MichaelCMTX Posted November 17, 2015 #51 Share Posted November 17, 2015 Rest assured, had this promo been on our trip 2 weeks ago we'd have both splurged for the Premium Package. DW went for it simply because her wine and cocktail of choice weren't on the CL/DL/voucher menu. Mine is and the happily-tipped bartenders were fine letting her voucher me, and I take it easier during the day. 2 packages @ 30% off as opposed to 1 at full price? I'm sure RCL would still have made great money on that deal.
MADflyer Posted November 17, 2015 Author #52 Share Posted November 17, 2015 In fairness, all those people packed in the designated Diamond space could have been elsewhere. They all had three drink vouchers loaded on their sea pass cards, so they could have used them at a bar out on deck to enjoy the sail away from Bayonne...or any other night. If three were not enough, they could have gone to the designated lounge after their three were used to have more drinks. for what it is worth the D+ area was also packed last cruise. Worse this cruise with both D and D+ packed into catacomb deck three...SRO and no view. We are elsewhere, happy to have a view and vouchers. Yes, not having the D lounge up on deck 14 really made for a downgraded experience on the last cruise. I guess the only benefit of the Catacombs would being able to 'overflow' out into the Casino and Schooner Bar. Yes, they certainly could have moved about the ship, but on that sailing they most definitely did not. I think the D+ and above must have had a much more enjoyable experience at any rate. Enjoy the rest of the 9 day sailing.

Deck 4 doors to catacomb are closed,so one must use deck 3 door. Coming back for drink would be rather arduous...card check and lines...just as Sphinx would have been last cruise. ( Ok, arduous is the wrong word for a cruise vacation) D+ had better digs last cruise....seemed reasonable to me....and would you now have it any other way? Same digs this week, though. I admit the bar staff who now know use do not count our drinks, though we do not generally need more than three each.
tinkr2 Posted November 18, 2015 #54 Share Posted November 18, 2015 So I just turning diamond, is the 3 drinks per night or for the entire cruise? And I can go to any bar? Why would I stay in the lounge? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why would I stay in the lounge? Three drinks every night for the entire cruise, usually any bar, but some ships have excluded the Champagne Bar. Why would I stay in the lounge? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 per diamond member each evening (same hours as D lounge) to be used at almost any bar (not restaurants). Many still stay in lounge. Why? I'm not sure for some, but many have their reasons. Some like to meet fellow loyalty members. Some like more than 3/evening. Some like more generous pours. Some like the snacks. Personally, I appreciate the options, and I hope you will too. Go wherever you are happiest. We have fond memories of our first cruises as diamonds and wish you the same. Enjoy your new benefits.
ARCruisinNana Posted November 18, 2015 #57 Share Posted November 18, 2015 I currently on Liberty. There is no special deal or discounts on the beverage packages. That was a one time deal, probably due to the very high numbers of D, D+ and PC onboard the 12 night repo cruise.

Starry Eyes Posted November 18, 2015 #59 Share Posted November 18, 2015 The cruise director mentioned the "new punch card" on his morning show, so it appears that promo will be offered at the end of this nine night cruise. I hope that bodes well for people interested in punch card in future. (Btw, we have an itinerary change with day at sea (rather than Roatan) today as we had to divert last night for a medical emergency. Please say a prayer for the patient and family involved.) As one can still purchase the drink packages up to 4 days prior to the end of the cruise, these will be available for the final 3 days. It would be interesting to see if they are selling these outside the Windjammer already tonight on the current sailing or not until tomorrow? I actually do not think the C&A discounts were that successful, but the 10 drink vouchers sure were.
ARCruisinNana Posted November 18, 2015 #61 Share Posted November 18, 2015 I'm on LB and this special deal just became available. I don't know whether it's because we have an unanticipated sea day, or it's because we are on day 6 of a 9 night cruise, or another reason, but I like it😄. I asked if it was going to be offered next week and he didn't know. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

