Marco2804 Posted October 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Hey Guys, we ( 2Adults + 1Infant 2Years) want to Cruise with the Anthem in October 2017 from New York. There is no Babyfon on the Ship. Do you know can we use a Radio set? Has anyone experience when using radio equipment on cruise ships?? Thanks for your help. Clarea Posted October 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2016 I've had very poor luck trying to use walkie-talkies on ships when separated by a few decks.
leisuretraveler223 Posted October 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2016 I assume you're talking about a baby monitor. I'm a little unclear as to why you would need that in a stateroom. Even if you have the largest suite on the ship, you're going to be able to hear the little one from anywhere in the room.

Best Marco I was going to say the same thing as the other poster. Why the need for a baby monitor. Also, a little confused. Do you have an infant AND a 2 year old...or are you saying that your infant is 2? (an infant is under 12 months and a 2 year old is a toddler).....BY THE WAY...WELCOME TO CRUISE CRITIC!!!!:):):) Edited October 4, 2016 by champagne123 SSSS

Clarea Posted October 4, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2016 We want to go dining and the Baby is sleeping at the stateroom, and we want to hear when the baby cries in the cabin. Unless the stateroom is very near the dining toom, I would not expect radio to work very well. There are babysitters available.

reallyitsmema Posted October 4, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 4, 2016 This is right but we need help What ship are you sailing? Some ships have a nursery where you could leave the child while you go to dinner. Ships also have in cabin babysitters, but they are very expense and are not always available. subtchr Posted October 4, 2016 #15 Share Posted October 4, 2016 (edited) Anthem of the seas.... we want no room for the baby . The baby sleeps in her bed at the stateroom You cannot leave a baby or toddler unattended in a stateroom while you go to dinner. You will have to hire a babysitter, or use the nursery if it is available for that age child. I found this info on CC by searching: "The Royal Babies & Tots Nursery is open to kids aged 6 months to 3 years; it's bookable onboard only. The fee is $6 per child, per hour, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and $8 per child, per hour, between 6 p.m. and midnight. There is a 4:1 baby-to-staff ratio and just two permanent staff members in this room, so you are advised to book ahead. The ship will add a third member during particularly busy sailings, but that's still a maximum of 12 tots on a 4,180-passenger ship. You can bring your own food, or the staff will order in from room service." Edited October 4, 2016 by subtchr

Anthem does not have a nursery though, so your only option is in cabin babysitting which is $19 per hour.
spookwife Posted October 4, 2016 #17 Share Posted October 4, 2016 Our Child is 2 years old at the cruise under ZERO circumstances may you leave that child alone in the cabin!!!!! you either pay to put them in the nursery, or you you eat in the cabin. Annabellecruiser Posted October 4, 2016 #18 Share Posted October 4, 2016 This is appalling! You cannot leave your baby in your cabin while you go off anywhere, whether to eat or not! Get a babysitter or take the child with you to the dining room.

Anthem does not have a nursery though, so your only option is in cabin babysitting which is $19 per hour. Anthem is listed as having a royal tots program. You need to verify with Royal Caribbean. You must leave your 2 year old in the care of others and pay money to do so for any child under 36 months old. Royal Caribbean provides the babysitting service and expects their guests to pay for it and not abandon 2 year olds in a cabin while the adults go ANYWHERE on the ship. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/experiencetypes/category.do?pagename=onboard_cat_kids_teens_and_families
