On Board Riviera March 13-20

Hello, just a quick note to let those interested in knowing that there is no signs or evidence of Noro virus on board Riviera since our arrival on March 13th. No signs of sticky antiseptic dripping down walls , nor have I seen any foggers or hazmat suits either. Table settings are in place. Staff appears happy. Service has been excellent. No announcements or paperwork in cabins regarding Noro virus so I am assuming all is well. I will do a review when I return but suffice to say this has been a lovely vacation to date. The ship is beautiful and the staff is friendly and efficient. One big surprise to us is the demographics on this ship. I have seen several teens and youngsters and many under the age of 40 guests. So I think the secret is out and Oceania is attracting younger guests now.

Glad things are going well

Could be more younger people because of spring break & a shorter cruise than normal for most Oceania sailings

enjoy

Lyn

Yep, you are on a Spring break cruise. Most with kids would go on a ship that has more to offer for the kids. Our across the street neighbors have taken a 6night cruise and discovered that a college spring break group is onboard.

Hi!

Thanks for the updates. Can't wait to board on Sun.

Who is the social hostess on board? I know Dottie is the CD.

Keep having fun!

Rhea

There is a social hostess on Oceania? Never heard of one being on our cruise last month.

We went up to lounge two nights on our cruise. The first night, there were only two members of the band playing. One singing, and one playing an instrument. Can't remember which. The rest of the equipment was without a player. We figured they must have been sick. The next time, the full band was playing and they were good. :)

We are on the Riviera right now, having a wonderful time. Everything is perfect. No sign of any illness. My DH did see the tape on one stateroom door but by the next day it was gone.

I was looking through Currents and saw that we do have a Social Hostess...her name is Barbara.

We are back in our favorite Oceania Suite and have an excellent butler Binoy...someone else here mentioned they also have him on this cruise. We were able to book another cruise for next year in this same suite. Nice to know that we have another Oceania cruise to look forward to!

Thanks for your help .I have an outside hope of having the Ukrainian guys we had last time . They called themselves "The Most Populars Band" .As if the translation was a little off . It would be a kick if they remembered me . :D

Thanks for the update. We will see for ourselves tomorrow when we board. :) Even though it is spring break time, I would expect that there won't be many youngsters on a two week cruise.

Interesting , I don't have a lot of experience on O . Been on maybe 8 or 9 cruises , two on Riviera .There were some unexpected difficulties with kids on board Princess and Carnival. From what I know about O .It's an older crowd .Someone recently said the patrons on their recent cruise did have a range of ages , which would make it a little more interesting . Do let us hear about it , if you have net access and can take the time .O doesn't have any kid's zone from what I recall .The pool is usually a minor problem with youngsters if there are any .And the running , howling in the hallways . But it's like that on many ships. Still , not like some of the nights we've had in hotels in the past . Have yourself a blast .:eek::eek::eek::eek:

There have been very few kids on our O cruises and those were cute little ones. I will post about conditions.

Very few children on Oceania cruises

A 7 day O cruise will have more younger demographics than a 10+ day cruise

exceptions are the Christmas Holiday cruises & the Alaska one where they do have a children's program & I doubt you would have hoards of them

but there are some people that consider 2 too many

Summer holidays you may find a few also but usually the ones we have encountered are well behaved

Unlikely you will find the 500+ like on the main stream lines during Spring break

Just got off this cruise and in the airport waiting for my flight home. Great cruise. No sign of noro. No sign of any enhanced precautions. Crew cheery and helpful. No wet chairs or gooey cleaners. Salt and pepper out the whole cruise. All compliments and no complaints.

Best to you lucky dogs boarding now! Have a great time.

We were on the Mar 3-13 sailing. Social hostess was Barbara. She was very friendly but I did not interact with her (needlepoint to early for me). CD Dottie, first time sailing with her and we really liked her. Crew was wonderful. I never had a problem getting a drink at the pool but I did note there were not many servers. We did have some "Noro" precautions but that went away eventually. Unfortunately we have had an unexpected stay in FLL. After disembarking Dh went into Atrial Fib, admitted to hospital and is still there with hopes of being discharged tomorrow. I was admitted to same hospital on Weds for Acute bronchitis with lung lung issues. Dh needs door to door escort back to NH. We hope to leave by Thurs. my point is YOU MUST PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE
