Winters Gate Posted October 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Is there anyone who has a recommendation of a good pre cruise hotel in Miami? Preferably not too far from the cruise terminal.
chicstersun Posted October 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Holiday Inn or Inter-Continental. Both less than 5 minutes from port. Can see the ship from both hotels.
Paulchili Posted October 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Marriott has several properties very close to port in downtown area - 2 JW's, CY and an M - depending on your price range.
Rare ronrick1943 Posted October 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2015 The JW Marriott downtown is really nice, and the hotel above the Marriott JW is even better (I think it starts with a B). Just a few mins by cab to the port. Rick
wripro Posted October 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2015 The Intercontinental has the best location. I also like the Sofitel.

If you plan to stay for a few days there are some wonderful hotels in South Beach. The area can't be beat. :):):)

All my connections into MIA from the west get me into MIA after 10 pm... I head direct for the Marriott Fairfield which has a breakfast included and free shuttle... Its fast easy and all I need... In the morning...take a cab in cheaper than airport to downtown..then downtown to ship. Marriott is a class act no matter what property.. they have never let me down worldwide... My annual free night from Marriott only gets me into the Fairfield (not Marriott or JW) and my annual free night from IHG gets me into Intercontinental in Miami - no comparison IMO (as I can get into Miami from SFO by 5 PM) :D Hence my limited loyalty to Marrriott :)
Toranut97 Posted October 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2015 Our last two O cruises out of Miami we used the Yves Hotel, a boutique hotel with a view of the harbor. Reasonable price, not too posh but good service. https://www.destinationhotels.com/yve-miami?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=button&utm_campaign=about Donna

When I used to fly to Kuala Lumpur for work , there was always a 7 hour lay over arriving at 11:30pm and the airport hotel always booked, I could not see the worth of taking a cab in, and back 5 hours later and paying $200+.....So there is a spa on the roof with showers and a golf course...put on a sweat suit and grabbed a chase and had a nice bivouac.. camping in Singapore. Rare Keith1010 Posted October 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2015 This question comes up almost daily on the Florida Departures Board. I would recommend also posting this there. Keith
JMBobB Posted October 22, 2015 #12 Share Posted October 22, 2015 Based on a massive single experience, our stay at the Intercontinental is hard to beat. It's close to Whole Foods to buy wine from a good selection and five minute cab ride or less to the ship. Hard to beat the convenience. Schmoe38 Posted October 22, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 22, 2015 We have stayed at the Intercontinental and it was really nice when you book a room that has a direct view of the ships coming in, but we booked the Marriott Biscayne Bay for our next trip in December, as the rate was actually better than what we could get at the Intercontinental. The hotels are both close to the port and the cab ride from the hotel will not break the bank. Randy
515kitty Posted October 26, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Any real difference between the two properties. (Inter Continental or Marriott)We are going on a cruise in February but are finding that the fee is high for both. Which one would you pick and any luck in late check out? JMBobB Posted October 27, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 27, 2015 We asked for a 1 pm checkout at the desk and received an "Of course," with a smile at the Intercontinental. JMBobB
