Like you, I would have accepted the offer in a heartbeat - especially since you got such a great deal on your mini.

I've always wanted to experience a suite but the regular fares have always been way above our budget.

I'm totally jealous. :D Take advantage of every perk and be sure to report back!

My TA just called to let us know we got an upsell offer from a mini-suite to a penthouse for $399 per person. I jumped on it and selected the aft location. I've been watching cruise fares for our itinerary and they've gone way up, and what we originally paid for our mini was several hundred less than balconies and even insides were going for at one time. So we're basically getting a full suite for not much more than the current balcony price. So excited!! We've never had a full suite before so I'm looking forward to enjoying the experience.

I don't really have a question here....just wanted to share my excitement with people who know what I'm talking about, LOL. Sometimes I say things about cruising to my co-workers, but they just don't get it:)

Any great hints or tips from those with suite experience? I think the 2 things I'm most looking forward to are Sabatini's breakfast and the extended room service menu.

I feel your joy and would do the same thing in a heartbeat!

We booked M102 ( forward facing balcony with large obstructed view) on a cruise this past November for 10 days.......very happy with cabin and received an incredible casino rate with free gratuities..... month before cruise received up sale offer to Mini suite.............turned it down due to price and only perk would have been tub and bigger sofa , but much smaller balcony..........watched cruise pricing and 10 days before cruise M108/ M107 opened up..........called Princess and received up sale to M108......to me it was an amazing up sale and the room was incredible with bigger than life balcony.......we ended up paying less than regular balcony price to get this awesome room....

Life is short ......eat dessert first

Enjoy with all the perks

Congratulations! I am sure you will love the suite life. Regarding the double cruise credits, just sent an email to this address when you return and ask them to add the extra cruise credit: captainscircle@princesscruises.com . Provide your Captain's Circle number, the ship, and the date of the cruise and they should be able to help you. We took advantage of two upsell offers this year and an email to Captain's Circle quickly got us the double suite credits. Enjoy!

Regarding the 2 cruise credits - Both our TA and I contacted Princess several times but were not able to convince them to apply them to our account; only got the one.

Hope you have a great time!

I've heard that from someone else, too. It's actually the Captain's Circle that grants the extra credit so it pays to talk directly with them. In the future it may help to talk to the Captain's Circle Host while on a cruise. The woman I talked to specifically told me they give the extra credit for upsells but not upgrades.

Edited to say I didn't see azbirdmom's post before saying this. She gave excellent advice.

You are going to love it! It truly will make you not want to go back. We were upgraded on our very first cruise to a full suite and now, with the exception of two transatlantics in minis, we've always booked full suites. We love the aft and always book a vista suite. You will love the extra large cabin, the split sided bathroom and the whole experience in general.

Congrats and enjoy!

Thank you all for the well-wishes! We are so excited and can't wait to experience all the suite perks. We've had an aft before, one of the (now) premium balconies, C752, so we know how great the aft area is, but now with the suite it will be that much better. We had the choice of mid-ship Riviera or aft, and I wanted the nice big aft balcony, not the long skinny balcony. Also I know how quiet it is in the aft area, and thought the mid-ship would be noisier being close to Lido activities.

I was also surprised to receive the offer 47 days out. I will post a review when we get back!

You chose wisely. We had one of the Riviera deck suites on an upsell offer. We knew the balcony would narrow but for $299/person for an 11 day Baltic cruise we took the offer. It was a great location for scenic viewing of the Stockholm Archipelago, the Oslo Fjord and the departure from St. Petersburg but little else. There is only room for a small table and two chairs and the lounge chairs could only be placed sideways and could not point directly out to the ocean. The only port and starboard suites I would book are on the older Grand class ships without a Riviera deck where they are on Caribe deck with almost twice as large balconies.

Those Dolphin deck aft Vista Suites are heavenly with the large fully covered balcony, a dining table with four chairs and great views to the side or of the wake from the two lounge chairs.

I don't know if you booked an Aloha or Caribe deck Penthouse Suite but they should be just as nice. Enjoy your wise selection!

We are on Caribe in a Penthouse Suite. Thanks for reinforcing my decision -- it's good to hear from someone who can compare from experience.

  • 2 months later...

Well we took the upsell for the owners suite on the Regal in May. This is 11 days and was just under 400.00 pp. We were in a forward mini until this was offered in mid March after final payment. Was offered Marina or Baja and took Baja so we have cabins over and under us. Never planned to take a suite on Princess just never seemed worth the high price difference, but you never know because we are paying less than the mini mid ship is going for this weekend for this cruise.

We are platinum also and have a ways to go for the elite perks. Also looking forward to breakfast and maybe diner in our cabin. True the balcony is huge but don't think we will get much use out of it this trip.

So good for you and hope you enjoyed this cabin (if already done) if not yet have a great trip.

Can you clarify if the double cruise credit is only available when taking advantage of an upsell offer to a suite? Thank you.

No, it is also available if you book a suite and the double credit would be applied automatically. You will probably have to ask to have it applied for an upsell. You won't get it if you are one of the fortunate few who get a no-cost upgrade.

We just got an upsell offer this week for our 4 day cruise on the Coral next month. It was $299 to move from our mini suite to a full suite and for the first time we declined. I did call and left a message for yield management telling them that if the price drops we would be interested but that the extra cost would not be worth it for the reduced benefits (only 2 sea days to enjoy it, no first night specialty cover charge comp, only 2 days to do Sabatini's breakfast, etc.). To my surprise they called back to see if I had changed my mind but I had not.
