Carnival Vista: What Do YOU Want To Know?

We were on the maiden voyage and the lines for the sky rider were only a little long on the first sea day and then it only took about 30-45 min to get to ride but well worth it. The views are awesome. You have to wear closed toe shoes and they have lockers that lock you can use. There are 4 bikes and they take about 3-5 min to go around the track or faster if you hurry, I'm 60 and not an athlete, hehe. You will love it.

What was the wait time when it wasnt so busy? Was it open in the evenings?

I'd like to have a go, but will stay at the pool or bar if its a long queue

I've read one of the first reviews for the Vista and it stated there is an ATM on board that gives Euros. Can someone confirm this information?

Confirmed.... Euros became available maybe on Day 2 or 3 on the inaugural cruise. I can attest to this as I did a withdrawal I think on day 5. But on Day 1, I was in line at Guest Services and witness this guy exploding with yelling at an agent that "they were gonna get him some Euros as we were promised they'd be available at the ATM on the ship!!"

When it was my turn at the counter, I asked the Euros and she said that the ATM is giving US dollars which seemed odd to me since there was no place to do a currency exchange on the ship.

But it was by chance that I was walking by guest service again and notice on the monitor something about getting Euros on the ship. I inquired and was told that the ATM is now giving Euros. At this point I informed others in my group that failed to convert money prior to boarding the ship or while in port. Lines at some currency exchanges were too long and/or the exchange rates were a total ripoff!!

Although the Vista is a very attractive ship, I sadly must report that it is the worst for cigarette smoke of any ship I've ever sailed. Smoking is permitted in the casino (deck 4) which opens into an atrium decks 3-5. I have a deck 6 forward cabin and can smell smoke every night. It permeates the entire ship like no other.

This wasn't my experience as well. Even though I was on deck 7 mid-ship, I never smelt cigarette smoke in the hallways while visiting friends that had rooms closer to the casino. I even walked through the casino and commented that it wasn't "that smoky" as I was expecting!

I recall reading something about the ventilation system installed on Vista was actually circulating the air in the casino and surrounding areas 4x more than one any other ship in the fleet thus far!

Kudos to Vista designers!!

I am starting to hear conflicting information about the music and whether or not you can hear it in your cabin.

LoutheGlue was kind enough to post that they were in 5214 which shares a wall with the Havana Bar. We will be in 5233 which is across from the Havana bar but there appears to be a hallway and a wall as a buffer. John Heald also mentioned that the cabins on the Vista do not have the little vents in the doors which also helps with noise.

So far no one has posted about these cabins. I posted on John Heald's FB page to ask. Someone posted that they had a friend who just returned and were in 5212 and said the music was loud 24x7. I don't necessarily believe that but I am curious.

Thanks for any inside info.

I'd love for you to somehow take a picture of the Havana Premium (6464 or 6459). Trying to get a general size of that balcony compared to the regular Havana Balcony's, Aft Havana, and Aft Havana wrap.

Thanks and enjoy your trip.

We are in 6464 for the October 11, 2016 sailing- I could take inside cabin photos for you!

There's a forum on here for roll calls. I'm sure there's one for your July sailing.

You can look for it here:

I would really really appreciate it if someone would post a few of the Funtimes here. Doesn't have to be all of them, one or two?

Just so we can get a look at them.

Any ship layout photos are appreciated as well! :D

thanks!

Can anyone tell me the name of the dance club with DJ on the Vista? Also, is the club set up like all other Carnival cruise ships. I have several in my group that loves to dance. Thanks in advance.

It's different than other ships. It's called the Liquid Lounge and also doubles as the main showroom. If you have been on the Sunshine, it is set up like that. Many people do not like how the main showroom is set up.

The main showrooms lack in terms of great entertainment. One area Carnival struggles in (in my opinion) is packing their main room and keeping the audience full.

I remember I was proposing to my now wife, and had it set up for us to be pulled on stage. It was during one of their normal singing shows, she was sitting next to me asking to leave almost the entire time. Of course I couldn't allow us to leave as I am about to propose once the CD pulls us on stage. But the point being is that I think the entertainment is lacking

I am not surprised to see them moving away from a large theater room, and then combining it with the night club. Saves space, and saves them money by probably cutting expenses for larger shows.

Cruising is evolving and not just on Carnival. I think you will continue to see more changes (some in this area) in new ships from all cruise lines. All this said, I think the entertainment on the Vista is the best I have ever experienced.

Zydocruiser has some shots of the thermal suite, not suites apparently. Looks dissapointing.

I too would be interested in opinions and pics of the spa.

The spa was a bit of a let down. We booked a spa cabin after falling in love with them on the sunshine. The heated tile beds were right next to the whirlpool which was very loud and scummy. The only room that had an ocean view was the dry heat room which was 120degrees and very dry. It was nice BUT to get out you had to grab a metal handle and pull on the door that seemed to weigh 100x more than it looked like. It was very very shocking the first time i grabbed it. I almost thought i was locked in. The other too heated rooms were nice but the only difference i noticed was the aromatherapy. The ultra violet room was very uncomfortable to sit in and you couldnt lean back against anything so to us it wasnt relaxing. If i had never been in a carnival spa i would have found it to be fine but since i had a comparison it was less than desirable. Luckily we paid almost nothing over a non spa cabin because of a price reduction.

Hi. Happy sailings! Have a great trip! Ill be in a Havana Cabana Suite number 5321 and would love to know if they keep the walkway in front of the cabanas locked 24/7 for only Havana guests. Please let us know if you hear noise from the bar and if the outside bartenders were there all day/night.

If you workout can you please let me know if there are rowing machines in the gym. I didnt see them in any pictures although they had them on the Breeze in February.

Thanks so much and have fun!

Hey js...Did you ever get an answer on the rowing machines?

There appears to be 2 in the background on one of the 360 pictures here.

http://www.cruisecritic.com/photos/ships/carnival-vista-982/fitness-center-298774/

Can't tell the model/type though. Not a Concept 2 D,E, or Dyno. Fly wheel is low and chain appears to go under then up and back. Monitor arm is higher and looks like there's some orange parts.

Ah Ha...might be a First Degree Fluid Rower! Gonna have to google that because my work won't let me access the site. No idea on what these are like. Looking for reviews. Hopefully someone can post better pictures and give more detail.

Just off Carnival Vista. There were definitely rowing machines, but can't remember how many. About 20 treadmills and maybe 10 X trainers and bikes. Plenty of free weights, also a stretching area in front of treadmills I didn't notice until last day. Never saw a water machine in there so worth taking a bottle of water. Towels are provided as you go in.

The outdoor running track wasn't really used much from what I could see.

Yes, there are two rowing machines. I didn't use them, but they were the type filled with water, if that helps.

The machines were all brand new, unsurprisingly, and are equipped with IPOD and USB ports. The TV channels never worked, though.

Wondering if any recent Vista cruisers can provide any details on how long it took to get thru customs when landing in BCN? Past years it was pretty quick but I am hearing mixed reports now (and I know at least 2 large international flights landing when I get there....) thx :)
