Gift Shop Question

First time Princess Cruise coming up, does the ship gift shop sell Lanyards with the plastic holder attached? I thought it would be neat to have a one from Princess as a souvenir but if they don't sell them, I'll break down and buy a plain one before we go.

I got a package of plastic sleeves from Walmart (some office supply stores sell them too). I use one for my lanyard and the rest we use to hold the Princess luggage tags. We fold the printed out forms and insert into the sleeve and attach to the luggage, camera bag, etc. with a cable tie.

They sell lanyards with a clip, but not a plastic sleeve. The clerk is happy to punch a hole in the card to use the clip.

THANK YOU! I also was wondering that. If I budget about $10 will I be ok price wise? Monogrammed lanyards and pens are on my souvenir shopping list-EVERYONE can use a pen! Some of my friends are really challenging-1 asked if she could send money with me to buy her a tshirt so there went my choice of gift for her :(:mad: I've got her down for a teddy bear, some boxed chocolates, and a mug, she knows I'll be getting her a teddy bear, have always brought her home a soft toy panda bear when I travel to the Adelaide Zoo until she had all the dressed panda sizes available!

I think the card is already laminated, might be wrong as I'm counting down the days-after a cancellation for "operational reasons" of my original planned cruise, so an absolute newbie here and not ashamed to scour Cruise Critic for all the useful information I can find-have completely filled 1 writing pad already!:)

No need to buy one, stop at the casino they'll punch your card and give you a free one. Don't remember seeing any lanyards or holders in the gift shop with princess logos.

This fall on the Regal the pool bar bartender had a box of Princess shot glasses to give out. Not too many people were interested so he gave me a box of nine of them which worked out to be a good souvenir stocking stuffer.

It's been a while since I purchased a lanyard onboard, but I did see them on my cruises last December, I think the price is in the $4-5 range or so? They come in red, blue, black and maybe pink? with the Sea Witch logo. Here is photo of a blue one I found online Princess Cruises ID lanyard

You may not realize it but there are those (ME for instance!) who envy you. A person only gets ONE "first cruise". It can be one of the most wonderful and eye opening experiences of a lifetime. There is no reason to have to proclaim that you are "not ashamed" to ask questions. My first cruise was a fantastic experience that changed my life. I sincerely hope yours proves to be the same. While some people may look down on "the blue card people" I always look at them with just a bit of envy.

Please ask any and all questions you have and don't ever think they might be "foolish" or "stupid" questions. Ask away! That's one of the primary purposes of these forums.

THANK YOU! A friend wears a lanyard for her work, so souvenir lanyards for her and her boss who sent some EXTREMELY useful information to me via C. my friend are now on my shopping list. The supervisor was cruising with P. & O. (Aust.) and advised I be warned to get a Disabled Accessible Stateroom to guarantee my safety in the bathroom-accustomed to grab rails in the bathroom!

Thank You Thrak, I've enjoyed many of your posts too!

I'm a member of another online social group and will be posting a comprehensive report with photos of my cruise.

I did note to state whether a photo was taken facing the bow, port, stern or starboard; and where I am-deck and precise room eg Horizon Court and forward, amidship or aft to help those that are reading my report have a clearer picture.

My TA is going to help me print my Cruise Documents. I did read a hint on here, unfortunately don't remember the exact thread, about making sure ALL Cruise Booking Documents were printed and with you, particularly if you are, as I will be, a Blue Card newbie sailing in a Suite. Careful budgeting/saving and a kind friend who told me about the Disabled Accessible Window Suite enabled the upgrade from a Premium Balcony on Aloha Deck!

It's going to be a VERY Memorable Belated 50th Birthday Present to myself! I'm hoping that by the time I go to Sabatini's for breakfast on the Saturday morning, I'll be certain that a stop at the Future Cruise Certificate Sales area is ESSENTIAL!

A bit under 72 weeks and 6 days until Embarkation Day! Yes, I am wildly excited at the countdown-every week is a milestone!

Yes; they're either $4.95 or $5.95 each, have the Princess name and logo on them, and come in black, blue, pink, and maybe 1 or 2 other colors. I LOVE them and wear them at work. They may have a buy 3, get a discount deal on them, too. Also, the outlet sale they have in the dining room once or twice per cruise was selling special Alaska cruise themed ones; I didn't check the price, but that would definitely be a souvenir. The lanyards don't have plastic sleeves, though.

After years of using different lanyards and holders, I use the lightest possible one. I have one that is of stretchy, comfortable material about shoelace width, and now use a card holder you put the card in width-wise, if you know what I'm saying. The opening is along the long edge of the card. On Royal Caribbean, I won several lanyards with holders at trivia and the holders are more useful than the lanyards.

I agree with Thrak. Following your posts, Crochetcruise, I think I'm almost as excited for you as you are for yourself! You are doing everything first class.:)

Make sure you take print outs of any entitlements

OBC

Free meals

Drinks packages

That sort of thing, normally all is OK but better safe than sorry.

THANK YOU! Very well spotted, the TA's watching for the On Board Credit I'm supposed to receive due to the original cruise being cancelled, but I didn't think of asking her for a print out to confirm it. Drinks and gifts from Gift Services will be organised by the TA online the day of the last payment.

Cruise Critic to the rescue again!

THANK YOU! OOOOH! Alaska themed lanyards! A super present idea for my friend! That's my dream-to win enough on Lotto to be able to bring my friend and the TA to Alaska sailing the Regal Princess with each of us in a Penthouse Suite. The Regal Princess is the only ship I know of, other than the Caribbean, Golden and Grand Princesses with a Disabled Accessible Window Suite to have a Full Service Suite equipped for a person with Disabilities.

Still, I at least have SOME chance of cruising, it could be a lot worse!

Once I found the 2 night Cruise from Melbourne to Sydney, my original choice of a 3 night cruise on P. & O.'s Pacific Jewel went out the window! Going with Princess I get to transit through Tullamarine (Melbourne) Airport; sail through the notorious Melbourne Rip which should test my balance and tolerance to rough water trying to provoke seasickness; and negotiate Mascot Airport in Sydney by myself.

When Princess Cruises cancelled the original choice of April 17-19, 2016, I got straight on the website and searched for Golden Princess cruises in Australia-New Zealand for 1-5 days and found this choice. It's an additional 24 hours at sea; $35 cheaper than the original cruise; better weather in my Spring rather than sailing in my Fall season; and Princess Cruises is providing me with AUD$55 On Board Credit for the disruption of the cancelled cruise.

Thank you for the information! I think this is what I will do. When we go on excursions, I carry my cruise card with my DL and credit card so the plastic sleeve is what I need.

Exactly when and where will a passenger actually need to show their cruise card other than going to and from the ship while visiting a port or for paying for something a passenger has purchased on board? I've cruised for many years and very rarely have I ever had to show any card issued to me by the line except when leaving or returning to the ship. My card stays in an accessible pocket that isn't difficult to get to should the card actually need to be produced. Lanyards and camera straps also have a tendency to not be good neighbors.

The lanyards at the gift shop are Princess-themed; there may be others, too. I'd probably wait on port lanyards and get them on land.

(I've been sorry about a missed shore trinket at Juneau since 2009...a Russian nesting doll of Tom Brady, our favourite American football player.)

Please do remember when going ashore you will need your cruise card to leave the ship & reboard, and usually a government ID card.

They're the only times.

But hey some seem to love 'em.

I use a lanyard for my house key for security, lock the door from the outside, hang the lanyard around my neck and tuck it under my shirt, and I can't be locked out of my unit. Safe storage and hands-free too!

The cards are used in the slot machines in the casino.
