Win/loss Statement

Recommended Posts

Some of you actually "win":D

One might need to W/L statement to offset reported winnings. RC now reports winnings over a certain amount to the IRS. Losses are not reported, so the W/L statement can help with income taxes.

How do they know how much you lose?

They can track all of your gambling, if you participate in one of the casino perk programs (like, in this case, Club Royale). Those of us who just occasionally put a little money in the machines without any sort of club card would not be able to get such a win/loss statement.

Normally the dealer swipes your card at buy in, enter that amount. When you color up to leave dealer enters that amount. Walk away empty handed or with not much, they will enter 0.

I wasn't aware of this change with RC now reporting winnings over a certain amount. Do they now withhold 30% from winnings over $1,199 like U.S. land casinos? As a Canadian, we don't pay tax on any casino/lottery winnings at home - which is the only thing we don't pay tax on! We are able to claim back the withholding tax from the IRS but it takes forever. I still haven't received my 2014 refund. I guess I don't have to worry about it as I rarely win that much (if anything) on the ships.

I don't see how RC has any right to report or withhold anything to the IRS for non-US citizens on money not won in the US.

withhold anything from your winnings. So if you do happen to win on the ship keep that in mind taxwise now if you are a U.S. citizen....K.O.:( Edited by Thetrail

No, they will not withhold anything nor give you a W2G if you are a Canadian citizen

Only US citizens when they win a cash payout of $1199 or more on the slots. The casino staff will determine your citizenship based on official ID. (Passport, DL, BC,)

So, if you win a "bonus" game and it hits big and totals more than $1199, the game will halt until the casino staff resets the machine.

I would recommend to anyone who plays and their credits get close to $1000, go ahead and cash out. Then keep playing if you wish.

Two questions:

1). Does it track what you did on slot machines if you inserted your sea pass card?

2). When you email or call them to get the statement what information do they need? Ship, sail date, reservation number or what?

I won the jackpot bingo on Oasis last year and sure need to offset that somehow. Sailed 4 more times after that and played the slots quite often.

Thanks,
