I wish we would have! Just off Getaway this morning. What horrendous service on a ship that is so poorly designed you feel like cattle being ushered through gates. Never again NCL!!

Maybe you put 6 people in an inside cabin!

Ah, no.

3 of us in a balcony. One of which is a 7 year old.

This ship was a JOKE.

Care to elaborate? Having between on Breakaway for 19 days, and Getaway for 7.... I do not share your perspective.

What's your theoretical loss in the Casino for your 'free' cruise?

I'm not going to post that here as it would be like posting how much I win or lose....and I don't think it's anyone's business. However, no matter if the cruise is 'free' or I pay for the cruise....I'm still going to gamble the same amount of money,

Different strokes for different folks, if everyone liked the same things it would be a boring world. Their experience doesn't lessen yours and your experience does not enhance theirs.

My neighbors recently came back from a Carnival cruise and they said they would never cruise with them again, mainly because the food was so bad, in their opinion. They also cruise on Princess, NCL and Holland America.

Opinions do differ. I prefer NCL over Carnival for several reasons but food isn't one of them. If I'm comparing the two today, I don't see much of a difference between the two lines in the MDR food.

Food is very subjective but most people seem to think NCls is a little better and now, since they changed thier MDR menu it has greatly imporved, but again, we all have our own ideas about food. I enjoy most of what we get on NCL; more so than say, Princess. I haven't cruise Carnival in some time. EVen if you sailed the two lines in the past 6 months, have you sailed NCL since the new menu?

No I haven't tried the new menu. All my NCL cruises have had the same menu, including the one I just completed two weeks ago in Alaska on the Sun.

I am not saying that NCL has bad food or else I wouldn't have just turned Platinum with them, just that between my two recent sailings, Carnival's was better.

I was gonna say, in order to gamble enough to get free cruises you must live in the casinos. I go for a little bit but don't see much sense in it. Who wants to pay for a cruise then lose a bunch of money?

Getting back to the question this thread is about, No I have not canceled my cruise but I am not feeling excited about it either. 14 night in October. Final payment due in two weeks. I have been looking into other cruise lines and land base vacations. I have only sailed NCL and have always loved it but now I fear I will get on the ship and be getting poor service. Still on the fence of whether to cancel and do a different vacation. I can just imagine there will be a lot more cutbacks coming. Will wait also to see what NCL announces on 8/4. Once I make that final payment I can not cancel without penalty no matter what NCL decides to cut next or expense to add on. We'll see!!

I'm not a big fan of the Getaway either. Poorly designed for all of those people, inside anyway.

Anyone who uses the UBP promo, has to be coming out ahead in this deal.

This is especially true with the August promos. If you aren't a drinker you are now only entitled to $75 worth of SDP on a 7 day cruise -- four dinners.

I suspect a lot of cruisers, even savvy CC members, are unaware of the degree to which NCL's current promos are having the effect of making non-drinkers subsidize the tipplers.

True, but if you're enough of a theoretical-sucker you can cruise 'free' on just about any line.

I just cancelled our Alaskan cruise on the Pearl for next year. I am looking at Princess now. Although truthfully we may end up back on Carnival since we can get a balcony cabin for the price of insides on other lines - but no glacier bay. I will see how everything plays out in the next year and decide later. Still waiting for the start date for our school year in 2016 - the schedule isn't out yet.

To answer the OP's original question-----would I cancel my bookings on NCL. If I had a booking at this time, no I would not cancel. Why, because that would not be worth it, since I can opt not to spend on things I don't want. The extra DSC is not a huge expense, and if flights were involved, changes would be an expensive pain in the tush.

However, we might look eslewhere in the future.

I'm cancelling a bunch of them. I'm looking elsewhere, and I never thought I'd say it. I've been accused more than once of being a cheerleader, nothing like the crazy new cheerleader recruits, but I've officially hung up my pompoms. I have a couple already paid for that I will go on, but that's it for a while.
