Just got an interesting email from Royal...

Wow, cool offer! If I were retired, I'd jump all over this!

At a glance, my guess is that they're having trouble filling this ship -- and we're talking about one of the dead-est times of year. They'd rather have someone sail at essentially no cost to them ... because at least they'd make money from you on the casino, etc.

Got offer for free Ocean View. Called and for 5 nights total tax and fees $211 for both of us. Free drinks while in Casino. I can live with that.

Next step up to upgrade is Junior Suite as there are no balcony rooms on Empress. Cost to upgrade $600. Still debating if it is worth it.

My concern is all of the complaints regarding the AC in cabins (I like it cold to sleep) and plumbing.

I got this offer too. I play slots and don't know if spending $100-$200 a day is considered much to comp a room for but I took it. Squeezing the 7 day in December in before our 10 person Allure cruise in Feb. Cost me $288 for 2 in an ocean view. Hubby plays tables and tournaments and we asked if he had the offer too but they checked and said no. Found cheap flights through southwest for $200 per person so $688 for a 7 day four port mini vacation right before Christmas. I'm happy [emoji4]

Yep, we got it too. Sadly this time of year (basically through Feb) is hubby & my crazy times so taking that time off is next to impossible. It was a push just to get 2 days off for our long weekend sailing in 2 weeks. But to be fair, like others said, by the time you add in airfare, taxes, etc.., it's not exactly free. I suspect since they are all for Empress, RCI is having trouble filling that ship.

We sailed on Empress in a JS in August. The JS is worth the extra money (IMO) for the extra space....cabins on this ship are small, so the extra space it will give you is nice. No one on our sailing that I spoke to, and I speak with tons of people when I sail, complained about the AC in their cabin, just in the casino. They had portable AC units in the casino to help the situation.

I got it also. Read the fine print, don't think you can upgrade. By the time you pay airfare, taxes, port charges, gratuity's it's not really free unless you win in the casino, lol

No, not exactly free but you can't expect air fare and possibly gratuities to be included.

Shoot! I would have been so in on this offer as I'm looking to try solo cruising but the double fare thing is holding me back. I hope I didn't accidentally delete the email...

You can just give them your C&A number to confirm your offer I believe. I can post the offer code but don't know if that's allowed.

How much did you play on the Alaska cruise you were on? I got a call and said it was for my play on MJ May. Not what I did on Allure in Jan?

About the same as on Allure in August. Not a huge amount but enough for the $200 certificate. I'm not surprised I didn't get the e-mail as I've never received an e-mail or snail mail from Club Royale in all the years I've been a VIP. I never know if any deals are out there unless I call and ask. After a couple dozen attempts at getting e-mails/flyers sent to me and trying a different e-mail address, I gave up.

Who would have thought it would be hard to find someone to go a virtually free cruise?? Looking at the 7 night Yucatan Escape Cruise. Fiance doesn't have enough vacation time left, brother will be out of town for work, good work friend doesn't know if he can get a kitchen pass from his girl, lol. Guess I might go it alone, can't pass up on a free cruise.
