'free' cruise from my land casino.

all my previous cas cruise's said 'guest fare.'

this one says 'Admin fee' of $200.

i'm assuming admin fee = guest fare = ncf?

anyone know why they changed the label to Admin fee?

edit:

got another 'free' cas cruise certificate.

i heard the admin fee went up to $250?!?!

I'm going to 'guess' it's been changed due to confusion with it saying "guest fare" when it's a *free* cruise. They changed it to Admin fee. Why they just didn't change it to NCF, which is basically what it is, I have no idea. NCL is the only cruise line that I'm aware of that when comped one pays a NCF.

RCCL and Carnival do not charge any fees when it's a casino comped cruise.

All you pay is the port charges. I don't know about other lines.

Celebrity also does not charge anything except the port charges/taxes.

We just booked The Pearl to Alaska 2 days ago for Aug, and admin fee is $260-pp.

We booked on march 31 the Gem to Canada/New England for June, and the admin fee $200-pp.

We booked on march 18 the Epic Western Caribbean for Jan '17, and admin fee $200- pp.

All with land based casino certificates ( 2 from Harrah's and 1 from Golden Nugget).

So either Alaska costs more, or fees went up.

Safe sailing

Yikes! I hope it isn't 260 pp for 7 days everywhere else, but it doesn't sound good. In the past when the admin fee rose, it was usually an increase of 10 or 20 pp. Increase of 60 pp is huge jump:eek:

Those fees depend on a couple things…

When you're sailing, what ship you are sailing on, what type of cabin you were comped and how long your cruise is.

Is there anyway to determine on your own what this amount is or do you have to call and quote a new room for the same cruise? I've been booking through CAS using a Diamond Total Rewards discount and it's difficult to figure out how much of the 'Admin Fee' is the NCF charge. I can't really use the NCL website cruise fare price and deduct 20% because a portion of that cruise fare is NCF and in turn isn't discounted.

Really???? I paid $700 for 2 people for my comped Alaska cruise (inside room) and am now looking at $522 for 2 people for a Caribbean cruise (balcony). How much typically are port charges? We may start cruising with other lines then.

So,,,, things have changed a bit since the thread you are posting on was created over a year ago. Right now, the admin fee is $20 per person per day.

Thank you. I did a quick search and this looked to be the most current post regarding the topic, sorry if I missed something. So if I'm sailing on a 7 day cruise the admin fee (or NCF) should be $280 for a reservation including 2 people in a cabin? So if I look on the NCL website and see a cruise fare of $1,579 per person I need to remove $140 and then my 20% discount should be factored on the remaining amount? I just booked something yesterday and it seems like the NCF amount is $400 and not the $280 as it seems it should be.

That cabin on the NCL website for $1,579 per person is costing me $1,303.20 per person after my 20% CAS (Total Rewards Diamond) discount.

So it no longer matters when or where the cruise is going/leaving from? The cruises I have booked in March of 2019 seem to be closer to $800 for Admin Fee.

When it is a discounted cruise and not a full comp the admin fee remains $200. You would remove that from the 1579 and calculate 20% off that figure ($1379) and then add back the $200 and that gives you your figure of $1303.20. Your actual savings is 275.80 per person.

Depending on your play, you might get a fully comped cabin. Some people get the 20% discount. Some get insides, some get balcony, some get suites. All tied to your past play ONBOARD and the current availability of each particular cruise.

You are correct. My free Carnival cruise in a balcony was 385 for 2 and on NCL 885 for 2!

I've got a Carnival 7 day ocean view and under $300. I just came in here to find out about these admin fees for a "comped cruise". Port fees for Bermuda $400 + $280 admin fees for 7 days. Or 7 day Bahama for $50 less. While it's a nice discount, that admin fee sure leaves a sour taste. Really thinking this through as I've wanted to try NCL, but Royal seems to be winning pricewise.
