Children in the Diamond Lounge?

Recommended Posts

It's my understanding that Diamond children are not given 3 vouchers for cokes or Shirley Temples for outside the lounge. I wonder why not. I also wonder if any Diamond children even know who Shirley Temple is.

It's funny we where in myrtle beach in June and the restaurant changed the name of the drink when I asked why he asked my daughter who shirley temple was, he laughed I nodded with the touche.

How long will it be before RCI renames the "DL" to the "D+L"? When RCI added the "3 drink per day" benefit, was this an indication that Diamond C&A members some day would not have their own lounge?

It would seem a logical solution because 80 points are easily reached and the numbers are multipling fast.

Oh, I see. If the line has not officially welcomed children in the DL during cocktail hour, my opinion is for the parents to go elsewhere for their free drinks. Is is too much to ask for an adult environment when the line promises the adults that? As others have said before me, Adventure Ocean is an adult free zone. Whey can't the adults have their space too? It's only for a couple of hours a day. Keep the kiddies out.

The Solarium is for sixteen and above and they serve drinks there.

Where does Royal Caribbean say that the DL is for adults only?

You had the option of going to any venue on the ship that welcomed families. At least you have the option. With children being welcomed in the DL during cocktail hour, there is no option to have an adult free environment. The cruise line should do better for those adults who wish to enjoy a cocktail in a kid free zone.

First of all, Royal Caribbean is a family friendly line. It is not an adults only line. Second, the Solarium is for sixteen and above, and they serve drinks. Third, if you want to be kid free, what are you doing on a family friendly line? There are other lines where there are adult only spaces, Carnival and Princess both have such places. You'll likely find the entire ship kid free if you go with Celebrity, HAL, Seabourn, or Crystal, especially on longer cruises outside of the Caribbean during the school year.

Our tea is made in North East England from tea imported from Sri Lanka.

The point is RC make rules that are not implemented so just like the Maitred might not stop people going into the restaurant with shorts and vest tops when they are not allowed, the Diamond Lounge Concierge doesn't have to allow children in if the members don't agree.

Wouldn't the person with the kids also be a diamond member and agree :).

To repeat again.

We have seen 1 child in the DL in 110 days going into the DL so it has never ever been an issue for us.

Anybody regardless of age, colour, race or religion has my respect and i would happily socialise with them if they are nice people.

I would think one of the reasons you have only had 1 child in the past is they weren't allowed in during cocktail hour until recently (officially, they did let them in sometimes) so you're more likely to see more in the future. Obviously depends when and where you cruise as well

The folks I'm talking about are the people who have voiced their opinions on this thread that would prefer children not be allowed in the DL for the cocktail hour. I'm not alone in my thinking and wishing for an adult only environment to enjoy a drink.

Telling off color jokes was just an example of what happens in adult only environments. I've been bashed on this thread by folks saying they don't want to hear my off color jokes. Truth be told, I've never told an off color joke or a clean joke for that matter because I am a terrible joke teller. Can't remember the punch lines so I've given up trying to tell jokes many years ago.I have, however, discussed adult subject matter in an adult only environment along with other adults. As someone said up thread, having children in any venue changes the mood of the room.

You do realize that Royal Caribbean is a family friendly line, don't you?

No, you are not alone in wanting to be in an adult only environment, many passengers on Princess, Celebrity, HAL and the luxury lines feel the same why you do. For some reason, they pick a less family friendly line for cruising.

As to joke material, there is an old standby for a dirty joke. "Do you want to hear a dirty joke? A horse fell in the mud." You want a clean joke? Ask the other person to say "knock knock". Then you reply, "Who is there?" Try it, you'll see why this joke works.

If you scream at each other maybe i have overestimated your parenting skills.

My parents only had to threaten us with getting wrong when we got home and we turned obediant straight away.

At school you would get hit with the cane on your hand if you were naughty,i had it once and never again.

Teach respect and they will learn respect.

Now RC are going more for Oasis class ships with SL and D+ relegated to DL i think RC with the 3 free drinks during cocktail hour will probably go down that route and make them D+ lounges.

This thread is a perfect example of why rci does not look to CC or its posters on how to run their ships/lounges.

I think there are a lot of good ideas on CC and people like Clarea would be an excellent ambassador for RCI.