MrsPete Posted November 19, 2015 #64 Share Posted November 19, 2015 At that point, Liberty offered a new $67, 10 drink coupon voucher that was available for sale up until the final day of the sailing. These 10 drink vouchers could be used in any bar for any beverage up to a $14 value. Yippee! This is the very thing I've wanted to see!
11madmic Posted November 19, 2015 #65 Share Posted November 19, 2015 This would be a very pleasant surprise on my upcoming cruise! Dont drink nearly enough to justify a drink package and hate the fact of getting gouged at 12-14$ a drink..
MADflyer Posted November 19, 2015 Author #66 Share Posted November 19, 2015 This would be a very pleasant surprise on my upcoming cruise! Dont drink nearly enough to justify a drink package and hate the fact of getting gouged at 12-14$ a drink.. Liberty was not $12 to $14 for standard drinks that I had noted on these boards on the repo cruise. Wine was from $8 to $14 by the glass for most options. Daily drink specials ranged from $6.50 to $8.50, with no discount for opting out of souvenir glass. Mixed drinks ranged from $8 to $12. I took all my premium drinks in the Casino on their dime, but they were 12.40 for Grey Goose mixed. The drink menus have no pricing so that pricing can vary from cruise to cruise. Now if they will just start with the vouchers earlier and not just the last 3 days.
jeaa112 Posted November 19, 2015 #67 Share Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) I was on Adventure in October and bought a card for $75 for 10 drinks and it included gratuity. Edited November 19, 2015 by jeaa112

And from ship to ship it would seem! I was on Adventure in October and bought a card for $75 for 10 drinks and it included gratuity. I would go for one of these. What were the limitations of the card? e.g. premium cocktails up to x value premium wines up to x value Edited November 19, 2015 by icsys

MaddyandMax Posted November 24, 2015 #70 Share Posted November 24, 2015 We were on that recent 12 night cruise. As mentioned, the C&A discount on high level drink packages was heavily promoted on that cruise. Signs everywhere, it seemed. We still decided against it; we just do not consume enough outside of DL/CL cocktail hours to justify it.We stayed on for a B2B, so we are currently on the 9 night sailing. I have not seen any ads for C&A discounts for drink packages on this 9 night sailing. So far, I have not seen ads for the punch card either, though there is still time for that promo. On the 9 night cruise, there are still many loyalty members aboard, though not as many as on the 12 nighter. I will not be surprised if discount offer on certain beverage packages on the 12 nighter was a one-time trial (an attempt to sell packages when few might otherwise be sold and also to see how many C &A members might actually buy them). I currently on Liberty. There is no special deal or discounts on the beverage packages. That was a one time deal, probably due to the very high numbers of D, D+ and PC onboard the 12 night repo cruise. We were on the 10 night cruise on Liberty before the repo (October 22). There was no discount on drink packages. The punch cards were available the last 2 days of the cruise (maybe 3 days). It was $67 for 10 drinks. They had tables set up EVERYWHERE. They were really pushing the vouchers. Maybe a lot of people didn't buy the drink package on our cruise. I like frozen drinks and they were $12.80-$14 with gratity. The most expensive drink I ordered was a coconut run mojioto and it was $14 something.

I wish they would have more so that we could get 'ideas' for drinks that might be appealing.

Starry Eyes Posted November 25, 2015 #74 Share Posted November 25, 2015 I would love to have the punch cards available fleet wide , seams like a fantastic idea We would have bought one of the cards on each of my b2b cruises if the cards had been offered at the beginning of the cruise. But, by the last three days of a long cruise, we were ready to ramp down our alcohol consumption, not ramp it up.
pete98 Posted November 25, 2015 #75 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Boarding Liberty on Sunday. Would absolutely love a 10 drink package. We don't drink enough to bother with the beverage packages, but do enjoy a cocktail during the show and wine with dinner.
