Oceania casino management change

As of June 1 Oceania and Regent are ending Century Casino management of their casinos, although Century will continue to "consult" with Oceania/Regent for a year. Sounds like a consolidation with NCL casino operations is in the works. I have found Century managed Oceania casinos to be spotty in courtesy and efficiency for players. Hopefully this will mark an improvement. As one who will be on an Oceania cruise on the changeover date I am curious if any changes will be apparent right away. Following is the news release:

Hmm. Nice roll of the dice for Century on their way out!

Interesting. I don't gamble so I have no dog in this hunt, but it's interesting that some significant changes took place at CAS (Casino At Sea) on NCL around the beginning of April. The theoretical loss to be "comped" was increased about 40%, the cabin booking discount was cut in half and some other changes, such as in drink cards. These changes are being blamed on FDR, even though he doesn't manage the casino.

Great, maybe now they will get rid of "single" odds on craps. Maybe even like Celebrity which has three, four and five times odds.

+1 on this! I love playing craps but the problem on Oceania has been 1) the table is never open and 2) the no odds setup is pretty laughable. I've actually done fairly well when I AM able to play, but I wouldn't think that luck would continue without odds being added to the table. Do they have a craps table on the smaller R class ships? I'm sailing my first non-O-class ship next year after 3 great trips on Marina.

Given how little i see the casino used on the cruises I take ( a good blackjack game once in a while and a fe suckers at the slots)-- I have never seen anyone shooting craps or playing roulette), most cruisers will not care about nor be affected by this change.

We are hoping the shops will be changed. It's not that we want to buy anything on board but sometimes we have a large non refundable OBC and we HAVE to buy something. The choices are awful.

  • 2 months later...

I was on the Marina from May 18 to June 3. Staff is the same and will be retained. Chips are no longer Century chips. Chips are Oceania chips and they do not have $2.50 chips. Similar to many Vegas hotels, they pay non even dollar bets (eg. $5.00 blackjack pays $$7.50) with one dollar chips plus two quarters…pain in the neck. If you are looking for any significant changes, I do not see any yet. Knowing that Norwegian has a pretty flourishing casino program, I think it is likely they will offer casino credit, which Century really did not. The casino staff was the nice, but pretty lethargic and inefficient team I have seen on most Oceania cruises.

Was on Marina from the 3rd to the 17th. Found the casino staff as you did. Other than one or two, not friendly at all. Actually helped me to stay away

Last Riviera cruises I was on had NO Blackjack Tournament and reallly often no one at all at the tables or slots.

And my cruise last month on the Marina was not too much better. Maybe for a short time after the show the blackjack table had a little action going but then I played one on one much of the time.
