How does Oceania handle price reductions? Do you get them if you call or do you need

I always call my TA when I discover any extra perks added as well as reductions. I have had the price reductions completed as long as it was prior to final payment.

That's what we found out too when I asked our TA about the added benefits. Our cabin category was wait listed and in order to get the new benefits I would have to cancel and rebook into a cabin class with availability.

Actually, a good TA would keep track of price changes and would notify you.

On my trip last year I'd made final payment before it was due, shortly after there was a $300 pp price reduction. I'd booked direct, so I called and got $600 of obc. Was not able to get a refund instead, but the obc worked fine...although we left the ship with over $100 still to spend. We were able to donate it to the crew. (We had prepaid gratuities.)

Yes, I agree a good TA should be looking after you and let you know before it's even public.

Though not always a sure thing, it's also important that you check with TA about any "after final payment" adjusts to your original booking (w/o losing perks).

It's perfectly permissible to discuss the ins and outs of which qualities make, or do not make, a Travel Agent desirable.

 

Recommending a specific Agent is the "no no".
