Closures/cutoffs?

Hello all, I am going on my first cruise this upcoming Saturday the 15th.

A few of the people I am traveling with and myself had questions about pool closing times if there were any? As well as like alcohol cutoff times, we are from California so it is 2 AM for us normally but I can't find anything that tells me. Thank you for any help in advance!

Definitely not a "late night party" cruise line. As stated above, Skywalker's may have bar service late but, if there are no passengers there, it may not. I've been there (once) as late as Midnight but I generally avoid it as I don't like the music they play and they tend to play it at insanely loud volume.

Sometimes it seems the simpler the question, the more judgmental of the OP the answers...

Occasionally Princess lists the hours for the pools and hot tubs in the Patter (the onboard daily program of events) but more often not. It seems pretty randomly selected as to which of the pools or hot tubs are closed overnight for cleaning. I have certainly seen passengers in one of the pools or hot tubs well past midnight on various Princess cruises. Weather can be a factor as to closing off the open decks overnight as well.

As to last call, once you are in international waters local or state laws from California are out of play. The Casino Bar is often open until 1:00 or 1:30 depending on how busy the casino is. And again depending on the passenger mix Skywalker's niteclub can still have a crowd at that hour as well. Bottom line is time for last call is fluid based on demand; perhaps you and your friends will be deemed sufficient demand just on your own.

The Princess Patter (daily sheet delivered to your cabin) lists bar times but only as:

Wheelhouse Bar: 3:00 PM onward

Skywalker's Nightclub: 10:00 PM onward

Calypso Bar: 6:00 AM onward

Crooner's Bar: 9:30 AM onward

Some will list: As per entertainment schedule

This is an example from Emerald Princess. Venues can vary depending on the ship.

Not specific regarding closing times as you can see...

There is not cutoff time for liquor, ie there's no curfew like cities or states have. If people are up and participating, the club (name depends on ship) will be open late night and serving alcohol along with dance music. We're generally in the club till at least 2am and sometimes later on pretty much every sailing, and there are plenty of other people around enjoying themselves. It does depend on the sailing for how much of a party crowd there may be. Week long cruises have more later night folks vs longer cruises in general. Once the club shuts down (and it varies), the late night folks often migrate to the International Cafe for snacks and chatting away. We find Princess to be plenty late night for us night owls.

As for pools - have no idea. Haven't really seen people using pools after dark, but it may happen...Doesn't hurt to ask once onboard. We're usually enjoying dinner, a show or other entertainment, casino (again open later into the night as long as there's people playing, at least till midnight on most ships, and often later), and dancing...

A lot depends on the ship, itinerary, and passenger demographic.

Bars all have opening and closing hours. A few open as early as 6am. Some close around 2am. All bar times are shown on the back page of the Princess Patter.

Pools, some get netted in the evening, some stay open. Again it depends on the ship and itinerary.

I think you can get a drink at the international cafe 24 hours a day, can't you?

I am usually not up that late but I think the bar there also does coffee and has alcohol

Whenever we've been over that that late (or early I suppose it technically is), the bar next to rhe International Cafe is closed and being cleaned, but the IC has coffee drinks, hot chocolate and water. Haven't been able to get an alcoholic beverage at 2 or 3 am there, that bar usually doesn't open back up for business till around 5:30 or so...there isn't a bar open for alcohol we've found from around 2:30-5:30/6, except the times Skywalker's or Club 6 is open later than that (and yes, it does happen)...

The OP is from California and all alcohol sales are banned between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM so this should work fine.

Unless they are really hoping for 24/7 alcohol, in which case, room service is the only option during those wee morning hours...

And it very much depends in ship and itinerary.

Not all ships have Skywalkers. My best guess would be the piano bar or the bar located in the Atrium. We don't stay up that late, but if there's a Skywalkers Thrak is right, the music is LOUD! Beautiful view during the day time.

Thank you all for the replies and the help. I do not plan on being up all night but find 11-12 too early some nights.

You'll be all set then. Casino bar will definitely be open till midnight as well the club - the name and location depends on which ship you're on). One quick note, there's a late night happy hour on each ship, usually 11-12 or 10:30-11:30 in the club venue onboard where drinks are Buy One Get One for $1... Drives people into the club, and saves some $$$ on late night drinks!

Enjoy your sailing.
