I was hoping this would fizzle away, but I guess not. Hopefully no itineraries are affected.

Every season they will alter itineraries to avoid storms. No reason to think this year will be different.

Going to affect ships at sea in Western C now. Cayman's and Jamaica today. Outside possibility of Roatan on Wednesday if the storm is wide enough and drifts south a bit.. But it will most likely affect ships scheduled for Belize or Costa Maya (and maybe Cozumel )on Thursday and maybe Friday.

 

If you ship hasn't left the US yet, no frets.

I'm in playa del Carmen now beautiful weather. A few more clouds than yesterday Same with wind and waves. Still a glorious day!

Just an FYI for those going to Belize in the next week. We were on a cruise 2 years ago in Oct, and a tropical depression had hit the country hard. It had rained for several days in a row before our arrival. ALL the excursions on the Mainland (ruins, cave tubing, etc) were canceled due to high water, washed out roads, etc. The outer island excursions still went out.

This wasn't even a hurricane.... just a tropical depression.

 

So if you are going on a cruise that goes to Belize, check out alternate excursions in case yours gets canceled last minute. No one on our ship knew until the night before port, so everyone had to scramble to rebook onboard and it was insane. Just an FYI.

BYW, for those who may not know, Playa Del Carmen is directly opposite Cozumel. I watched as a Carnival ship left there yesterday in fantastic clear weather

Well, this is one of the risks we take when booking a cruise.

Maybe, maybe not. Should be over land by Thursday and in and out of the Bay of Campeche by Friday. Circle or path probability doesn't have it come close to Coz or Playa. Roatan looks on the south end with Belize and Costa Maya getting the frontal attack.

"Carnival has altered itineraries today due to Tropical Storm Earl. Carnival Glory is replacing stops in Belize and Roatan with stops in Nassau and Freeport. Carnival Magic will no longer stop in Belize but will now have a fun day at sea. The stop in Cozumel is being moved up one day."

Interesting that the changes in itineraries were made when they were.

 

But the track now shows TS Earl going over Roatan today, but I don't think any ships were due there and heading toward Planancia with outside northern circle of track around Belize City. But rain squalls and winds cover a pretty broad area.

Looking out this morning it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Any ships scheduled for Cozumel should dock as scheduled. Seas look much calmer than yesterday.

Do they ever cancel cruises? When they change itineraries, do they normally just move your ports to different days or do they actually change the port to another port?
