White Bay ferry service

Recommended Posts

I am presuming they will only operate the service on the days a ship is berthed at White Elephant Bay.

It will be very handy for in transit ships that are visiting Sydney for the day as long as they notify the Shore Excursion Office on board of the timetable so passengers can plan for their day in Sydney. As far as arriving for a cruise , I doubt very many will use the service . For anyone arriving at the airport they will have to get to Barangaroo, or the OPT, so might as well grab a cab that will go direct. After all you are on holiday ...why be bothered schlepping bags around and lifting them on and off ferries.

I was told that is one issue under consideration, ship day on;y or part of a regular service.

The difference is you can get the train to Wynyard or Circular Quay. and for those staying in the City before departing it will make things a lot easier.

NOW, I understand! I did get that a lot of it was banter, and enjoyed the cross fire. In Canada we partake in quite a bit if this too, do it sounded somewhat familiar. Thanks to those who explained the proposed ferry. I do hope it gets up and running for those who will benefit from it on their closer to home journeys.

We went to the Star complex the last time we visited to see Mama Mia....I am starting to research what is on there this trip as well as at the opera house. I suppose the new casino complex may have some theatre venues too....how wonderful for your city and people. Seems I m looking just a tiny bit too early...sure wish we were there New Years eve...sounds like it is quite amazing!

Again, thanks for taking the time to explain.....appreciatedaa. Have fun kibitzing with your friends! Cheers Marg

Feel free to join in.

Not sure Bangaroo Casino will be open when you are hear, it's still being built.

NYE is pretty special in Sydney, would love to be on a cruise ship at the OPT one year. But that isn't likely to happen.

And if you think this is kibitzing wait till the Aussie and Kiwis start on each other, [just don't let anyone else start or they'll be to each other's defence in a flash, a bit like siblings].

I agree for those coming from the airport but for those coming in by train or bus it will make a difference.:D

It gives people a choice and that's the important thing.

Gee  After all this assumption and speculation, I hope my information is correct ..... we may end up with nothing :o:o

Don't worry, at least we have nutted out the potential issues with the speculated proposals.;)

Maybe they'll have a bag drop counter at Barrangaroo. That would be great! No lugging our heavy bags on the ferry and people staying in the city could drop their bags in the morning and then have a few hours to sight see unencumbered. I wonder what they'll do about all the luggage on the return journey though. It is actually the return journey where the ferry is more appealing. The taxi queue on disembarkation must be diabolical!

That would be great eve without the ferry, somewhere in the city you could drop your bags and then make your way to White Bay later in the day.

I doubt they would have that with the offered ferry service but we can hope. Last cruise, there were lots of taxis and we only waited for around 5 minutes. The traffic into the city however was morning peak hour.

Unfortunately The Red Carpet had to be shelved last season due to an "equipment malfunction" (and the electrician pinched it )and if you are sailing from Melbourne on your next cruise you are obviously not sailing Royal Caribbean or Celebrity so therefore are not worthy of the Red Carpet Treatment from me........unless of course you want to pay my airfare down to Melbourne on the day:D:D

Hello Graham

Well looking at Tiger's website we could get you to Melbourne and back for $125-00 that would be easy to claim as a travel expense , but you would have to obtain a new "red carpet"

But think of the Fame and Kudos you would earn ... you should pay us for the honor ........

Glad to see you are in fine fettle :p

Best regards

John

PS we are on Golden Princess for a 14 days trip to the Islands on March 8th

But are still plotting a 2017 trip with a party of approx 19 People ... now that would tax the old "red carpet" would it not :D

Nah he'll just throw it at you and say stand there.

But you do feel speshil, when you ask for him and the other staff say, "Ohhh you are one of the speshial people are you?"

Your "entourage" is the reason they are bringing the Ovation to Australia. Needed a bigger ship to accommodate them all :D:D:D

I hadn't thought of this, but do they put more staff on for ships like Ovation.

Or do they just rely on Graham and Jo's efficiency.
