Loyalty OBC - Quick Question

The incentive is to get 51 credits after which the loyalty credit will have increased to $100.

By the way, the $25 (and the various amounts along the way up to and including the $100) are per cabin.

So the $25 that is not enough to make you book a Princess cruise is really $12.50 a person.

Now that gets me excited. At my current rate of two cruise per year, I'll qualify for the $100 in 2040.

Before I say something that will get me kicked off these boards....

I sail for the pleasure of it, not for every penny I can squeeze out of the company. I really don't understand that attitude. If that's representative of Celebrity cruisers, I will happily stay away.

The elite perks are a bonus, not an entitlement.

I think you're missing the point. Of course, we are all grateful for any benefits the cruise line chooses to bestow. My point has always been that the loyalty program could be more efficient. It does little or no good to provide a series of benefits that are almost impossible to achieve. $100 after fifty cruises?

I find that Princess and Celebrity pricing is comparable. True, my TA provides more OBC for Celebrity than Princess, but she does not discount Celebrity. She discounts Princess but provides less OBC. When you add it up, the costs are pretty much the same. Since I'm not the type that chooses a cruise line strictly on price, the $25 wouldn't even be a factor.

Princess does provide some very attractive benefits such as the military and shareholder OBC. Those are effective but not necessarily decisive in influencing my decision.

I would think the loyalty credit would be per passenger that qualifies. If both passengers have the points to qualify for the credit, it should be on each of their folios. Just thinking.

I agree. We think that the elite benefits are great and the loyalty credit is just another perk to add to the mix. With the free laundry, reasonable amount of free internet minutes, and 2 coffee cards (instead of the mini bar) we are quite pleased.

my thoughts exactly ( well….except for the mini-bar vs. coffee card!)

Actually, the overall experience on our last 2 cruises on Celebrity keeps us coming back to Princess.

We're about to become Platinum on our next Princess cruise, but our cruise credits will be 3.

I have found I get much more bang out of my RCCL loyalty status with it being reciprocal with Celebrity and Azamara. When I joined Azamara's Le Club program I was automatically at the Discoverer level, and when I booked an Azamara cruise while on a Celebrity cruise last May, I received a $250 discount off the price.

I get anywhere from $225 - $350 off balconies on RCCL, and an automatic upgrade on Celebrity worth a few hundred dollars by paying for the lower priced cabin and getting the upgrade.

I'm not complaining about Princess' program, but they seem to be slow to provide any benefits worth much until you reach Elite. As a Platinum, I can get into the happy hour and pay a lower price for drinks, but I get my happy hour drinks for free on RCCL and Celebrity.

That's why Princess is my third choice: I go for the itinerary I can't get on RCCL or Celebrity.

That's on top of any other OBC you can get.

For next year's Panama Canal cruise, we have over $800 in onboard credit!

$250 military

$300 FCD

$250 Shareholder credit

$85 TA

Not too shabby. That's on top of our casino and TA discounts that saved us over $2,000 from the actual cost of the cruise. Can Celebrity replicate this?

How did u get 250 shareholder? I thought it was 100

Frankly, the fact that Princess will reward my loyalty after 20 cruises with $25 OBC is insufficient to influence my choice of cruise lines.

It's $25 that you didn't have before that to spend. They don't have to give you anything. The fact that you may be one of 1000 or more people on the cruise means that the company is giving out $25,000 that they don't have to should mean something. And, yes, there are cruises where you have that many people with 21 cruises or more.

A friend and I are thinking of sharing a cabin and we are each used to getting $100 CC OBC as we have both completed over 50 cruises with Princess.

We are not married, not partners of any kind, not related in any way, we have different addresses in different states, do not have the same last name and have never cruised together sharing a cabin before.

He says he has read somewhere on Princess.com that the CC OBC is per household, not per cabin.

And we are not in any way one household.

Has anyone been in this situation and if so could you please post what was the result as far as CC Loyalty OBC was concerned?

You're right about the shareholder OBC of $250 for 14 plus days. I looked it up.

My Hawaii cruise should be even better with the drink package and military OBC and shareholder OBC and Platinum internet time. Might be able to get a few excursions out of the deal.

We travel with friends that get separate cabins. If you have gambled on Princess you may be eligible. I don't know if you've ever asked but it's worth a try. One of them traded in the drink package for the single supplement.

Thanks for the reply but its not actually answering my question, also we don't gamble, we don't want separate cabins and there is no drink package.

Other than that it was great!

Someone must know the answer to my question, which is if 2 totally un-related passengers each eligible for $100 captains Circle OBC travel in the same cabin do they both get the $100!

As it says on the Princess website $100 per household, and we are 2 totally different households, nearly 2000 miles apart in fact, we have never even visited each other's houses.

thanks again.

I would love to know the same but in a different respect. If we are in the same household but book in different rooms on the same cruise, do we still get the credit for each. Kind of a different question, actually....isn't it?

Also, does the obc hit on the 21st cruise or after your 21st cruise?

Can't answer your question but just FYI when the ex and I booked 2 separate cabins -each sharing with other family members - as we were both stockholders we DID both receive stockholder OBC. Which is why we booked it like that.

But Stockholder OBC is listed as per cabin NOT per household so we should have both got it.

Used to confuse poor Stewart (sic) who couldn't reconcile the actual occupants of the cabin with his list of who SHOULD have been sleeping there.

Its so much easier with Military OBC, we both get it sharing a cabin. And its refundable - i.e. you can go and cash it out at Passenger Services.

Not that we do so.

  • 1 month later...

If husband and wife, booked in two different cabins, each get shareholders credit if they only have 100 shares and are both listed as joint owners? Also,if they both have 22 cruises and are booked in different cabins will they both get loyalty credit?

Booking this way as we are taking grandchildren and need to have one adult in each cabin.

For what it's worth:

† The Loyalty Commend onboard credit is applied per household, rather than per person. As an example, a husband and wife traveling in one cabin who have both earned 25 cruise credits will receive one onboard credit of $25 to share.

My question is why does a gay couple receive 2 photo's at the MTP while a straight couple only receives one? Do they also get 2 loyalty credits as well?

I guess you forgot the free internet after 5 cruise, free laundry, elite mini-bar, free wine tasting, etc. for elite passengers?

And don't forget the past passenger rates! I graciously accept every little comp that is offered to me. And yes, the perks on Celebrity do fit our cruising style better but that's just me. Still happy when Princess gives us anything.

Thanks for the link. I think this does answer my question but now realize it might be a moot point as I realized my husband, who is booked in a cabin with my brother so my sister could book in a cabin with me (girls and boys cabins), has one cruise less than I do, so he will only be at 20 cruises where I will be at 21. But I forgot all about this perk even existing so am happier than a clam with the one loyalty award. Thanks again!

Free internet after 5? 5 what? 5 cruises? 5 O'clock?

Did I miss something new.

After 5th cruise you are Platinum level and get X number of free Internet minutes. The X is determined by the length (number of days) of the cruise.

Does not show in the Cruise Personalizer. It will show as a $25 in your on board account, and you will have a Captain's Circle gift card in your cabin announcing that you have received the OBC.

On Royal Princess last week I didn't get a notification card for the loyalty OBC, and was told by the CC Hostess they had gone paperless.

It also didn't show up for a couple of days on my account.

Just FYI on the 10 day Southern Caribbean last week the MTP Luncheon cut off level was around 525 days, and was anticipated to be even higher this week's cruise on Royal Princess.

The same thing happen to a friend on the same trip but mine appeared OK although I didn't get a card either.

BTW- The cutoff was around 580 or so. It's climbing faster as we approach the holidays.
