HALaftSuitesfor2 Posted March 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Last year we received 18 extra days credit on our Mariner account for shipboard spending on a 26 day cruise. I understand the 2 times day credit for suites, which we received, 52 days for 26. However, I was not able to figure the day credits for spending, $300 equal one day credit. I know we did not spend $5400.00 on board!!! Do they double theses credits as well for suites too?

Did you do any HAL excursions? Or in-room gifts?
HALaftSuitesfor2 Posted March 10, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted March 10, 2015 We did make purchases before leaving, not onboard but still not to that amount
sail7seas Posted March 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2015 They do not double the days awarded for what you spend but any spending you do either before you board or while aboard is counted. Also any gifts you received ordered through HAL would be valued and that is added to your account. If someone sent flowers, bottle of liquor for your cabin etc, all would be credited. sail7seas Posted March 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Did you have massages? Use the Spa? Book Pinnacle/Tamarind/Canaletto in advance of boarding, book excursions before you boarded?
PathfinderEss Posted March 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Maybe you bought some jewelry or something. It is 1 day credit for every $300. you spend on board or before hand such as dinning and excursions.
HALaftSuitesfor2 Posted March 10, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted March 10, 2015 So, let's say you spend $1200.00 on excursions, spa and other things before you leave and you spend another $600.00 on board, do you get 6 days credit or only credit for each day that comes to $300 spending? Also, do casino charges count? Thanks for the help,

Also, do casino charges count? Thanks for the help, You would each get 6 credits. The cap is $300 times the number of days on board, but it does not matter what days the actual spending occurs. Casino charges do not count. Edited March 10, 2015 by jtl513

PatsyAnne Posted March 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 10, 2015 If you're feeling guilty, I could use 6 days to get to free laundry. [emoji57]
HALaftSuitesfor2 Posted March 10, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted March 10, 2015 We each get the same number of credits? I am wondering because this year we are on a 38 day cruise and after suite credits, before we do anything, we are 34 away from 4 star. If we each get the same credit, it might be close. We also plan to buy future cruise credit for next year's cruise but our PCC said that didn't count?

Purchasing your cruise or a future cruise deposit does not count. DaveOKC

HALaftSuitesfor2 Posted March 10, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Do you know if you load your account with credit, if you don't use it all and they refund back to your credit card, like happened last year, do they give days based on what went onto the account or only what was actually spent? freestyling Posted March 10, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 10, 2015 It is based on what is spent per cabin
Cruising-along Posted March 10, 2015 #17 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Those credits really add up fast, especially if you do shore excursions, buy in the gift shops, play bingo, etc. etc. -- anything other than the casino and future cruise credits (that I can think of). And HAL seems quite generous by rounding up too. :)
royal65 Posted March 10, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Do ship to shore, HAL air and pre and post cruise hotels count toward the spending credit?
jtl513 Posted March 10, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) Do ship to shore, HAL air and pre and post cruise hotels count toward the spending credit? If by "ship to shore" you mean transfers to/from the airport, I think they would count if you buy them on board, but not sure if pre-purchased. Maybe they would if treated as an "excursion" and counted. The air and pre/post hotels are not considered on-board spending. At least we didn't get credit for them on our last use of them. :)from the FAQ's: 14. Are any onboard charges excluded from the onboard purchases bonus? All casino charges, cash advances, Future Cruise deposits, and associated fees are excluded. All other onboard purchases, for example, Hotel Service Charge, Beverage Service Charge, taxes, shore excursions and all gift items purchased online or through Ship Services count towards bonus Cruise Day credits. not sure how it works for 3 or 4 3rd and 4th only get actual days, no bonus day credits Edited March 10, 2015 by jtl513

jtl513 Posted March 10, 2015 #21 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Ground tour days in Alaska counts if done through HAL. Right, I had forgotten about them. At first they didn't count, but about a year after our AK Cruise-Tour they changed the rules and gave us credit for them.

ETinCA Posted March 11, 2015 #24 Share Posted March 11, 2015 What happens if you spent say 1800 so it was worth 6 days credit. But you had on board credits worth $1000 (explore 4, stock credit, etc). Do they deduct that so its only worth $800 (2 days credit)?

Obc does not affect it.
