davekathy Posted October 11, 2015 #26 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Just curious as to what is the protocol for the dirty dishes? Do you return them to WJ' date=' call the room service number or leave them in your room until your next steward visit? Our upcoming will be our first and would like to know what the polite thing to do is.[/quote'] Just leave them in your room. They will magically disappear. Mnamom1105 Posted October 11, 2015 #27 Share Posted October 11, 2015 We haven't done it before, but I am betting it gets done a lot next time around because we will have our 9 year old with us. I personally don't like them outside rooms in the hall, but that is one of those "to each their own".
jayblue Posted October 11, 2015 Author #28 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Just leave them in your room. They will magically disappear. I think I would do this before leaving it outside my door. Unless I don't want to be disturbed.
Mark-Sheffield Posted October 12, 2015 #29 Share Posted October 12, 2015 To be honest we have left dishes outside our room on occasions as well as leaving them for thr steward to remove. I suppose outside your room they do get removed quicker due to staff walking past.
goodycruising Posted October 12, 2015 #30 Share Posted October 12, 2015 Some ships have a kick in at your door. We have put stuff out if it is not in the way. Usually we find it is easy to leave it on the desk or coffee table. It is great to be able to take food or drinks where ever you want, but I couldn't believe people leaving glass at the edge of a whirlpool. It is usually not hard to walk to a table or bench somewhere. Safety should always be considered.
trogmd Posted October 12, 2015 #31 Share Posted October 12, 2015 We just got back off Anthem of the Seas yesterday. I was stopped coming out of the Windjammer and told I could not take my Lemonade out of the restaurant. This was after eating dinner there. The crew member said that it was now their policy that food and drink was not to be taken out of the windjammer. I think this is just in the evenings as I saw people taking food and drink out during the day. I don`t know if this is a new policy or just a overzelous employee. ;)
cisco 09 Posted October 12, 2015 #32 Share Posted October 12, 2015 That's a blow! At the end of each evening hubby is despatched to get glasses of milk and cookies to enjoy while we watch a movie in our cabin. It's always a lovely end to the day ☺

They tried to stop people from taking food out of the restaurants to get them to pay a fee for room service. It backfired. Let RCI try that stuff and see what happens. Rare BillOh Posted October 12, 2015 #34 Share Posted October 12, 2015 I would take it on deck for the movies by the pool, since they don't provide popcorn, but the Aquatheatre is stadium style seating, isn't it? For what little its worth, we sat in the aquatheater one night watching a movie and when the bartender took our order, we asked if there was popcorn available and he brought us some. I knew I liked the Oasis class ships for a reason. It will be a couple of years before I can sail on one, I think.
Sherri914 Posted October 12, 2015 #36 Share Posted October 12, 2015 We never put them in the hall your room steward will pick them up. Last cruise, we kept finding trays of dirty dishes and related trash just outside our door. This kept happening day after day. Finally, somewhere around Day 4 on our cruise we happened to be coming up the hallway at just the precise moment when our neighbor was putting HIS dirty tray outside our door. We watched him leave his cabin, walk to our door, sit the tray on the floor just outside our door, then walked back to his cabin! When we got to the cabin, I picked up his tray, carried it back down to his cabin, knocked on the door, and when he answered, I handed it to him and said "here, I think you dropped this by our door." Never found another tray outside our cabin. ;)

Rare nbsjcruiser Posted October 12, 2015 #38 Share Posted October 12, 2015 It is done everyday, no problems. A lot of people carry food out to eat on the pool deck. I see people bringing food outside to the pool area all the time. Can't see any reason why taking it to your room would be an issue. Its not something I would do but can't imagine why it would be an issue for others.
denatravels Posted October 12, 2015 #39 Share Posted October 12, 2015 The only time we were prvented from taking food out on deck was on a cruise out of California, due to some state law. During the period when we were withing some specific distance from land, we could not have food outside. California has VERY strict rules about bringing fruit in and out of the state-- but whether the food is on deck or in the windjammer, it's still ON the ship. I'm a little surprised to hear that it's an issue.

nivek82 Posted October 12, 2015 #42 Share Posted October 12, 2015 I have been told no to brining food into the vcl of othe bars at night. I sometimes want to grab the game sushi for a late night snack with others so instead I just leave it in the room for later. Way back when on the jewel I was even offered a tray to help carry back to my room.

jayblue Posted October 12, 2015 Author #48 Share Posted October 12, 2015 Duh!!! And I spent all that time on the dance floor there the last time I was on EOS. Them not allowing food there seems fairly reasonable. There are plenty of other places onboard to eat.
Rala Posted October 12, 2015 #49 Share Posted October 12, 2015 You can take food or drink anywhere including casino and any show. we know you "can", but just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I would not want to be seated at a show next to someone chowing down on a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs or whatever, would you?:D;)
