TheGinBoy Posted September 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2015 Hi Guys, I'm off on the October 2nd repositioning cruise aboard Explorer of The Seas. It's a pretty important cruise for us (my 30th Birthday, and celebration of my boyfriend's promotion/new job), so I decided to create a bit of a surprise for him by upgrading (I paid!) from an internal room to one of the new Deck 12 balcony cabins. The only problem is RCCL seems intent on ruining my surprise! The SetSail pass says "DECK 12 BALCONY" all over it, as do the luggage tags "DECK 12 1832". Nightmare. So I have two questions! 1) Is it possible to check in at the pier without the SetSail pass? Obviously we'd bring the passports, credit-cards, etc etc. 2) We're arriving at about 13:30 (once cabins have been released) are we able to just wheel our own luggage onto the ship? Would mean no tell-tale luggage tags! Many thanks for your wise advice! :D
Clarea Posted September 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) You don't need a SetSail to check-in. It will cost you a few minutes longer. You can bring all your luggage on, however it must all be able to fit through an airport type scanner. Edited September 16, 2015 by clarea

At least mine don't Edited September 16, 2015 by SeaUs
TheGinBoy Posted September 16, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted September 16, 2015 The SetSail pass says "E3 Deluxe Oceanview with Balcony" and a GIANT "DECK 12" at the top of it, and the luggage tags say "DECK 12 - 1832" - when he knows we booked a Deck 3 interior. igmurray Posted September 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2015 another option is put on the luggage tags at the pier at last minute without him seeing you. tell him to stand in the queue for check in while you do it. I am on the same cruise as you, when you upgraded did they say how many rooms were left? when we booked at beginning of the year we were told no junior suites left so went for balcony, just wandered if I could upgrade now. see you onboard G

cb at sea Posted September 17, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2015 You don't need ANY of that stuff to check in. Especially, if you've done the online thing...they have the info they need. No worries! Simply get tags from the porter (they all look the same!) and check in as usual.

Congratulations on the surprise. If you're carrying your luggage onboard you don't need to use the luggage tags.
