2015 Drinks and Cocktail list & Prices

Recommended Posts

All I can say is that on the Serenade a few weeks ago, house vodka and grapefruit juice was $14. Good luck with that RCCL

Agreed, wife can get a couple $8. glasses of wine at dinner, me, I'll wait for the freebies in the casino with the casino club.:D

Sometimes they quote with gratuity and sometimes without. I think the more confused people become, the better for the cruise line!

I noticed that the fine print on the 'Beverage Packages' website page states: Gratuity may be added or included in the published prices based on itinerary. Providing more confusion, eh?!

THIS IS A DUPLICATE POSTING FROM ANOTHER THREAD.... but I thought it might be better suited on this thread.

For anyone interested, I've attached a list of drinks (without prices) based on the menus from 2013 and 2014. I've categorized them by the drink type (as they appeared on the old menus).

I reached out to Royal recently regarding the changed menus and asked specifically whether or not the same favorite cocktails would be available even if not listed on a bar menu on the ship. Their response was a list of alcohol that will be available. I inquired again about the cocktails that are now missing from most ship menus. I was told that all "favorite" cocktails can be made as long as the alcohol is listed on the matrix they provided. I've attached the matrix for everyone's reference as well.

Of course, I can't guarantee all of these will be available, but it is a more concise list that could be printed off for reference if anyone wants it.

The YELLOW items appeared on 2013 menus. The BLUE items appeared on 2014 menus. The GREEN items appeared on 2013 and 2014 menus. Items that aren't colored were listed on other drink lists that have appeared on various blogs and websites, but I didn't actually see them on menus myself.

Wow. That is nice work. You obviously have way more patience than I do. That is what I had started to work on and I only got about 10 ot 12 drinks in and told myself there had to be someone out there that had done this before. That is when I started looking and found the price/drinks list that I posted that started this thread. And only a few days later, reports started comming in about the price increases.

I'm done my cruise for now, but this will definitely help out others. Looks like our next cruise will be in March of 2017 out of NJ or Baltimore. Probably not the Anthem though. More than likely it will be on Carnival. Looking at getting a group of 4 or 5 couples and their kids to go with us.

I'm not a big drinker. I do like a Margariita once in a while while on vacation. I seen this on a post....THE GRAND MARGARITA” (Patron Reposado, Grand Marnier, Island Oasis margarita) for $10.25.

Question, is this the everyday margarita with salt that I would order?

Again, I'm not that familiar how they are made, I just like them!!😁

Yes, you could get that Margarita with or without salt. However, you might be able to get it cheaper by ordering a "House Margarita". In this case, they would use less expensive tequila.

We used to (February 2015) be able to get a house margarita for $6.25. However, we noticed that price has gone up significantly on our moset recent cruise this past March.

What really amazed us RE the cocktails now served post-drink package is their weakness. RCCI not only limited the bar drink selections but also reduced the amount of liquor used. It's doubtful, even for lightweights, to get tipsy while slugging back a cocktail. It's much more likely that you will get a sugar-belly first. Good for you Royal, another way to pinch those proverbial pennies while fleecing the passages.

Here is the current package prices for the Allure as of today. This was posted on a live chat. Scroll down to about the middle of the page for a screen shot and notice in the fine print that it says gratuities are included in the stated price?

That looks like the old pricing. The chat may have been today, but I think the post used an outdated price list.

It may make more sense if you consider that Royal may be shifting to an "all-inclusive" model. Everything on the menus and most drinks will be "included" if you buy a package. No need to list prices on a menu of items that are all "included". Just like the menu at the Main Dining Room - no prices on included items.

The price limit is for "super-premium" alcohol, which won't be found on a typical menu. Things like 25 year old scotch. If you order something like that, they'll tell you it isn't fully covered and quote you the price. As someone who drinks stuff like that, the additional cost is not very relevant (within reason).

I think the recent price change, while significant, actually makes evaluating the packages less confusing. Using the outdated price list that started this thread, you had to do some serious calculus to figure out if the drink package was a good idea. With $10+ cocktails and $49 per day for the Premium package, the math is pretty simple. If you drink 5 or more a day, package = good. Otherwise, not.

We were on the NCL Breakaway last year with the drink package. We certainely got our monies worth and only 1x we ordered a drink that we had to pay for or pay the difference - i think we had to pay for it because it was a specality drink not on the plan. I paid, tasted it, got over it, and resumed my normal mojitos, maitai, etc. Point of this - NCL makes you purchase a drink plan for every adult in the same room. At least RCCL offers you the flexibility of purchasing for only the guests who drink. If youre traveling with multiple adults in one room and not everyone drink then the drinkers are forced to pay for their drinks alacarte (on NCL). I'm a NYer so a $15 cocktail is the norm here and while i dont like to be price gouged, i humbly suggest if you plan on having a few drinks a day on your cruise, buy the package and be carefree and tipsey and enjoy your trip without having to count your pennies. if your casual drinker, pretend youre in paying manhattan prices. most importantly enjoy youre on vakaytion!

Holy crap! put that in Canadian and I don't think I can afford to cruise RCL. I think I'll be better sticking with my booked Celebrity cruise that came with a drink package. That's insane!

I have just returned from a med cruise on Vision of the Seas. All cocktails were $14. A glass of wine was $9 and upwards. A vodka and coke was $9. There was a limited list of cocktails although you could ask for one not on the list, if the bartender knew how to mix it. Cocktails weren't particularly good.

I find when pricing out Celebrity the difference is enough to pay for a drink package on RCCI anyway.

You're right there is a $2000 Canadian difference between the RCL cruise and the one on X. That's two drink packages on a 14 day cruise.

I don't really know what goes into the cocktails that I like to drink so I've downloaded an app called DrinksFree where I've been able to search for then save my favourites showing both the ingredients & how they are made.

I can now use this to show my favourite barman on board! Works offline so I'm all prepared now! :) :)

I have just booked a cruise in November on the Jewel and I have a few questions.

Are the current menus posted anywhere?

Are there any shows or on-board entertainment that needs to be pre-booked before the cruise? I was on the Allure last November and it seemed that EVERYTHING needed to be pre-booked.

How do the free evening drinks for Diamond members work, and what is included? I know there is no Diamond Lounge onboard, but maybe we get drink coupons?

Thanks!

Barb

Entertainment cannot be booked pre-cruise for Jewel.

Diamond members and above get 3 free drink vouchers per evening, to use at any bar, during the cocktail period, typically 5pm to 8:30pm. These are limited to soda, house wine, selected beers, and basic mixed drinks, no blender drinks.

Does anyone know if they still sell the beer coolers? If so, does anyone know the current price?

$11.74 empty on Oasis and they're smaller than the originals. Couldn't tell you how many beers it holds nor the price with beers included.

Sitting at home for the last year I have constantly said I am not buying any drink packages. Sitting at the Pool Bar on Serenade of the Seas right now drinking on my Select package. Wife is drinking on her Premium package. When you get in the vacation ether, things change.

On another note, except for Chimay ever beer including Fosters Oil Cans are included in Select package.

:)

and when you bought the packages you said you would not, was the gratuity included? Did you order something over $ limit and found the balance on your bill? We will also NEVER buy this package (;)) but when we do onboard, I want to make sure there are no surprises.
