Allure Star Class - first and maybe continuing impressions 5/29

Recommended Posts

Children are permitted in CK at all meals.

we will be there with our 7 yr old niece during our trip. I think the menus look great and full breakfast right down the hall from our room (CLS) sounds wonderful :)

They are, but it didn't appeal to them😉. They were 7 and 8 and wanted hot dogs and fries from WJ!

Your CK waiter would have gone to WJ and brought the kids their hot dogs and fries. :)

When we were on Quantum Dec. 2014 we had our 8yo daughter and 4yo son and the waiter there brought them, and us, anything we wanted -- even if it meant going to WJ or another restaurant. In retrospect we're not sure why we went anywhere else if/when CK was open (other than Grande so the girls could get all dolled up!).

And since it's causing such a controversy - here is the sign on the stand up flow rider. By the way we overlook that Flowrider and not one person stood in that line today.

Good morning. After losing a little money in the casino, it was off to bed since the CC Meet n Mingle was at 9:30. UGH!

A few notes on peculiarities of the Sky Loft. There are almost no individual lights. There are all the ceiling light. Lights over the master bed. Bathroom lights and a couple of accent lights. So, in practical terms it's like all on or all off. I wish there were just lights down under the bedroom and by the dining area. Since my cabin mate and I keep different hours.

Andrew - if you know a secret switch let me know ! :)

The pull out sofa is surprisingly comfortable. It's not really a pull out. The back folds down and the front pulls forward. Full queen size. They put a pad over that and then the sheets etc. you sleep feet towards the balcony.

For sure bring clips to keep curtains closed tight.

Meet n Mingle was well run and not so bad that early. I won a back pack. Woo hoo.

Another random observation - be patient with the elevators. It's just how it is. Especially trying to get to and from Deck 17. Allow at least 5-10 mins unless you love stairs. :)

Top tier event was at 10:15. Actually a nicely done event with a performance by Ocean Aria cast and the hand balancers

The LA said there are more than 700 platinums in the program - not on board. I think that's low.

The count on board:

249 D

122 D+

13 Pinnacle

Top 3 cruisers got recognition, pictures and champagne.

Pretty much any of the non alcoholic beverage products on board including things like Red Bull.

There were peanut M&Ms. Pringles, mini snickers, cookies etc. the usual assortment of mini bar items. You just tell them what you want. For instance we wanted extra Sprite and Diet Coke and it appears.

Lunch in CK is really just a slimmed down version of dinner. The hostess even basically said - if you're coming for dinner you may want to try something else for lunch for variety.

We decided to brave WJ for lunch. One side was jammed. The other side was empty. At noon.

I personally have no issues with WJ. I always find something I like and there are a ton of options.

This is my third cruise without coconut ranger cookies. Did they stop making them?

Can you hve the Mini Bar stocked with your favorite spirit?

Nope. No bottle service or mini bottles. No wine bottles other than your welcome aboard bottle and any C&A amenity.

They will get you drinks or you can walk down the hall to the Suite Lounge which is open all day.

Has anyone seen or been to the new comedy club.

I thought I read, that it was in the blaze spot now and bigger. Is this true?

I thought that change was only on Harmony so far.

What about beer?

No alcoholic beverages are provided in the mini-bar, with the possible exception of Quantum class. I believe Carol mentioned having alcoholic beverages in the mini-bar on Anthem.

Matt, about the light switch. I didn't think about it as we usually bring a motion night light for Owen. We plug it in near the downstairs washroom beside the phone on the counter.

You might be able to turn on the balcony lights on and leave the small man door drapes by the dining table open a bit. This should give you a little bit of light enough to see without walking into anything but still allow you the ability to sleep.

I totally forgot to mention it to you. Sorry about that.

This is #48 and first time on Allure. Obviously first time Star Class. We are in a Sky Loft and I'm traveling with one of my best friends. Franky, our Genie, met us at front of terminal after we went through the Star Class door. Your luggage stays with you through security. And goes through the scanners everybody puts their carry on through. I was worried about my bag fitting but it did. Then Franky whisked us to get checked in and on the ship. We were on Deck 17 in about 10 mins start to finish. Your bags transfer from a pier porter to a ship porter so if you're inclined to tip the porter do it before he takes your bags away.

In the cabin Franky set us up with our comp Voom Internet and there were fresh berries,Moet and deluxe canapés. The mini bar was stocked to the preferences I told him ahead of time.

I will be sleeping on the pullout. I have my own bathroom, closet and drawers on the main floor. But just one safe upstairs. The bathrooms have double showers.

Lunch is a the usual places plus buffet in CK.

So far Star is living up to its name.
