Serenade of the Seas Question

Good Evening Everyone,

I will be sailing on the Serenade of the Seas in December.

I have two questions:

Has anyone recently been on this ship? How was the condition of the ship?

My second question is does anyone know the email to the maître D on the Serenade or how do I go about obtaining the email to a maître D?

Thank you!

I was on the Serenade last December and will be again this December. The ship was in beautiful shape all around. They were building a new Next Cruise area throughout our cruise, which was kind of annoying at times (very loud, especially in the Guest Services area), but other than that we didn't notice any areas that were out of order or in need of attention. Well, I take that back, the movie theater definitely could have used some sprucing up. It had some broken seats, and the cushions had definitely seen better days, but that's the only area I can think of that wasn't up to par with the rest of the ship.

We were on the Serenade a few weeks ago and the ship is in excellent condition - we had a wonderful cruise. We used the dining e mail as quoted above to request a specific size and table location, we received a confirmation within a week, and we were allocated a perfect table for 4 by the window. Have a great cruise.

Here is our youtube of the Serenade of the Seas from January, 2016. The video has lots of ship, shore, and food photos so you can judge for yourself the condition of the ship. We liked the SOTS very much and we are also already booked for January of 2017. I am confident you will enjoy her.

  • 1 month later...

Just back from 12 day repo cruise...Boston to Ft. Lauderdale on Serenade. We are not rookies...14th cruise, 6th time on this repo.

As always, RCCL staff was most accommodating, efficient and friendly...no complaints here!! Have rebooked for next year.

Ship itself needs updating and brightening.

Cruise director CarlyB worked hard to provide varied entertainment..day and night.

Casino staff did a good job, tho not as over-the-top enthusiastic as in the past.

We did not do any specialty dining. My-time dining is our favorite, but still find many guest who do not understand that with "mytime" you still need to schedule a time or expect a short wait if you just "show up".

For the 1st time ever, we did NOT enjoy most of the food...either in the Windjammer or the main dining room! An unofficial survey found many agreeing with us. Overheard a guest on our bus to the airport that of 30+ cruises, this food was the worst. We have no problem with selections outside our comfort zone, but we do expect our choices to be hot, tender and not sodium overload, ...several chicken dishes were dry and beef dishes, tough. Unfortunately, this reflects on the waitstaff, who, I believe, have no control over of the quality of the food. There were fewer "plain" green vegetables, but more mixed with (tomato) sauces of sorts.

Enough belly-aching for now, and still looking forward to repo 2017 !

I was on this same Repo cruise this year, and found the food in the MDR to be pretty bad also. It was edible, but not much better.

The internet speed and availability was awful. I could not connect many times.

Chops was actually quite good though. Izumi was overpriced for what you got considering you already get food.

The best food on the ship is the Tomato Egg Drop soup in the Windjammer. Find it when it is available and try it. It is very good.

We were on the cruise the week before the repo... thought the food was fine. Yes, they do seem to use a lot of salt! Giovanni's is our favorite... did try Chops and found it to be good but nothing spectacular. I am not a steak eater but DH liked his steak.

Internet was good the whole week, although we did have several instances where we had to try a couple of times to connect.

We thought the ship looked great... no complaints!

We recently completed a TA on the Serenade. Internet speed was good and we never had a problem connecting. We were able to Face Time with no problem, either. The ship is in good shape - no complaints here. The food was good; I realize food is very subjective, but we were satisfied. There were a lot of D, D+ and Pinnacle members on board. The D lounge was moved to the Safari Club and that worked well. D+ and Pinnacle were in their original spot on the 13th deck. (sorry I forgot the name!) but it's across from the concierge lounge. All in all a wonderful cruise! We have another cruise booked on the ship.

Just off Serenade of the Seas for a 11 day Caribbean Cruise.

We had a great cruise, overall. Really enjoyed the entertainment.

Never received any M&M invite so we just happened upon it when going to the Diamond Lounge and the event was just about over. Guess the stateroom attendant forgot to deliver the invitation.

Internet worked great for email but we paid for streaming and that never worked properly.

Food in the Windjammer was the worst we ever had on any cruise. Very disappointed, but at least Breakfast in the Main Dining was fine. Skipped lunch because of it. Ate in the MDR each evening and selection was sparse but OK. Quality of preparation was good.

Shore excursion bus loading was awful, totally disorganized and twice we were put on a bus with no more seats left. But the excursions were well done otherwise with good guides. We actually got partial refunds for the problems of not having enough seats which made one of our excursions awful!

Room condition was fine and staff were less attentive to resolving mistakes than in the past. Minibar delivered wrong stuff once.

Overall, with exception of entertainment, RCI Serenade had lower quality.

Diamond Club was in the usual location on Deck 13 but the afternoon free drinks opened up the Crown Lounge due to so many people. Still had trouble with seats. Get there early!

We were on deck 10 in a suite so the room quality and maintenance was good. But, at 3AM every night there was continued banging overhead from staff banging on the floor for about 2 hours. If you are a light sleeper, I would avoid the aft end of Deck 10 under the Windjammer.
