trishnmike Posted November 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2015 We are taking a cruise to those locations at the end of January. Does anyone know about what the temperature should be? I'm wondering if I should schedule a beach excursion. Or is the water going to be too cold to go in?

The water will be chilly, the Bahamas are not far enough south but, the air temps should be in the 80's. Rare Keith1010 Posted November 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Unfortunately you can't be certain. It could be 70's/80's but once in awhile it gets very cold and that might be 50's. I've been there when it happened. Best to check weather a few days before the cruise. Keith
Rare Hlitner Posted November 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Winter weather in the Bahamas is similar to southern Florida so it varies from warm (low 80s) to chilly. As to the sea temps it is normally in the low to mid 70s that time of year which is fine for many folks. Hank
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Which means as I said earlier it could be warm or even cold. I have been there when it's been just that. 2010 it was cold and I mean cold in January. Keith
trishnmike Posted November 8, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks Keith and Hlitner .... Well the husband will be glad since he hates sand in his toes. I'm going to have too find other things to do. Thinking about the rum tour in Florida.
Capt_BJ Posted November 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2015 what will be the weather in your backyard on these dates?
Rare Hlitner Posted November 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks Keith and Hlitner .... Well the husband will be glad since he hates sand in his toes. I'm going to have too find other things to do. Thinking about the rum tour in Florida. Not so fast. I have been snorkeling in the Bahamas in Jan-Feb and it was near perfect. So you will just have to wait and see the weather trends right before your trip. Sand between the toes is still possible :). trishnmike Posted November 8, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Our average in New Orleans during the day it's 60 - 65.... But not sure since we are just starting to get a little cool. It's 64 right now.
trishnmike Posted November 8, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks Hank. I could live on the beach and one of the things I love about cruising. I'm going to wait like y'all said. And bring my snorkel gear just in case. You never know I may not mind a little cool water.

Rare Keith1010 Posted November 9, 2015 #14 Share Posted November 9, 2015 The key is no one knows what the weather will be like. So best just to check a few days before to get an idea and then see what happens on the cruise. Weather is weather which is to say it is unpredictable. navybankerteacher Posted December 4, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 4, 2015 Nassau can get as low as high forties in January/February - it is just like South Florida; of course, you could hit an 80 degree day - you simply have to play it by ear. The seawater temperature should be close to, or slightly above
OCruisers Posted December 4, 2015 #18 Share Posted December 4, 2015 As others have said, the water temperature is likely to be quite chilly.
cb at sea Posted December 4, 2015 #19 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I don't know about you, but I only feel a need to get in the water if I'm hot....you should be fine sunning, without getting wet!
donaldsc Posted December 5, 2015 #20 Share Posted December 5, 2015 I suggest that you try typing "January weather in Nassau" into Google. Lots and lots of hits. DON
