Rare Essiesmom Posted May 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I think you will get faster opinions if you ask this on the Royal Caribbean board. EM
CruiserBruce Posted May 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I agree on asking on the RCI board, located here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=83 Food is totally subjective. What I think is great may not interest you at all. That being said, there are a huge number of eateries on Oasis. I seriously doubt you are going to starve on your cruise. cb at sea Posted May 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2016 You will not starve by ANY means, but don't expect 4 Star meals. Nowadays, it's more along the line of Chilis or Applebees, or chains like that. You can do some specialty (for fee) venues and get a "step up" in cuisine. taglovestocruise Posted May 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2016 Skip the Windjammer for embarkation day lunch, head to deck 8 Central Park Café for a great lunch. plenty of seating inside or take your tray across the way to eat outside of Giovanni's or Vintages . The specialty restaurants are very good. Make sure you book all your shows well before your trip and always get there 15 minutes early.. On the Oasis class ships Johnny Rockets has a no charge breakfast every day before 10:30, happy cruising
SuiteTraveler Posted May 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2016 (edited) I second the recommendation for Central Park Cafe on embarkation day. Love those roast beef sandwiches and great salads and soups. We've never actually gotten to the MDR on Oasis or Allure. We tend to eat in the specialty restaurants every night. I love Izumi for sushi (if it is slow they will make anything you want!) and also Giovanni's table, Sabor is good, 150 Central Park is probably my favorite for a romantic dinner. I'm not a fan of RCCL's Windjammer - but I do like the sandwiches down at Cafe Promenade. I'm not a hamburger or pizza fan so have not tried those food items on RCCL. If they are still holding the Chef's table, it is well worth the extra expense. To get a reservation, you have to call RCCL on the phone before your cruise. Make both your show and specialty dining reservations in advance. The shows are great! Don't miss riding on the Rising Tide Bar - it is really fun! GUT2407 Posted May 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2016 To be honest food is too subjective for anyone to really say. However I always manage to find something I like. Don't expect gourmet, they're feeding a few thousand people, expect the quality you'd get at a nice wedding.
Rala Posted May 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 21, 2016 To be honest food is too subjective for anyone to really say. However I always manage to find something I like. Don't expect gourmet, they're feeding a few thousand people, expect the quality you'd get at a nice wedding. Good analogy. Lots of very good fresh produce so you can make a delicious salad in the Windjammer buffet. I also think the pasta and sauces offered( bolognese, alfredo, pomodoro) and almost all the bread and rolls are very good. I am sure you will find things that you like. Hope you really enjoy your first cruise...just beware, it can be addicting!!!:D;)

While food is subjective, I certainly think that is a bit of an under exaggeration. And the specialty restaurants are very good and a bit more than a "step up".
