Casino Program Changes

Recommended Posts

Very interesting and good to know

Maybe something they are trying out as part of the NEW program to confuse everyone about how many real points they have:D

In our experience Double points are for the whole casino on slots, typically 9am-11am on sea days and another time slot in the late evening.

With no consistency from ship to ship, and no transparency from CR on the New program I guess we will continue to see variables outside the normality for some time to come;)

Happy Days!

Double points are offered based on the itinerary but more so on the level of slots play the ship is seeing. If the ship is in a region with heavy slots play then there would be less reason to offer double points. As with all "promotions" it has to drive revenue or it does not make any business sense. I assume this is what you meant by your comment.

No:)

Double points typically are on sea days from 9am-11am and an evening slot as well in our experience on all of our RC cruises over the past many years.

So it is a regular activity which is always highlighted in the daily compass.

I am always in the casino with DW when it is double points time, so can speak from recent and past experience;)

Yes:)

People are reporting double point machines that are always double points and agreed this is a marketing ploy to generate more play on those machines.

Hence increasing Casino revenue.

Itinerary specific, could be a factor if there are many more sea days, would make sense to entice more people in to get Mickey Mouse points by offering up double point machines.

More key chains and t-shirts for the double points:D

Edit: Note double points have no significance on FCC $$$ amount

Happy Days!

  • 3 weeks later...

My DH and I both got the cruise certificates during our April cruise on Allure. I threw 1 out when we got home because the sailings they were good for were just not a good fit. I came across another one and I called Club Royale and told them I had one but not both. I wanted to know if they would apply it towards a cruise on Anthem I have booked already(Which I got a pretty good casino discount for already). They told me they would contact the ship regarding the one I threw away and then ask a supervisor if they could be applied to 2017. I got a e mail today saying both certificates could be used toward the payment for Anthem!!! I wound up paying $3600.00 for both of us on a 9 night cruise in a Grand Suite!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I had written off the certificate I received in March because it expires on September 1, although they did say that I could use it for a new booking as long as it was before the end of the year.

Inspired by your post, I called them up and asked, and they agreed to apply the certificate value ($1000) to my cruise next March! She did warn me that they'd have to reprice the cruise, so that might affect its value. In our case, the price went down with the casino rate by $17/person, so that was even more beneficial. The only downside to the transaction was that we lost our $100 NextCruise onboard credit, but for a net decrease of $934, it's more than worth it!

Thank you again so much for sharing your news! :D

By the way, during my call, I was told that Club Royale is now "open membership". Anyone who plays in the casino can join Club Royale and qualify for cruise certificates (dollars-off or free cruise) and get casino rates, too.

Are the casino rates the same for everyone and then they get reduced further based on your level of play and how much your FCC certificate was worth.

So in theory, could join up, play a minimal amount and not really qualify for that much of a certificate yet could still book using casino rates?

That's an excellent question, and it certainly seemed that way the way the representative said it.

There may be some minimum level of play to qualify to get casino rates in the first place. That's my guess anyway.

That is interesting that everyone can get the great rates. I have gotten some fantastic, impossible to beat deals via the Casino, but now I will go back to cruise...........om to make sure I am getting the best price. Thanks to everyone for the great advice!

I would not pay too much attention to the cruise dates or the FCC value. As I mentioned in a similar topic, my certificate had a value of $500 and had to be used by 9/1. When the dates didn't work for me I called CR and they told me not to worry about the dates listed and they would see what they can do. I told them I was interested in an Allure sailing after the 9/1 deadline and they wound up fully comping my wife and I, instead of just the $500 value. Told them I would like to add my children to the room and they discounted them down to $260 pp. Just had to pay the port fees and taxes, but they did ask for prepaid gratuities up front.

You are very welcome. It was a great deal for me as well. I had booked through the casino to begin with(as I always do). The rate I got was 1900.00 less than the buy one get one 50% off promotion. Then they took off the 2 certificates for another 1750.00 off when I called them. It was a great deal.

Marc,

Just spoken to CR

All old CR VIP membership numbers are now debunked

Hopefully all past history is kept on a backed up database somewhere for tax purposes.

Everyone will be linked via a new database using C&A number only.

Happy Days!

Ha!

Both times I called Club Royale yesterday, they asked for my Club Royale number.

I do love sailing RCI (Really Consistently Inconsistent). :D

Was literally an hour ago, and even though we gave CR number they said they did not require it anymore.

Same day different %$!!:D

I am sure once all is transparent we will have a clear way forward;)

Should be interesting to see what onboard perks are when we sail next week. Hasn't there been some chatter that they are pulling back on the free drinks? We got a great casino rate for our GS so no real complaints either way.

thanks for the confirmation on the CR numbers. It certainly makes sense to just check the C&A account info. How strange - Royal actually did something in IT that made sense.

wolf, will be interesting to see what you experience next week, please report back your findings

A little bird told me, as long as you have the VIP sticker on your sea pass, then drinks remain unlimited

I think with all the non CR VIP members (no OLD CR #members) tickets, vouchers and cards are given out instead.

Go see that host and get your sticker and have a great cruise:)

Should be business as usual for long standing members, for now anyways.

Until they decide to change it again;)

We will be on Liberty after you, so any casino insider scoops would be appreciated

Best of luck

Happy Days!

I'll be back on Majesty next week but I still don't plan to play much... Have too many cruises booked now (10 to be exact) so I'm just going to be in it for the quick gambling winnings and quit. Hit it and quit it lol

Nick,

Not worth going above the 3600 marker until the program changes are revealed.;)

Best of Luck!

We are doing the same as you. Mostly short cruises. Play a little and we're out. Maybe they'll figure out that they need to implement a new program, not just string us along. We still have good offers for 2 cruises and just got new email offers for wine cruise, one big issue it is the same time as a slot tournament cruise. I will post them in cruise casino RC offers board.

Absolutely, will be happy to share intel. I'll post it here. Good to know on the sticker - last cruise we had a drink package so it really didn't matter. We're skipping a package this time to see if there's a big difference in cost for us. We had the sticker, it only came into play when we got cash advances. Before that, we were given the drink coupons. But the bar staff generally caught on and didn't even ask for those after a night or two.

I am on Oasis right now. My wife and I both have had the vip stickers on our cards all week and we've been getting unlimited drinks all week in the casino.

Pompey, what is the 3600 marker? My wife is sitting at about 2600 right now.

Good to hear on the sticker still being the desired route to reward CR VIP loyal members:)

2400 will get you a free FCC OV Cabin for x2 (or $500 off a future booking)

3600 will get you a free FCC Balcony for x2 (or $750 off a future booking)

there may be some differences with what I have quoted as others have reported 2400 gets you $600.. give or take.

Our last $750 FCC was actually an OV cabin for x2, so that even broke from the normality;)

but if you are a long standing CR VIP member, go for the 3600 REAL POINTS and then quit.

nothing more to be offered once you reach that REAL point total.

Unless they change the point system again soon

Best of luck!:)
