boscobeans Posted September 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2016 We've been on just about every Celebrity ship other than the Reflection and the Equinox, going back to the days of the Zenith before she even had verandas. The Summit and the others in her class are at this time our favorites. To us they are the perfect balance of modern and traditional in design as well as general ambiance. Enjoy you cruise. CruisingChick Posted September 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Lisa Lutoff-Perlo just tweeted a picture of her on board Summit in Boston on the rooftop terrace. It looks like they are having some special event up there.

OMO bosco We have been on most of the Celebrity ships , going back to the Zenith and the Century as well, and the Summit still ranks right up there in our list of top 5 ships. We have been on her for a total of 10 weeks over the years and have a B2B planned in November. I agree..love the traditional design! Thank you for your help!
bigreckster Posted September 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2016 Likewise have sailed on many Celebrity ships including the Century, Zenith and even the final cruise on the Meridian! Like Summit best of all. Can you tell us what your impressions are of the new Tuscan Grill...we really will miss the ambience and food of Normandie when we return in Jan. Have a great cruise!:)

JMG Posted September 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2016 We were on the Summit's last cruise to Bermuda. We tried to get a reservation for Tuscan Grill the first night but they only had a few tables for two. They told us if we were a party of four, they could get us in...at that point...we did not know anyone! So...we did not do Tuscan Grill. We did do Quisine and IMHO, it was a disappointment. We got the ipads...checked off our choices and then the waiter brought us what he felt we would like! Mid meal I had to specifically ask for the lobster escargot...never got several of our choices. The things we got we good...but...we missed trying some other things that the waiter did not care to serve! The dessert choice was terrible...will not do Quisine again! We had lots of on board credit..decided to do the spa instead of the specialty restaurants!

Educators2 Posted September 21, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) We are also on the Summit now. Wow, warm summer-like weather. For those who are on the next cruise, there is a shuttle from the pier to the downtown area (not Quincy Market like it says in the newsletter) but about seven or so blocks away. It cost $16 round trip. Portland is a great port. There is a wonderful Titanic exhibit at the Science Museum. A very short walk from port. Port terminal has free wifi. uncle-b Posted September 21, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted September 21, 2016 I will try to find out who the head sommilier is? The CEO was on board yesterday along with a large group of travel agents. The crew & staff were excited a out her visit. Capt. Alex from last week was still on board for this meeting. We are planning to eat in Tuscan next week. We will be a group of 10. We are trying to negotiate a discount. We attend the Elite breakfast in Tuscan & it looks great. We are in Portland today & the weather is great. Sandra

DanaJW Posted September 22, 2016 #14 Share Posted September 22, 2016 We are sailing soon and trying to figure out how many layers to bring! What is the temperature like on the Summit...in the restaurants, in the other large areas? Thanks
Educators2 Posted September 22, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Temperature on the Summit is uneven. Take a light sweater. Gym is warm, dining area is cool. In Portland, lobsters are on the dinner menu. Nice. Bar Harbor is sunny...a treat. There are some tours available in port. No fall colors yet...maybe next cruise. The Shore Excursion staff is very accommodating. They are going to update location of shuttle stop in Boston.

TeeRick Posted September 25, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 25, 2016 To the OP - any update on fall foliage? We are on Summit next year departing NJ on Sept 24th. Hopefully this is not too early to see color- especially when we hit Canada.
DFD1 Posted September 25, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 25, 2016 I'm not the OP, but we just returned from this cruise September 18. That was much too early for the fall leaves colors. September 24 might be a bit early, but one never knows for sure.

TeeRick Posted September 26, 2016 #25 Share Posted September 26, 2016 Yes - we might be a bit early to start the cruise on Sept 24th. But it is 14 nights so we will probably be in a good window.
