Purchasing On Board

Recommended Posts

Because I could not find current information I am asking here so if this is repeat question I apologize. I have been on 3 prior cruises and am going on another in August but I have never purchased a cruise on board before. We are planning a girls getaway for 2017 on Harmony of the Seas. I know that we go to the Next Cruise desk to book them but what is the process and what is included? Reduced deposit and OBC??? Thanks for the help :)

Yes, reduced deposit and OBC based on stateroom category and length of the future cruise:

•5-7 night cruises

Interior/Oceanview: $50

Balcony/Junior Suite: $100

Grand Suite and above: $200

•8-10 night cruises

Interior/Oceanview: $100

Balcony/Junior Suite: $150

Grand Suite and above: $300

•11-14 night cruises

Interior/Oceanview: $150

Balcony/Junior Suite: $200

Grand Suite and above: $400

•15 nights or longer cruises

Interior/Oceanview: $200

Balcony/Junior Suite: $250

Grand Suite and above: $500

Your deposit is equal to the OBC, regardless of the number of guests in the stateroom.

Note also that you can opt to take the OBC immediately, or on the future cruise. If you take the OBC immediately, your deposit becomes non-refundable.

Can I make the reservations for those going in our group when I am on board? I guess what I am asking is if I can book all five rooms (or what ever the #) for the group or only mine? I know that I would need their info to take with me but I don't know if I can do that.

I don't know if there is a limit, but I've been able to book a future cruise for others that are not on the current cruise.

You can book as many as you want. That was one question I asked my NextCruise specialist when I booked my next two trips.

If you book it though, you have to put down the deposit per room obviously. (That's one of the benefits booking onboard... the deposit is per stateroom instead of per person.)

My plan was to tell those going that I am going in August and those wanting to put down a reduced deposit I would need your money and info by XX date to take with me and then they would be able to continue from there with their payments on the rooms.

That would work. You would need to book with credit card though, so you could either take their CC info, or charge it all on yours.

You should be in good shape then! Have fun and enjoy the cruise! :D

Depends on the promo, but reduced deposit, usually $100/person, and usually OBC.

The deposit and OBC are determined by cabin category and number of nights. It is no longer on a per person basis. It could be as low as $50 per cabin and as high $500.

OBC can be applied to current cruise you are booking on (which then makes the deposit on the future cruise non-refundable) or applied to the future cruise.

Suites (GS and above) no longer require a double deposit when booking.

You should go to the Next Cruise desk on boarding day and sign up for a reservation to see the future sales person. There should be a book available to do so. If no reservation book on the first day, go first thing the second day. Resevations go fast and without a reservation, you could wait a very long time.

Thinking about my intention to book a cruise for next summer while I'm onboard the Radiance in Alaska, at this point I will be going on my own, but given that I am looking at a year away, anything can happen. I was thinking today "What if I meet someone between now and then?"

Would I have to have a name for a second person at the time of booking or could I make a reservation for two people to lock in the price so that the second person isn't charged a lot more and then give a name later in the process?

I would book a second person, so that you freeze the price for them. You can change the name up to 24 hours before the cruise.

Yes, you would need to give a name for the second person at the time you make your initial reservation. They'll also ask you for that person's DOB. Just give them any name you want and either make up a birthday or tell them you don't know it.

As long as ONE person stays the same on the reservation from start to end, you can change the other names as much as you like. Just give RCL a call (or your TA) and let them know the new name and DOB of the person and who is being removed.

It's a pretty straight forward process. :)

We asked not to take the OBC on the current cruise, but they applied it to the current cruise anyway. Oh well - wasn't worth the hassle. Six is half a dozen of the other. ;)

Cool. I can put my sister's name and birthday on there (I'm trying to talk her into going anyway since we share a birthday (not twins though) and it's a big year for both of us). Thanks!

Awesome! That is what my thinking was going towards - lock in that rate. I'd need to cancel the second person before the PIF date to not get charged a fee though, right?

BOOK THE CRUISE NOW!

If you wait until your next cruise to book there is a very good chance that the price will have gone up and negated any savings that the OBC offered. There are currently great deals on the Harmony which I don't foresee lasting that long.

If you book now and by the time you go on your next cruise if the price hasn't gone up then simply cancel and rebook in order to get the OBC.

So the only info I would need on the others going is the names and DOB? I thought maybe I would need socials or something of the like

You want to make sure you get the names exactly as they are on passports, or whatever they intend to use as ID documents.
