Patti wanted to walk around and maybe do a little shopping, so I decided to stop at Rocky’s Sports Bar, have a few beers, and wait for her there…..

Patti met me back at Rocky’s Sports Bar and we had lunch there. Afterwards, it was only a short three block walk back to the ship. The Saint John High School is right across from the terminal building…..

Back at the port, the Fundy Cruise Market is in a big tent for your last minute shopping needs! Lol.

Patti wanted to browse for a little while, so I decided to head back onto the ship. Patti caught this long range shot of me boarding…..

We are supposed to sail at 4pm today, so we are up on deck to watch. A bagpiper is playing on the pier…..

Do you see the fog bank in the distance?

It is nearing 4:30pm and we still haven’t sailed. All of a sudden a tour bus, then a second one, pull into the parking lot and drop off passengers. Good thing they were on a Carnival tour!

It is a beautiful afternoon, and Serenity is busier than it has been all week…..

Now that everyone is back on board, the Captain eases the Carnival Sunshine away from the pier.

The last few views as we sailed from Saint John…..

Tonight we are having dinner at the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse. This is a dinner that we always look forward to when we sail on a ship that has a Steakhouse. Due to our malfunctioning camera, we weren’t able to get many shots. We really only got one decent photo, and that was of the entrée presentation…..

CS08441.JPG

Now, Patti and I pretty much order the same thing each time we are here, so if you’re dying for food porn, check out our other reviews with a steakhouse. Lol.

Tonight, Patti had the crab cakes, garden salad, and the lobster with a baked potato. I had two orders of the Portobello mushrooms, and the spiced rubbed ribeye with wasabi mashed potatoes.

For dessert, I had the Bailey’s ice cream, which tasted like plain vanilla, and Patti ordered a fruit plate to go.

This was not our favorite experience in a Steakhouse by far. There were some highs, but a lot more lows. Let’s start with the lows. First of all, the tables for two were very close together. Not as close as in the MDR, but still very close. There was nothing intimate or romantic about eating here. Thankfully we had wonderful neighbors. Bar service was extremely slow. We know that eating in the Steakhouse can take a pretty long time, but we had to hunt down our waitress to take our order to begin with, take our dessert order, and to get our check. She never once came by to see how our meal was, or offer fresh crushed pepper. Patti wanted to order a Caesar salad with no anchovies. No can do. What! We can get a Caesar salad in the MDR without anchovies! I miss the days when they used to make your Caesar salad tableside. My wasabi mashed potatoes and sauce arrived over 5 minutes after my ribeye did. They were just not very sharp tonight.

The highs, as always the food was awesome and they brought us a special dessert, a hazelnut something or other, in honor of Patti’s Milestone cruise. That was a nice touch.

Afterwards, we both made our way to the casino to try our luck. We both lost a little playing our respective games.

Back to the cabin where we find tonight’s turndown service…..

CS0847.JPG

Patti has received a box of chocolates from the Housekeeping Manager Olena in honor of her Milestone cruise. That was another nice touch, and a great way to end a very nice day. Goodnight!

Coming up next: Our day in Halifax, including Peggy’s Cove.

Another good read on St. John. Been to St. John x2, most resent 2014 on Princess. I didn't go into town the 2nd time around. Just went to the Tent Market right outside there. Will be waiting on the Halifax review.

Hey Barb! Thanks for dropping by again. I won't be posting any more until Friday. Need some time to prep, and have dinner plans for the next two evenings. My plan is to wrap this up by Sunday. :)

Hey Karry! Just noticed that a suite opened up for our cruise. :D

St John's is in the province of Newfoundland. Saint John is in the province of New Brunswick :)

I will check it out! Believe it or not, I am looking at Pride to good old Nassau, Freeport and PC. Only thing I can find right now that is "doable." :( Just checked: someone must have booked it.

We are going to do this cruise the same week next year. Can you tell me if there were many children on board? We did a similar trip last year on Norwegian Dawn and only saw 3 kids and 1 teenager. Everyone else appeared to be over 40. (which was fine with us) My mother and I are both over 40! And she and I will be doing the cruise. Your review is great. Love the pix. This will be the first time we actually tour in Boston and first visit to St. John.

Yep, it disappeared quickly. At over 1,000 pp I don't think it was worth it for a four day cruise!

Thanks for reading. There weren't many children aboard at all. Even on the nice days waterworks was a ghost town. :)

Jeff,

Just loving your review with the pictures. It sort of reminds me of Bill Bryson books. I can't wait to read each page and get to see things I missed on the Sunshine and/or in the ports.

I must admit i loved the Sunshine and got really lucky when I sailed on her and scored the scenic view cabin.

See you in two weeks on the Sunshine.

Karen

PS: Please give my regards to Patti
