Silhouette transatlantic in november2015

We did the TA on her this past April -- a few observations/impressions:

> Have done about 15 cruises -- this is by far the best designed and most attractive ship of all we've been on. Truly stunning.

> Don't plan on much Internet access -- we had virtually none available -- apparently TAs draw a large crowd of Celebrity frequent cruisers (I believe they term themselves "Elite") who get some free Internet minutes and the resulting heavy demand crashes the system.

> We liked the food/service in all venues except Aqua -- maybe we just hit a bad nite in the latter.

We have done 2 TAs, the last one on Silhouette's sister ship, Eclipse.

We LOVE TAs - lots of time to completely relax and de-stress, but still plenty to keep you busy.

We were in Aqua Class and ate in Blu for most of our meals. We really enjoy Blu because of a) the food and, b) no fixed dining time. Not everyone loves Blu, but we do. There are so many dining choices on Silhouette that you will certainly find enough to keep you full :)

My husband and I have different goals for cruises - he likes to relax, listen to lectures and read, whereas I like to get involved in activities, take painting classes, go to shows, hit the casino. We are both always happy on a TransAtlantic. We do take some things to keep ourselves busy - like a few books, or I'll take some needlework. There is a library onboard, but it can get a bit picked over.

On our TA we had no issues accessing the internet, but of course the satellite can be affected by weather. I did a cruise blog and would do all of the work off-line, then upload once a day. We probably used about 150 minutes over the course of 14 days.

I only have two suggestions: Don't let the negativity here worry you. The vast majority of us have a fantastic time on our cruises. And the second suggestion is to allow yourself to have some surprises once you get onboard. Don't learn everything in advance :)

If we win the lottery and have more vacation time next year, maybe we'll join you :)

Have to say we love TAs. We've done 12 and have 2 more booked.

They definitely have a different flavor than "traditional" cruises (especially on Celebrity with few port days) but are perfect if you enjoy relaxing, reading or enjoying in the activities.

As far as internet access goes, on the Eclipse EB TA in April, we found the best access we've found on any of our 50 cruises. Quick enough that we only used about 3/4 of our Elite minutes...and there were 900 Elite and Elite + on board.

Sorry, the Silhouette TA cruise we booked is November 1, 2014.(not 2015)

Heard of people missing the ship by an hour or two, but not too many miss the boat by a year or so. JK!! happy0180_zps42e58677.gif

We are booked on both the 2014 and the 2015 Silhouette TAs, so happy to have you join us on one of them. This will be our first TA, as well, and we are very excited. Do come over to the roll call. They seem like a great group and have lots of information and advice.
