Do pre-booked food/excursions count toward mariner points?

If we pre-book an excursion, spa, specialty dining, etc., does that count towards earning Mariner Society points? I'm assuming not, since they specifically say "on-board spending" but thought it was worth checking.

In my experience, the pre-booked spending goes to the cabin, not necessarily the one who paid for it. On my last cruise, my parents pre-booked dinner and a beverage card for me & my husband and it counted towards MY mariner days, not theirs, even though we booked it through their credit card and their reservation number.

I know this is a special case, because we were not sharing a cabin, but if you're looking to up your Mariner days with on-board spending for someone else, it might be helpful to look at where the spending is being credited.

Gifts from TA's, family, or friends (PG dinners, wine, flowers, etc) also count.

Do the extra days count for everyone in the cabin?
Only the first two people, not any 3rd or 4th.

But only in Alaska. I did a 5 day post cruise trip to Manchu Picchu with HAL and no points were awarded.

Did not know that. I booked an 11 day land/cruise (in Alaska) and assumed all HAL cruise/tours would qualify. Thank you for the information.

Yes. If you pay for it, it counts. Freebies do not.

Interesting comment on freebies. I know that if I got a free signature beverage package, for example, that this would not count.

However, I am getting $800 in shore excursion OBC from the Anniversary Sale. Will this amount count toward my days? I always thought it did, but now I am not sure.

It depends on how they classify the payment. For example, we've always gotten a bottle of Champagne (Nicolas Feuillatte Blue Label) and a Pinnacle Grill dinner from American Express. Those monies didn’t count toward the $300 per cruise day credit.

The OBC won't count - but once you spend it on board it does.

Translation - if it went unused no benefit - use it up and you have credit towards your days.

All my spending has counted whether I had OBC gifted to me or not by HAL, TA, whatever.
