get sick or do stupid things. I'd say most people just get a good buzz going, but some don't know when to stop.

One good story... On our second Carnival cruise (Glory) we were told by tablemates and now good friends about a woman while we were in Nassau. From what they said, she stumbled back towards the ship but fell off the pier into the water, not close to the ships, but right after you enter the pier area before you turn down one of the piers. She was very, very drunk and her husband didn't help her (apparently he was pretty loaded too). Finally someone from a ship threw her a floatation ring and they hauled her out. From what we were told she had been drunk from before the time she boarded the ship in PC and stayed that way the entire time. Our friends were told that she was with a group from So. FL who had come up in a party bus and had been partying hard the whole trip.

If so, why?

Having sailed on both- hands down RC. Especially the Oasis and Allure- however the Freedom class also beats Carnival. The entertainment is far superior. The service, is much better. If you have children sailing, the camp is also superior.

I also like the decor of the RC ships- I find Carnival a little to ornate for my taste. I also prefer the stateroom and technology on RC.

Enjoy your cruises

I have 22 carnival cruises and 10 or so RCA. I see virtually no difference between the two. I have thoroughly enjoyed both.

Allure and Oasis on RCL are unique, though pricey, experiences.

Only problem with both lines is they make you get off at the end of the week.

Virtually no difference? How about much quieter on RCCL than Carnival? Fewer blaring announcements? How about a bit of a different demographic on RCCL? How about much more live music on RCCL? How about no DJ blaring rap and hip hop music on RCCL? How about much prettier ships, especially the MDR? How about suite perks on RCCL and nothing on CCL except priority embarkation and debarkation? How about better entertainment on RCCL and way better fly on entertainment on RCCL?

I could go on.

I am Diamond on CCL and will make Diamond on RCCL next month. We are done with CCL.

I feel like I need to bring up the point that while onboard the Allure of the Seas, the Bingo Host made announcements for three hours on the hour leading up to bingo. That NEVER happens at CCL so the "less announcements" comment is BS.
