Budget Queen Posted June 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) A few years ago Carnival, used to have some nonsupplemented single rates on specific sailings. There was a list, somewhere. :) (CCL site???) Anyway, I'm traveling more solo and want to know, if Carnival is an option for the low fares? (what it's more about for me, otherwise, paying double, I feel I have to ask a relative to go with me :) ) If available, any link is greatly appreciated. firemanbobswife Posted June 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Seems like they did away with the solo deals. I got some good ones in the past but now if I want to go I have to pay double .
fivemonkeysplus1 Posted June 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2016 My daughter just booked a room....interior room...$1600. So, she had to pay the same as 2 people.
vwrestler171 Posted June 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2016 They rarely have solo deals anymore. The ships are sailing full without having to discount the rooms to do it. IF they do have solo deals they are usually last minute on cruises if they have some openings, but the days of booking in advance are over for now. Hey Budget Queen, I think the last time I saw solo rates on Carnival was back on the cruise when I met you going to Caulker Cay some years back. NCL has the solo rates for studios, and surprisingly enough, I found some Celebrity cruises out of San Juan that were less than Carnival for one person. Budget Queen Posted June 17, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Thanks for the update. :) I have done some on NCL. Guess, it's going to be- taking those relatives, for me. :) Hate paying double, might as well bring someone along to take advantage of the cost. As I mentioned, that is just my thinking. uncleg Posted June 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 17, 2016 They are long gone. Yep. I used to get some good deals with Carnival. I guess with demand and the move to define itself as family friendly, singles are not in the equation. I am looking the try NCL if I can ever find a sailing that matches my schedule and it seems Celebrity often has better rates than CC.
dacsmom Posted June 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Not anymore. NCL has solo cabins, and RCI gives double points for solo cruisers. I also frequently sail solo, and occasionally find a cruise with a reduced single supplement.
Rare Roz Posted June 17, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2016 I used to be able to get 1A and some 4A cabins on Carnival for 150% - those days are (sadly) over. Roz
crusinpsychRN Posted June 17, 2016 #11 Share Posted June 17, 2016 The 1A is an option but they usually are only $40 less than an interior and only have a twin bed in most cases.
evandbob Posted June 17, 2016 #12 Share Posted June 17, 2016 (edited) The 1A is an option but they usually are only $40 less than an interior and only have a twin bed in most cases. I would try to book 1A cabins #6393, 7345 or 8357 on the Conquest class ships when they had the solo 150% fares. These cabins have twin beds that could convert to a king. Once Carnival went to a 200% solo, I started pricing other lines and surprisingly turned up decent solo pricing on NCL and Celebrity. gapearl Posted June 17, 2016 #13 Share Posted June 17, 2016 I haven't seen any solo deals on Carnival in over a year. I don't think they exist any more. NCL has the studio cabins, but they can be pricey. I looked at the Carnival Glory for next fall at 200% and the NCL Escape and Getaway in a studio (same 7 day itinerary on all 3 ships) and the price was the same for all 3. My Royal Caribbean cruise last fall ended up being at about 125% after price drops so it looks like they still offer solo deals from time to time. I do wish Carnival would bring them back. :(

cocoaloco Posted June 17, 2016 #15 Share Posted June 17, 2016 They come and go on the GoCCl website - at the end of the sales brochure. Click the sales brochure logo on the bottom right and go to the last page. The only current listing is for the Sunshine outta New York.

totalee Posted June 17, 2016 #18 Share Posted June 17, 2016 If you get a Casino rate of $0 they double it for a solo. but 0 X2 is still 0 so it is a good deal. It is almost a pain when you invite someone else because it only means you are sharing a cabin now at the same cost.
cntrydncr1 Posted June 18, 2016 #19 Share Posted June 18, 2016 I sure wish they had them...got one almost 2 years ago that was awesome. Now I have trouble finding people to cruise with me.
mj Posted June 19, 2016 #20 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Carnival used to be my go to cruise line when I wanted to sail alone. Hard to find any good deals anymore. Miss the good old days of getting deals on the 1A cabins. Found a studio cabin on NCL Epic for 7 nights for around $900 in Dec 17 and will try NCL for the first time. That includes 3 nights at the pay restaurants.

robin13 Posted June 19, 2016 #22 Share Posted June 19, 2016 I did a studio cabin on the Epic last May on a 7 night Mediterranean cruise. The cabin was $479 which was the cheapest cabin I have ever booked as a solo cruiser. Unfortunately the airfare to Barcelona was $1200 so there went my cheap cruise. I wish that Carnival would do these studio cabins as I really hate paying the solo supplement. Even though the studio cabin was only 100 square feet it really was fine for one person. crusinpsychRN Posted June 19, 2016 #23 Share Posted June 19, 2016 I'd go stark raving mad in a studio cabin.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 20, 2016 #24 Share Posted June 20, 2016 NCL has been stealing my business from Carnival lately with their studio cabins and included beverage package... I paid less to sail on the brand new Escape (with included beverage package) than my upcoming cruise on the Vista next year... I like Carnival, but I have to go with the better deal on NCL... Froufie Posted June 20, 2016 #25 Share Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) I'd go stark raving mad in a studio cabin. Agree totally! LOL...besides many times the 'double' rate in a 1A on carnival is cheaper than the 'solo' studio price.....so I would choose that over the more 'claustrophobic' studio -besides I typically can even get a porthole for a better price! I also do check goccl.com as they list the solo pricing (and other sales) online..... Edited June 20, 2016 by Froufie
