Our favourite was Wesley, on the freedom back in 2012. He worked by himself pretty much the whole week but did a great, professional job. He showed a sense of humour, was interested in what we were up to each day and on when the waiters had their parade he balanced a wine bottle on his head.

Our family was fortunate to have the same delightful waitress, Maritess from the Philippines, on three different Oasis cruises. Last time I sailed on Oasis, she had been promoted to manage Solarium Bistro, so I had to be content with just a visit. Now I've heard that she was moved up to head of Izumi. I'll be sailing again in February, but this time on Harmony, so I won't get to see Maritess, but we stay in touch on Facebook. If you see her at Izumi, please tell her "Miss Joanna" says hi.

Jonathan Isip now on Serenade but previously on Brilliance of the Seas. Whenever we have learned that he is working one of our cruises we have requested to be seated at one of his tables and have been rewarded with excellent service. His wife, Michelle is also a server and the pair are wonderful people. Jonathan was actually on deck to greet us when we boarded the Serenade in October for the repo cruise out of Boston.

We were on our first cruise on Liberty at the beginning of December... our waiter was Remedios, and he was great, but his assistant waiter was AMAZING!!! I for the life of me can't remember how to spell his name. He doted on my son, brought him fruit plates while we were waiting on our food, asked about his adventures after port days, talked to him when we ran into him in the Windjammer and other places.

We were on MTD, and after the first night requested their section. There were 2 nights where they were full, but we were sat in a nearby section, and they served us anyway.

How do you find out if someone is working on another cruise?

  • 10 months later...

My favorite waiter was Igor, on the Carnival Miracle 2017. I boarded from Los Angeles California on Oct.7th.

Honestly, I had never met such a kind and generous person such as Igor.

For me, when my order is usually taken by waiters most are impatient with me. I have a speech impediment and so it takes me a bit longer to say what I want. The first night when me and my family sat at dinner I thought "let's hope this waiter will be patient". When Igor came to me and I was having difficulty he was so understanding and was so nice. Like I said before, I'm so use to people not giving me a chance and being impatient that he took me by surprise.

When so many people treat you like you're different you're use to others being rude and so forth but when there's one individual that treats you like a normal being, you begin to become very thankful towards that person who stands out from the crowd.

When I meet amazingly kind people I like to let them know how they made me feel and to simply give complements. On the day before the last dinner I wrote a small note thanking Igor for the impact he made. How I thought how kind and caring he was, and how people notice him as he serves. It was a simple small note to let him know that the small acts he does truly can brighten someone's world.

My favorite waiter from Serbia, Igor.

Natasha on Harmony this year. We had a group of 13. On the second night she knew our names. We even sat in different spots and we couldn’t fool her. She worked mostly by herself as her assistant was missing in action a lot of the time. She was always friendly, did a great job.

Preetee from India was our favorite on the beautiful Freedom two years ago. She took one look at my elderly mother, hugged her and took such special care of her the entire cruise. She was a wonderful waitress and we looked forward to every meal in the dining room because of her❤️

Honestly - every one of my waiters, and assistant waiters in the MDR have been great. Which is precisely why I don't want "my time dining" - but see where it can be very useful - so don't bash me.

Most recently - Ronnin and Awayain on Grandeur.....

Justo Wright was way back in the day on Empress - I think when it was Nordic Empress - and everyone has been compared to him since!

Our bar server on Grandeur in 2014 was awesome.... never let the wine glass get empty.... perfect timing.

Christian from Australia on our Splendour of the Seas 2004 Europe cruise.

Just to name a few!

Happy sailing!

Actually, we've often had the same wait staff if we went to main dining, no matter what time. I'm thinking they keep track since you check in with your stateroom number. Now we do specialty dining so we only get there maybe four or five times but it's been that way for us.

He wasn’t really our waiter but Jose Fernandez, head waiter from Windjammer on Allure last May. Traveling with my daughter, every time we walked into WJ, he escorted us to a table and by day 2 knew that I liked my glass of red wine. I asked him on formal night if WJ was serving lobster, he said no and I told him it was fine. 20 minutes later he appears with 2 plates of lobster, this was after I had ate my meal, he was so happy that of course I had to eat the lobsters :).

Special shout out also to our wonderful cabin steward Boris Jimenez from Columbia, he was so protective of us. After working on cruise ships for 17 years, he was getting ready to retire and couldn’t wait to get home to his family. Such a wonderful man!

I don't remember any names but I love servers/bartenders from the Philippines. Simply the best. I also like the SE Asian dining staff. I always manage to score a home cooked meal from them! I am hoping for lamb biryani and raita when I sail next month.

Does anyone know if Indian food is serve for lunch on Liberty? There is usually a little area on most cruises I have been on.
