"free" drinks for Diamond and suite guests

I'm on Explorer in Europe later this year and dithering whether to buy a drinks package or not.

As a Diamond member, and purchasing a GS grade suite, what "free" drinks are available to me?

I understand that I can get "free" drinks in the Concierge Lounge from about 5.30pm. onwards. Are there any other times?

For me, I'd rather be "out and about" drinking...not having to sit in the lounge whenever I wanted a drink.

If you intend to make full use of the available drinks, then a "package" might not be worth it...you will probably get off cheaper just buying drinks as you go outside of the CL.

Negative. SeaPass cards are loaded with 3 free drinks during those times nightly to be used at any bar on the ship.

You will also have three drink vouchers loaded to your card. You can get a drink (the same kinds you can get in Diamond lounge) at other bars around the ship during the 3-3 1/2 hour time period.

On Splendour recently the Diamond lounge cocktail hours were 5.30 - 9pm. There were also the 3 free drinks per evening on the sea pass. I would collect a couple of glasses of wine on the way to dinner. We also had lunch with officers with free wine, sail into one of the ports with officers with free drinks and the usual welcome back party. Drink package would have been a waste of money for me.

We were on the Freedom this month and went to the lounge and had the coupons but didn't hear anything about drinks at lunch.

You did well to get to diamond before sailing the suite life....you will enjoy the happy hour for the free drinks. The CL is always a pleasant environment for a pre/post dinner drink.... Plus as a diamond geezer you get the pre loaded drinks elsewhere.

 

I think that if you want to drink outside the happy hours it might be best to pay as you go........you will save on the cost of the package because if you pay for the package your free drinks are technically no longer free.......

 

I'm not a mate of Bill W so I find the pay as you go sufficient. Just wish they hadn't decided to remove the wine package at dinner.......

We had a free premium drink package on our Brilliance of the Seas TA last fall. It came as a perk when we booked.

 

We found that we did not use it for many drinks other than the drinks we could get in the lounges. We used it for soft drinks every day [i usually buy the soft drink package] and bottles of water from the bars [usually get glasses of water for free]. We also had 1 frozen drink each day.

 

It would not have been worth it to us to buy a package. We were glad we had this perk so we could answer this question for ourselves now that we are diamond. [likely D+ by end of 2016] We will pay as you go for drinks other than in DL/CL. YMMV

For the drinks loaded onto the seapass, do you know if you can get cans of diet coke or bottles of water with those 3 drink "vouchers". I don't want to drink them at the time, but I would like them for other times.

I've gotten cans of soda with the vouchers, but I've not seen them give bottles of water for the vouchers.

Correct and in the suite lounge beer wine and soda from 11-11.

We were able to use vouchers to get bottled water in the casino on Freedom. I was surprised the CL/DL didn't have any bottles

The only bottles I've seen in the CL/DL are the small bottles of Pellegrino, and I've been able to get those with the vouchers.

I tipped the bartender 5 bucks cash and he made me whatever I wanted..

I know it's five bucks. but the drink would have been 12ish so I figured it was a win for me....

So, I would assume that even though we have the very nice benefit of drinks in the Concierge Lounge from 5 -8.30pm, as we are not C & A members, we won't get the 3 free drinks per day credited to our sea-passes. Would that be correct?

 

And can you tell me please, does the Concierge Lounge on the EOS have a coffee machine?

You will not get the 3 nightly drink vouchers until you are at least Diamond level (80 cruise points or more) in Crown & Anchor.

 

The CL has a complimentary coffee machine that is available 24 hours.

With reference to the above drinks menu, (thank you kccrzr for posting.), does this mean only simple cocktails such as vodka and coke or gin and tonic, or any mix of the listed spirits, is available? Or is that list specifically to cover the vouchers at the bars?

 

Someone recently posted a video taken in the Diamond Lounge on Adventure and it showed what looked like pre-mixed ingredients along with cans of soda, beers, bottles of spirits and wine.

The type of drinks available in the Concierge and Diamond lounges are the same as those available using the 3 nightly vouchers. Basic mixed drinks, no frozen or blender drinks.
