What's worse is that Majesty is not only smaller in size, but carries about the same number of guests as Enchantment. I'm going to miss the huge pool deck.

Totally agree! Also like having the CL and DL right next each other. If one is busy, you can use the other one. No DL or CL on Majesty...and also agree the little ship is much more condensed. Sardines for sure.

Like the CL and DL across the hall from each other on Legend also. :)

We were on the Legend Hong Kong to Brisbane last week. I had read previous reviews that weren't very flattering but we always go and form our own opinions as everyone see things through different eyes. Have to say it wasn't our best experience. We would never sail on her again.

I have just submitted my review on the Australian/ New Zealand forum if you wish to read it.

WOW, could she have changed that much in just 6 months...we loved her.

Different strokes for different folks. But I like your initial statement about forming our own opinions. The OP should go and see for his/herself.:D

We did not experience ANY of the issues mentioned by Immy

If you are flying in for the cruise why not just fly to Miami instead of Port Canaveral? Then you get the benefit of visiting Key West too on a ship you prefer.

Of all the Vision class ships, I like best where they put the CL/DL on Legend. We usually book a JS, and there's no elevator needed for the lounges if you have a suite on Legend.

Yep, they told us she and Splendour were the fastest ships in the fleet.

LOL -- I remember the Splendour captain telling us the same thing on our 1st cruise in 2007. FWIW We enjoyed our cruise on Splendour enough [and Splendour and Legend are virtual twins] that we've kept going. Great ships.

Yes, the CL was just one flight of stairs up from our JS cabin...nice! ;) :p

What do you mean when you write "long in the tooth"?

I think it's an old saying referring to horses. Their gums recede with age making their teeth look longer. That's why you see horse traders looking at the horse's teeth. Trying to guess the age of the horse.

We were also on the Legend and found it to be just okay. I have to say the staff were wonderful as usual just as they are on many other ships. From the cabin staff to the general cleaners to the pool/towel staff to the dining room, all performed well. I did feel that there needed to be more staff around to generally tidy up.

Embarkation was easy in Hong Kong as was disembarkation in Brisbane but that was because Customs had got on in Bali and we were processed before we arrived in Darwin.

The coffee was just dreadful. The worst I have ever tasted-even the Americans on board thought it was awful. So much so that there was a mass purchase of instant coffee in ports. If Carnival and P&O UK can have good coffee machines for everyone, so can RCCL.

The food in the Windjammer was always tepid at best. Not sure if they would reach Australian food conditions. They did have the best selection of gluten free foods that I have ever seen on any ship. We also had MTD and as soon as we got on the ship we asked for a table at 6pm and we had no trouble from then on as it was always ready.

The solarium was just lovely and for anyone sho has problems getting into a pool, this is the ship for you. Marble stairs to get into the water made it so easy. The food here at the Park Cafe was always good too. Just simple salads, soup, or hot roast beef rolls that were made for you on the spot.

The entertainment was good except for the occasional guest artist but that can be the same on any ship and sometimes it's a personal choice eg I'm not fond of jugglers even though they are very clever.

We were told by friends that RCCL was the "Ants Pants" of cruise lines. We cruise at least twice a year and go with what line is going where we want to go. We were a bit disappointed any many on board told us "don't judge RCCL by this ship" which we found to be a bit disconcerting. We had no rough seas or bad weather so the ship even though older, performed well. I did like the idea of special rooms for their long standing customers and Princess could take a note of this.

Still, all in all we had a good holiday and it's what you make of it. We will give RCCL another go should one come up where we want to go and as always you must experience these things for yourself and not rely on other people's opinions but do take your own coffee!

We have sailed with Princess, Celebrity, Carnival, P&O UK, P&O Australia, Southern Cross and Cunard.

I will be aboard the Legend of the Seas Oct 2016, the rate is exceptional to the point of my wondering if something is wrong. I noticed soon after this sailing there are no others for almost a month. Can anyone suggest possibilities. Has anyone cruise on board and found her to be showing ware? Thanks for you opinions.

I was on this ship spring 2014; so not quite two years ago, and it was after the refurbishment.

There's nothing "wrong" per se with the ship, it is just an older, smaller ship and as such doesn't offer a lot of different amenities or entertainment at night. On our 10 day cruise it seemed like often your nighttime choices after 10PM were Schooner Bar, Casino, or the ridiculously small disco in the Viking Crown Lounge. If you were hungry after dinner they served some pizza at the Park Cafe Late, but not really any other options.

If you like ships that are easy to get around and enjoy a classic cruise experience without a lot of frills, you will be fine. If you like lots of entertainment, food options, and places to be, this may not be the best choice.

I was on The Legend in October 2015. I loved the cruise from Singapore to Kong Kong, she is a smaller ship which I like better than the bigger ones where you tend to get lost in the crowd, yes she is getting on a bit but the crew were fantastic, I loved the German lunch we had on the pool deck. Would definately cruise on her again.:D:D

Hello, we have just returned and had a great family holiday. Discussing it with my husband and son we voted it our favourite holiday so far! Will probably post a review tomorrow. Like you I was getting extremely concerned about the VERY NEGATIVE reviews here. But we had a wonderful time and made the most of it. We are not experienced cruisers (last one was 8 years ago for 3 days) so could not compare it to anything. That is where I think a lot of reviews have focused on - comparing it to past experiences. So if this was considered 'not a good cruise' but a lot of people then we can only look forward to an even better experience in future cruises. My husband and son both said they would do it again without hesitation.!

We did back to back cruises and it was disgusting , RCCL have dropped their prices and are attracting the P&O crowd, we have done 30 cruises and cannot believe the Ferals that were on board, swearing in lifts, coming into gym bare foot with stubbie of beer in hand sitting on gym equipment, the dress code for Main Dining room is not being adhered to, people were going in in thongs and shorts, even on Formal night tee shirts were being allowed in. Food was terrible, we did this cruise back from Hong Kong and the food was good. kids running around all hours, come on RCCL lift you game or you are going to lose a lot of you loyal customers

hi

I also sailed on that cruise and it was good, food , everything, it was just the last 2 cruises out of Brisbane were seriously disgusting , if it wasn't for the concierge club it would have been terrible at least we could escape in there.

I sailed on Legend about a year ago on her last trip through the Panama Canal. The ship is in very good shape for her age and the crew did a great job. Although, for many of the crew, that was the end of their contract on Legend as she was headed for Hawaii and then Asia. It was pretty clear that the crew was gearing up to make significant changes and I bet the next set of passengers saw plenty of that. But that's what you get on a reposition cruise and why they are often discounted.

Repo cruises are discounted due to the longer time that less people can afford to take, and the associated costs with travel and return at different ports. Often the timeframes do not work for the majority of cruisers, but the cruise line needs to move a ship to where it can generate revenue and wants as many paying guests onboard. I have done repo cruises, and gotten good pricing per day, but I have NEVER, EVER been told to expect a lower or different level of service.

I just cruised on Legend, and I was a bit concerned before boarding after reading all the negative reviews..

I have to say though, I LOVED Legend. She was cosy and intimate, the staff were excellent - the cruise director's team were amazing. I've sailed on Mariner, which had plenty more bells and whistles, but I loved the vibe Legend has. I've booked to sail on her again.

She was well maintained, they were repainting at one of the ports of call, and I always saw staff cleaning windows and clearing up water around the pool area (which is certainly more than I can say for P&O!). Legend is a lovely little ship - small for RCCL, but is comparative to ships like Pacific Jewel.
