SteveH2508 Posted May 18, 2015 #51 Share Posted May 18, 2015 The coffee card is supposed to be mostly for punches for specialty coffees and Gelato. Since each of those is a punch it doesn't matter how many people are using it. If you are using it to just get the freshly brewed, however (which is "free" with the card and doesn't use any punches), the staff member might only be willing to make one at a time. Thanks for that - I am getting more and more glad that NCL f**ked us off with their stupidity and we looked at and booked Princess again.:D

Colo Cruiser Posted May 19, 2015 #54 Share Posted May 19, 2015 We never saw free coffee at the IC on the Regal before 6am. We were there everyday before heading out in the Med. :(
Kamloops50 Posted May 19, 2015 #55 Share Posted May 19, 2015 On the Coral Princess this last May. Coffee wasn't free all night.
G&T Cruisers Posted May 19, 2015 #56 Share Posted May 19, 2015 We were on the Regal and they had fresh brewed coffee in the buffet area (not the syrup stuff that is on the Grand class ships) so we hardly used our coffee card, and the coffee was really good. Miss Pat Posted May 19, 2015 #57 Share Posted May 19, 2015 On the Royal the IC had free perked coffee each morning till 6 AM without having to use the coffee card. (it wasn't any better than the stuff in the buffet)
latebloomer56 Posted May 19, 2015 #58 Share Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) I have found the HC always open not true for the IC (on a few trips this was closed until 5 AM or on Pacific later). I started taking instant packets a few years ago so will always get hot water if needed. Also note that the casino sets out a table for coffee, tea, and little breakfast treats on other ships so I assume if the slots are open (fingers crossed) this is also the case on the Regal. I always purchase a coffee card for each trip. I like my mid AM latte (around 7 for me) from the IC. I don't think I will need another card this trip if they have the coffee stated above at HC 24/7 as the syrup coffee although not bad just didn't seem to have the AM kick I was looking for. I have 10 punches from our Pacific trip left and know the brewed will need a Regal card but will use these punches for my Lattes and not require a Regal card this Oct. trip. Thanks for these posts folk's didn't know the Regal switched to bean coffee at the HC which I hope is 24/7. Kamloops50 Posted June 22, 2015 #62 Share Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) Most countries don't allow you to bring coffee or unpackaged food ashore. Only factory sealed products are allowed ashore. Yes we took our cappuccino with us every day on our port calls. I do the same but be aware that SOMETIMES they won't let you take liquids on the tenders if you are at a tender port. I could never tell in advance if they would let me take my coffee or make me get rid of it.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted June 22, 2015 #65 Share Posted June 22, 2015 If you are the Royal or Regal Princess the buffet will have coffee that is brewed from fine coffee that is in the top of the coffee machine. Has this been confirmed? Because when I asked three crew members on the Royal Princess they all said that it was the same syrup coffee and the beans were there for decoration. To the best of my knowledge, WMF doesn't make coffee machines that use coffee syrup and I doubt that they modified one of their filter coffee machines to use coffee syrup. DW liked the coffee from those machines so well that she visited the IC only a couple of times to get an Americano before leaving for an early morning tour. Because when I asked three crew members on the Royal Princess they all said that it was the same syrup coffee and the beans were there for decoration. I've also asked crew & even seen them adding ground coffee to the machine & not merely for decoration. As we all know, info from crew is not always accurate because on the Royal & Regal it's not made from coffee concentrate. I have a photo of one of the coffee machines on the Regal which shows that it is a WMF combiNation F which is a filter coffee machine. Somewhere I also have photos of the WMF coffee machines which on Princess use ground coffee. Here's a link to their coffee machines & the "WMF combiNation F" is capable of producing up to 500 cups of filtered coffee per hour & none of their coffee machines use concentrated coffee. http://www.wmf-coffeemachines.com/products/filter-coffee-machines.html Like your wife, it tasted good enough for me to make fewer trips to the IC for brewed coffee. :) Edited June 23, 2015 by Astro Flyer

Astro Flyer Posted June 23, 2015 #69 Share Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) This ground could be a form of instant coffee. If you look at the WMF website you'll see their machines only use ground or whole bean coffee. I also know the difference between instant & ground coffee and it was NOT instant coffee. Edited June 23, 2015 by Astro Flyer
schlot Posted June 23, 2015 #70 Share Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) On the CB it was generally available around in the HC at 5am, but "officially" available like Pam said at 530am. Edited June 23, 2015 by schlot
