I've never felt id get better service by giving extra tips... But I do tip extra from time to time if we have felt we have received special service from particular crew members!

 

If you do choose to you can indeed add it to your see pass when you get your receipt to sign... If you have the premium package you won't normally get a receipt tho as you don't need to sign anything... You can ask for one but might be a better idea to bring some cash if you feel you will want to tip extra!

Crew members appreciate cash tips. Does it get you better service? Most definitely! The server is going to take care of a cash tipping customer first. That money goes straight into their pocket. Some on this forum will argue this. It's your choice to tip extra. If you feel value in it, do it. Hey, an extra dollar tip goes a long way IMO.

You also will want at least some cash on hand in the ports as well I would think. How much depends where you are going and what you plan to do.

We always use cash for gambling...when it's gone, you stop!! Yes...they will break larger bills...so don't bring wads of small bills...too hard to carry!

We usually spend $50-150 at each port. You can't possibly go on a cruise and bring no cash. We bring about $1000 and always have some left over. We don't gamble

I believe the fee to withdraw cash from the ATM onboard was $4 or $4.50. My bank reimburses ATM fees, so for me it wasn't a big deal. If you withdraw more than $90, then it's cheaper than taking cash out via the casino.

Thanks for clarifying. I knew it was higher than I'm used to seeing but didn't have the exact number with me. So, you'd have to withdraw more than $120 for it to be more economical than charging through the casino.

 

IMO, it's easiest to just bring cash with you when you board. You can always deposit it back in your account after your trip if you don't use cash day-to-day.

Hi .. we will be on Celebrity Solstice in December from Auckland to Sydney. I imagine that the ATM will dispense US dollars even though the ships currency will be on Australian dollars ... is that correct ... or am I still confused?. I would like to bring some US dollars for tipping bar staff and am not sure if better to get money from the arm and change to small bills at the casino or bring it with me ... although I would have to purchase US dollars from a currency exchange here in Australia. stevedores

room service

tour guides

Really? I've gone on both of mine with no cash. You don't need cash for anything onboard unless you plan to gamble or to bribe the service staff, sorry, I mean, to "provide extra tips."

From what Captain's Club told me that as of May 2015, if you have access to Michaels, then the fee is waived.
