Come join us! Prices are still pretty good and avoids Bahamas (see my cruise history below)

Any cruise that covers Christmas or even moreso New Year's comes at a price premium, but if you look closely you might find one or two that run in between the 25th and the 1st.

We sailed on the Radiance for Christmas last year and were severely disappointed. There was not even a hint of turkey in the dining room on Christmas day. We certainly will not sail the festive season with RCI again!

Not sure a lack of turkey in the south Pacific would be a deal killer for us. We do a Christmas week cruise every year, and they have all been marvelous. :)

We are booked on Allure this Christmas. This will be our 2nd Christmas on Allure, and our 9th at Sea. We LOVE Christmas sailings. The ship is decorated beautifully. There is caroling on the promenade, ice skating on Christmas morning, gingerbread house displays, eggnog, Santa visits, they have special Christmas ice shows. We found plenty of turkey (Main Dining room and Windjammer) - though most of my family made other choices. I decorate the room and the door. We take stockings for the crew and our family.

You can expect more children on board - but it is, after all, Christmas!

SUGGESTIONS: BOOK SOON and be prepared to enjoy the cruise.

thinking of cruising during christmas week any suggestions?

we did it once never again. way too many large multi generational family groups who seemed to travel in packs that overran the public spaces at all hours

the ship was decorated beautifully and the crew had a few extra holiday themed events. one passenger( a rather famous Royal Frequent Sailor ) organized a passenger carol sing. held practices and everything

our port call on the 25th was a complete bust. our tour vendor never showed

the menu got tweaked, but the formal nights didn't so the 'fancy' menu didn't match the suggested attire

it was nice to not have to decorate the house or feel obligated to visit family. but the premium we paid to sail over the holiday made it not something we will do again

the special holiday menu with turkey was on the 24th on Grandeur. the turkey was the same meal served on the everyday menu that has it.

December 23rd on Legend. No surcharges, most of the fun.

How are you getting no premium? I am seeing a per night price of just over $120 (inside) for the Christmas cruise and her other cruises out of Australia are under $100 with many around $80 per night.

Sorry, 23 December (for all you non Americans) was the last night. So no holiday premium.

Gotcha. We are doing the same thing in 2016. Kids and DW are out of school the week prior to Christmas so for once we can get away for our Christmas Holiday without the premium prices. Freedom Dec 18 to 24'th.

Yes, there will be children but, it's very festive and thrilling to cruise during the Christmas holidays. Haven't sailed with Royal this time of year but, have several times on the QE2 and it is always very special.

The ships feature all sorts of decorations, sometimes there are gifts in your cabin and there is wonderful, happy feeling in the air.
