Donny-Joe Posted June 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2015 If we pre-book an excursion, spa, specialty dining, etc., does that count towards earning Mariner Society points? I'm assuming not, since they specifically say "on-board spending" but thought it was worth checking.
Rare POA1 Posted June 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Yes. If you pay for it, it counts. Freebies do not.
ehogan Posted June 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Thanks, that is great news. I have booked all excursions for our trip on line at a significant cost. I love booking on line, no lineups and no disappointments with sellouts.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2015 After your cruise is over, it will take HAL a few days to figure out how many extra points you will get as they add together everything you spend on the ship as well as everything you have pre-booked. You get 1 point for every $300 you spend.
clogaltocruise Posted June 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2015 The 1 point per $300 maxes out at the number of days your cruise is ... ie: 10 day cruise can earn you 10 bonus days if you spend $3,000. clogaltocruise Posted June 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Also, all charges to your room count, even your daily housekeeping/gratuity postings. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
sppunk Posted June 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2015 And they are very giving on extra spending credits. If you spend, say $650, you'll probably get three bonus days.
Donny-Joe Posted June 23, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Great! I was thinking it might be a good idea to hold off on booking some stuff so we'd have more onboard spending. Good thing I asked!
kicia Posted June 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Do the extra days count for everyone in the cabin? If the amount charged to the cabin is $300 will both people get the extra day or just the main person? Thank you!

ellieanne Posted June 24, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 24, 2015 In my experience, the pre-booked spending goes to the cabin, not necessarily the one who paid for it. On my last cruise, my parents pre-booked dinner and a beverage card for me & my husband and it counted towards MY mariner days, not theirs, even though we booked it through their credit card and their reservation number. I know this is a special case, because we were not sharing a cabin, but if you're looking to up your Mariner days with on-board spending for someone else, it might be helpful to look at where the spending is being credited. jtl513 Posted June 24, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) Gifts from TA's, family, or friends (PG dinners, wine, flowers, etc) also count. Do the extra days count for everyone in the cabin? Only the first two people, not any 3rd or 4th.. Edited June 24, 2015 by jtl513
JPH814 Posted June 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Do tour days prior to a cruise count? For example, we have a 10 day cruise/tour (alaska) which is 7 night cruise and three nights before - one anchorage and two denali

FLACRUISER99 Posted June 24, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Yes, they do. But only in Alaska. I did a 5 day post cruise trip to Manchu Picchu with HAL and no points were awarded.

I booked an 11 day land/cruise (in Alaska) and assumed all HAL cruise/tours would qualify. Thank you for the information.
DaveOKC Posted June 24, 2015 #17 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Yes. If you pay for it, it counts. Freebies do not. Interesting comment on freebies. I know that if I got a free signature beverage package, for example, that this would not count. However, I am getting $800 in shore excursion OBC from the Anniversary Sale. Will this amount count toward my days? I always thought it did, but now I am not sure.

It depends on how they classify the payment. For example, we've always gotten a bottle of Champagne (Nicolas Feuillatte Blue Label) and a Pinnacle Grill dinner from American Express. Those monies didn’t count toward the $300 per cruise day credit.

The OBC won't count - but once you spend it on board it does. Translation - if it went unused no benefit - use it up and you have credit towards your days. All my spending has counted whether I had OBC gifted to me or not by HAL, TA, whatever.
